Frequently Asked Questions - EN1309N4 Tripp Lite

How to install the Tripp Lite EN1309N4 enclosure?
To install the enclosure, first remove the cover. Attach the enclosure to the wall using at least two #10 x 2 in. screws (not included) anchored into studs. If no stud is available, use suitable anchors (threaded drywall anchors, expansion bolts, etc.). Ensure the screws are tight. Route power and data cables through a conduit knockout, then attach the access point inside using the provided screws. Finally, replace the cover and tighten the screws to 8 in/lb (0.9 Nm) using the supplied security Torx bit.
What screws to use for wall mounting the EN1309N4?
The manufacturer recommends using at least two #10 x 2 in. or larger screws (not included). The screws should be anchored into the center of wall studs. If installing on drywall without a stud, use appropriate wall anchors (threaded drywall anchors, expansion bolts, etc.). Plastic expansion anchors are not recommended due to the weight of the enclosure.
How to ensure the EN1309N4 is weathertight to meet NEMA 4 standard?
To maintain NEMA 4 (watertight) rating, use weather-tight fittings in conduit knockouts when running cables. Also ensure the cover screws are tightened to 8 in/lb (0.9 Nm) using the supplied security Torx bit. This ensures the gasket is properly compressed.
Can I use the EN1309N4 enclosure outdoors?
Yes, the enclosure is NEMA 4 rated, making it suitable for outdoor use. It is resistant to weather, rain, snow, and dust. Be sure to follow the installation instructions and use weather-tight fittings to maintain the seal.
What types of Wi-Fi access points are compatible with the EN1309N4?
The enclosure is designed to accommodate standard Wi-Fi access points. It is compatible with Cisco (Cisco bracket not included) and Aruba access points, as well as T-bar mounted access points. Use the provided screws to attach the access point inside the enclosure.
What to do if parts are missing from the EN1309N4 package?
If parts are missing or defective, visit tripplite.com/support for assistance. The manufacturer provides a component checklist in the manual. Make sure you have all parts before installation.
How to clean the Tripp Lite EN1309N4 enclosure?
To clean the enclosure, use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the plastic. If needed, lightly dampen the cloth with water, but ensure the enclosure is dry after cleaning.
What is the warranty period for the Tripp Lite EN1309N4?
The enclosure is covered by a 5-year limited warranty from the original purchase date. This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. It does not apply to normal wear and tear, misuse, abuse, or negligence.
Can I install the EN1309N4 enclosure on drywall without a stud?
Yes, but it is strongly recommended to use suitable wall anchors. Plastic expansion anchors are not recommended due to the weight of the enclosure. Use threaded drywall anchors, expansion bolts, or spring wing toggles. Ensure the anchor can support the weight.
How to attach the access point inside the EN1309N4 enclosure?
Before attaching the access point, connect all power and data cables. Use the provided screws to attach the access point to the enclosure. If using a specific bracket (such as the AIR-AP-BRACKET-2 for Cisco), install it first. The enclosure is also compatible with Aruba brackets and T-bar mounts.

  • Installers are responsible for providing wall-mounting hardware. Use a minimum of two #10 x 2" or larger screws (not included) to secure the enclosure in place.
  • Make sure mounting screws are anchored into the center of the studs. Use of a stud finder is highly recommended.
  • If there is no stud at the mounting location, it is recommended you use anchors to secure the enclosure in place. Due to the weight of the enclosure, plastic expansion wall anchors are not recommended for drywall installations. Suitable anchors include: threaded drywall anchors, threaded drywall toggles, sleeve-type hollow wall anchors (a.k.a. molly bolts) or toggle bolts.
  • If placing the enclosure over a telecommunications receptacle, remove the wall plate, then fasten the enclosure to the wall. Once secured, fasten the wall plate over the receptacle.
