Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, (1) the marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance, (2) the cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or table-top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally and (3) the extension cord must include a 3-prong grounding plug.

OPERATING YOUR BREVILLE PRODUCT
Before first use, remove and safely discard any packing material, promotional labels and tape from the waffle maker.
- Wipe the waffle maker cooking plates with a damp sponge or cloth. Dry thoroughly and close the lid.
- Place the waffle maker on a flat, dry surface. Ensure there is a minimum distance of 4" (10cm) of space on all sides of the waffle maker. Do not place anything on top of the waffle maker.
- Unwind the power cord completely and insert the power plug into a grounded 110/120V power outlet.
- Turn the POWER|MENU dial clockwise until the dial indicator reaches the desired waffle type or choose the CUSTOM setting. 'HEATING' will be displayed on the LCD.
NOTE
When using the waffle maker for the first time, you may notice a fine smoke haze. This is caused by the initial heating of some of the components and is not a cause for concern.
- Use the darkness control dial to adjust the brownness of your waffle. There are 12 darkness settings ranging from LIGHT to DARK. The waffle maker will adjust the cooking time based on your selected waffle color. When making your first waffle, we suggest using default setting '6'.
- Once the waffle maker has completed preheating, an audible alert will sound and the LCD will turn orange.
-
Open the lid. The LCD will turn blue and 'Close lid to start' will appear. Fill the provided dosing cup with batter, then pour approximately 12 cup evenly on the center of each waffle square. The batter should cover the peaks of the waffle plate.
-
Close the lid but keep the locking latch open. The LCD will turn orange and the countdown timer will automatically start.
- At the end of the cooking cycle, an audible alert will sound and 'End' will appear on the LCD. Open the lid and carefully remove your waffles. Do not use metal utensils as they can scratch the non-stick surface.
NOTE
If waffles are not removed immediately after the cooking cycle has completed, an audible alert will sound every 30 seconds.
- To cook more waffles, repeat steps 7-9 above. If the countdown timer needs to be reset, press the RESTART button.
NOTE
The cooking time may change on repeat batches. This is Waffle IQ ^™ calculating the cooking time depending on the selected waffle type, darkness setting and temperature of the cooking plates.
- If you are not cooking any more waffles, turn the POWER|MENU dial to the OFF position.
A BIT MORE®
If your waffle color is too light, one press of this button adds a little extra cooking time. This feature can be selected before, during or immediately after the cooking cycle has finished. The additional cooking time is proportional to the total cooking time of the selected waffle type and darkness setting.
CARE & CLEANING
Before cleaning, ensure the POWER | MENU dial is set to the OFF position and then remove the power plug from the power outlet.
Allow your waffle maker to cool a bit before cleaning. The waffle maker is easier to clean when slightly warm.
Always clean your waffle maker after each use to prevent a buildup of baked-on foods. Wipe cooking plates and overflow moat with a soft cloth to remove food residue.

CAUTION
DO NOT IMMERSE ANY PART OF THE BREVILLE WAFFLE MAKER IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID.
PFOA-FREE NON-STICK COATING
The cooking plates, hinges and overflow moat are coated with a PFOA-FREE non-stick finish. This minimizes the need for oil, prevents food from sticking, and makes cleaning easier.
Do not use metal or other abrasive cleaning tools on non-stick surfaces as they will damage the coating. Use only warm soapy water and remove stubborn residue with a non-abrasive plastic scouring pad or nylon brush.
NOTE
Do not use non-stick cooking sprays as they can impact the performance of the non-stick surface on the cooking plates.
STORAGE
To store your waffle maker:
- Ensure the POWER | MENU dial is set to the OFF position and then unplug power cord from the power outlet.
- Allow the waffle maker to cool completely.
- Set the locking latch to the locked position.
- Wrap the power cord around the cord wrap area below the waffle maker.
- Store the waffle maker on a flat, dry level surface.
NOTE
The locking latch should not be used when batter is in the cooking plates.
