Frequently Asked Questions - BG 13 Nesco

How to use the Nesco BG 13 coffee grinder?
Place the appliance on a flat surface. Remove the lid and grinding bowl. Add coffee beans leaving about 12 mm of clearance. Replace the bowl by turning it into the locked position, then the lid. Plug in and press the button to grind. Release to stop. Unplug before removing the lid.
What is the maximum capacity of the grinding bowl?
Do not fill the bowl completely. Leave about 12 mm (1/2 inch) of clearance under the lid to allow beans to move.
Can other foods besides coffee be ground?
It is not recommended to grind oily foods (peanut, soybean) or very hard items (ice, flax seeds). For spices, thorough cleaning after use is recommended to avoid flavor mixing.
How to clean the coffee grinder?
Always unplug the appliance. The lid and grinding bowl can be washed with warm soapy water or in the dishwasher (top rack). Wipe the base with a damp cloth. Never immerse the base.
What is the maximum recommended operating time?
The appliance is designed for a maximum of 20 seconds continuous operation. Do not exceed this duration.
How to achieve a finer or coarser grind?
The fineness of the grind depends on the grinding duration. The longer you grind, the finer the grind. Experiment to find the desired texture. Coarse for percolator, medium for filter, fine for espresso.
Is the grinder safe for children?
Never let children use the appliance without supervision. The push-button prevents unintended operation, but adult supervision is required.
What to do if the cord is damaged?
Do not use the appliance. Contact NESCO customer service for repair or replacement. Do not attempt to repair yourself.
Can I use an extension cord?
Yes, with caution. Use an extension cord with electrical ratings at least equal to those of the appliance. Avoid it hanging from the counter.
Where can I get spare parts or warranty repair?
Contact NESCO customer service at 1-800-288-4545. For repair, return the appliance with proof of purchase to: The Metal Ware Corporation, 1700 Monroe Street, Two Rivers, Wisconsin 54241, after obtaining a return authorization number.
