IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • This appliance is intended to be used in household.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
  • The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
  • Regarding the instructions for cleaning surfaces in contact with food or oil, refer to the section "Cleaning and Maintenance" of the manual.
  • The outer surface may get hot when the appliance is operating.
    The surfaces are liable to get hot during use.

  • The temperature of accessible surfaces may be high when the appliance is operating.

  • Do not touch hot surface. Use the handle while moving the product.
  • Do not place the appliance in or near hot gas or electric burner, or permit to touch a heated oven or mini oven.

  • Never place the power cord on top of the heating base while it is hot because the power cord

may get damaged. Make sure that the thermostat is set to minimum position before plugging the appliance in the mains socket.

  • Never place the appliane directly on a plastic tablecloth or on a fragile or sloping surface.
  • Do not use the pot if it is damaged.
  • Never cover the appliance while it is operating.
  • Do not touch the hot items of the appliance while it is in use.
  • Do not use frozen meat to avoid oil splashing or spillage due to contact between water and hot oil. Oil splashing due to contact with frozen water can lead to serious skin burning.
  • Beware of grease splashing and hot steam that may occur when using the appliance.

  • If you are doing a meat fondue, do not mix different oils and do not mix new oil with oil that has been used before. Use only new oil.

  • This appliance is NOT a fryer. It is therefore forbidden to use it to make French fries, donuts, etc.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Remove all packaging materials and make sure all items are in good condition.

Clean the fondue pot, fondue fork ring and forks in warm soapy water.

Rinse and dry them thoroughly.

Wipe surfaces of heating base with a slightly damp cloth and dry.

OPERATION

This appliance can be used for a cheese fondue, a meat fondue (with oil), a Chinese fondue (with water) or a chocolate fondue.

  1. Place the heating base on a level, stable, heat-resistant surface, away from any edge.
  2. Depending on the type of fondue you would like to prepare, put the chocolate, cheese, oil or water into the pot, observing the minimum and maximum filling levels marked inside the pot.

  3. Caution: Never mix water and oil: this can be very dangerous.

  4. To melt quickly and evenly, it is recommended to use diced or grated cheese and chocolate broken in small pieces.

  1. Position the fork ring on the top of the fondue pot.
  2. Make sure that the rim of the fork ring sits firmly on the edge of the fondue pot.
  3. Plug the appliance into the mains socket, making sure that the cable cannot be trapped or make the appliance tip over. The appliance must be grounded.
  4. Make sure that the thermostat knob is set at the MIN position.
  5. Turn the thermostat knob to the desired position.
  6. The red indicator light will illuminate, indicating that the appliance is operating.
  7. When you using the appliance for the first time, there may be a slight odour and smoke emitted. This should disappear after a few minutes and it is normal.
  8. For the classic meat fondue, turn the thermostat knob to the MAX position. For cheese, Chinese and chocolate fondue, it is recommended to set the thermostat to the medium position.
  9. During cooking, the red indicator light will cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature.

  10. Gently dip your food (sliced/cut in cubes or small bite pieces) into the pot, using the supplied forks. Lay the forks on the dedicated notches on the fork ring.

  11. Caution: to prevent oil from splattering, make sure that the food has been perfectly drained. If you are using frozen food, you must first ensure that they have defrosted completely.
  12. After cooking, take the forks out and drop the food on your plate.

Caution: never put the fondue fork directly in your mouth, you could get seriously burnt!

  1. Once finished, turn the thermostat knob to the MN position and unplug the appliance.

  2. The red indicator light will go out.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Turn the thermostat knob to the MIN position and then unplug the appliance from the mains socket. Allow it to cool down to room temperature before cleaning.

Clean the fondue pot, fondue fork ring and forks in warm soapy water. Rinse and dry them thoroughly. Clean the heating base using a slightly damp cloth. Do not immerse it in water or any other liquid. Never use any abrasive or chemical cleaning agents.

Surfaces in contact with food should be cleaned regularly to avoid cross contamination from different types of food, the use of warm clean water with a mild detergent is advisable when dealing with surfaces that come into contact with food. Correct food hygiene practices should always be followed at all times to avoid possibility of food poisoning /cross contamination.
