1. Connect a section of solid copper wire to the pigtail leads.

2. Connect the aluminum wiring to the added section of

copper wire using special connectors and/or tools designed and UL listed for joining copper to aluminum. ■ Follow the electrical connector manufacturer’s recommended procedure. Aluminum/copper connection must conform with local codes and industry accepted wiring practices. ■ Wire sizes and connections must conform with the rating of the appliance as specied on the model/serial rating plate. The model serial plate is located behind the lter on the rear wall of the range hood. ■ Wire sizes must conform to the requirements of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 (latest edition), or CSA Standards C22. 1-94, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 and C22.2 No. 0-M91 (latest edition) and all local codes and ordinances. Venting Requirements (ducted models only)

• Vent system must terminate outdoors.

• Do not terminate the vent system in an attic or other enclosed area.

• Do not use a 4” (10.2 cm) laundry-type wall cap.

• Use metal vent only. Rigid metal vent is recommended. Plastic or metal foil vent is not recommended.

• The length of the vent system and the number of elbows should be kept to a minimum to provide efcient performance. For the most efcient and quiet operation:

• Use no more than three 90° elbows.

• Make sure there is a minimum of 30” (76.2 cm) of straight vent between the elbows if more than 1 elbow is used.

• Do not install 2 elbows together.

• Use clamps to seal all joints in the vent system.

• The vent system must have a damper. If the roof or wall cap has a damper, do not use the damper supplied with the range hood.

• Use caulking to seal the exterior wall or roof opening around the cap.

• The size of the vent should be uniform. Venting Methods To use the hood’s top outlet to vent your hood, a 10” (25.4 cm) round vent system is required.This vent systems are not included and must be purchased separately. NOTE Flexible vent is not recommended. Flexible vent creates back pressure and air turbulence that greatly reduce performance. The vent system can terminate either through the roof or wall. To vent through a wall, a 90° elbow is needed. Mounting Height Mount the hood no less than 30” (76.2 cm) above an electric cooking surface, no less than 32” (81.2 cm) above a gas cooking surface, and no higher than 36” (91.4 cm) above either surface. It is the installer’s responsibility to ensure the range hood complies with the instal- lation clearances specied for the product.

• It is recommended that the vent system be installed before the hood is installed.

• If possible, disconnect and move freestanding or slide-in ranges from cabinet openings to provide easier access to the rear wall.

• Before making cutouts, make sure there is proper clearance within the ceiling or wall for the exhaust vent.

• Conrm that all installation parts have been removed from the shipping carton.

1. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker panel or fuse box.

2. Determine which venting method to use: roof or wall exhaust.

NOTE: This hood is factory set to vent through the top air exit.

3. Select a at surface for assembling the range hood.

⁄16″ (32 cm) Installation8 English Wall Installation WARNING USE TWO OR MORE PEOPLE TO MOVE AND INSTALL THE RANGE HOOD. FAILURE TO DO SO CAN RESULT IN BACK OR OTHER INJURY. The hood is attached to the wall with a wood support that is attached to the inside back of the hood. To support the hood safely, the wood support must be xed rmly to at least 2 vertical wooden studs that are located behind the sheetrock that makes up the wall. NOTE: These instructions are not applicable to masonary (brick, concrete, etc.) walls. If you have a masonary wall, consult a professional installer. IMPORTANT: The studs (or wall if you have a masonary wall) must be capable of supporting up to 150 lbs. NOTE: If your kitchen has wood framing, at least 2 screws provided for mounting this range hood must be fastened into solid wood studs. Do not fasten into sheetrock only. NOTE: Mark the Range Hood knockouts on the wall and make the necessary cutouts before installing the hood. Installation Instructions if you have wood framing:

1. Determine and mark the centerline on the wall where the hood will

2. Select a mounting height “X” (See D below).

• For gas cooktop & range installations: Mount the hood so the bottom is at least 32” (81.2 cm) above the cooking surface.

• For electric/induction cooktop & range installations: Mount the hood so the bottom is at least 30” (76.2 cm) above the cooking surface.

3. Mark a horizontal reference line on the wall (B below) for the bottom

of the hood. Use a level to conrm that the line is level.

4. Find and mark the location of the wood studs or wood supports

5. Draw a line 15 3⁄8” (39.1cm) above the reference line for the bottom

of the hood to mark the wood support location on the wall. Use a level to conrm that the line is level.

6. Remove the wood support from the back of the hood by loosening

the 2 screws from the inside.

7. Line the top of the wood support up with the wood support location

line on the wall, and then center it on the center line.

8. Locate the marks for the studs, and then draw two vertical lines

on the wood support marking where the studs intersect with the wood support.

9. Mark the center of each line, remove the wood support from the

wall, and then drill a pilot hole at each mark.

10. Again, line the top of the wood support up with the wood support

location line, and then center it on the center line.

11. Push a pencil point or awl through the holes you just drilled in the

wood support (A) to mark the location of the pilot holes for two screws that will go into the studs.

12. Also mark the locations of two additional pilot holes (B) by pushing a

pencil point or awl through pre-drilled holes in the center of the wood support. These holes are for the supplied wall anchors. See the diagram below.

13. Remove the wood support, and then drill four pilot holes into the wall.

14. Push two of the supplied wall anchors into the two pilot holes at the

15. Fasten the wood support to the wall by screwing 2 xing screws

6 x 80 mm (.25 x 3.15 in) through the wood support into the pilot holes you drilled in the studs.

16. Using the rear installation diagram as a guide (See page 7), cut the

knockout wiring holes in the wall.

17. Screw two 6 x 80 mm (.25 x 3.15 in) screws screws into the holes (B)

in the center of the wood support. Screw them through the support into the anchors underneath. Leave a 1⁄4”(6.4mm) gap between the wall and the back of the screw head to slide range the hood into place.

⁄16” (38.5 cm) NOTE: Once the hood is mounted you must tighten these screws. Complete Preparation

1. Determine and make all necessary cuts in the wall or roof for the vent

system. Install the vent system before installing the range hood. See the “Venting Methods” section.

2. Determine the location where the power supply cable will be run

through the wall. Installation InstallationEnglish 9

⁄4” (3.2 cm) hole at this location.

4. Pull enough power supply cable through the wall to allow for easy

connection to the terminal box.

5. Remove the terminal box cover and set aside.

6. Install the 10” (25.4 cm) square x 10” (25.4 cm) round vent transition

with damper to the top of the range hood (depending on your installation), using 4- 3.5 x 9.5 (.15 x.37 in) mm screws.

7. Remove the knockout from the back of the range hood and install a

UL listed or CSA approved

⁄2” (1.3 cm) strain relief.

A. 4 - 3.5x9.5 mm screwsB. Knockout NOTE: The exhaust adaptor/damper can be installed up to 1 inch on either side of the hood center to accomodate off-center ductwork. In extreme off-center installations, one end of the duct connector may need to be trimmed to clear the electrical cable clamp.

8. Place the range hood near its mounting position and run the power

supply cable through the strain relief into the terminal box (enough to make connection).

9. Tighten the strain relief screws.

10. Make the electrical connection. See the “Electrical connection”

section. Mounting the hood NOTE: Mark the Range Hood knockouts on the wall, and then make the necessary cutouts before the installation. NOTE: The range hood attaches to the wall by the 6 mounting screws in the wood support mounted to the wall. To mount the hood, follow these steps:

1. Using 2 or more people, hang the range hood on the wall by placing

the 2 screws mounted in the wood support attached to the wall through the wide portion of the slotted holes in the back of the range hood. NOTE: If your installation uses the optional duct cover, the vent system needs to be connected to the range hood and the duct cover mounted to the top of the range hood before you tighten the mounting screws.

2. Pull the range hood down so the screws protrude through the narrow

portions of the slots, align the bottom of the hood with the horizontal line marking the hood bottom, level the hood, and then tighten the 2 mounting screws.

3. Mark 2 lower mounting hole locations. Drill

⁄8” (0.32 cm) pilot holes if the holes will be drilled into wood studs or framing. If the holes will not be drilled into wood, drill two

⁄8” (0.95 cm) pilot holes and insert 10 x 50 mm (.4 x 2 in) wall anchors. Install 2 - 6 x 80 mm (.25 x 3.15 in) screws with 5.3 x 20 mm (.21 x .8 in) washers (D and C) into the lower mounting holes, and then tighten.

4. Install the 4 - 4.2 x 19 mm (.17 x .75 in) screws (B) through the back

of the hood into the wood support, and then tighten.

5. Connect the vent system to the hood. Seal all joint with clamps.

• Connect the black wire from the service panel to the black or the red in the junction box. Connect the white to white and green to green-yellow.

• Close and secure the junction box cover. Completing the installation Replace the lters and check the operation of the hood. If the range hood does not operate:

• Conrm that the circuit breaker is not tripped or the house fuse blown.

• Disconnect the power supply, and then check if the wiring is correct.

• To get the most efcient use from your new range hood, read the “Range Hood Use” section.

• Keep these Installation Instructions and Use and Care Guide close to range hood for easy reference. Installation InstallationEnglish 11 Range Hood Use Range Hood Description

• Press the POWER button and the hood will turn on at the default speed (Default Speed: Low).

• Press again and the hood fan will return to sleep mode. B. LOW

• Press the LOW button and the hood will be turn on at Low speed. C. MED

• Press the MED button and the hood will be turn on at Medium speed. D. HIGH

• Press the HIGH button and the hood will be turn on at High speed. E. BOOST

• Press the BOOST button and the hood will be activated at Maximum speed for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the hood fan will slow to High speed. F. AUTO

• Press the Auto button to activate the Auto Heat-Sensing feature. When Auto is activated, the fan speed will increase as the cooktop heat increases and decrease as the cooktop heat decreases.

• To turn off Auto Heat-Sensing, press one of the hood speed buttons (Low, Medium, High or Boost). This will disable the Auto Heat-Sensing feature. To re-enable Auto Heat-Sensing feature, press the Auto button. If there is minimal heat produced from the cooktop (even when the cooktop is off or not connected via Bluetooth), the hood will operate at low speed until heat is no longer sensed by the hood. The Auto Heat-Sensing feature does not require the hood to be con- nected via Bluetooth with a compatible Samsung cooktop. G. Timer Display Shows the timer settings. H. Timer Setting the timer ON

• Press the Timer button to set the working time.

• Each time you press the Timer, you add 10 minutes to the displayed time, up to a maximum of 99 minutes. The hood fan will stay on for the amount of time you have set. After the Timer counts down to zero, the Timer LED light will start to blink. The Timer LED will blink for 5 seconds, and then the hood fan will turn off automatically.

• Press the Light button. The lights comes on at the high setting.

• Press the Light button a second time. The lights become dimmer.

• Press the Light button a third time, The lights turn off. Sound Muting / Unmuting the hood.

• Press and hold the Light button for 3 seconds to turn off the hood sounds.

• Press and hold again to turn on the sounds. Range Hood Use12 English Range Hood Use

COOKTOP AND RANGE HOOD CONNECTIVITY

This appliance has a feature which allows you to pair compatible Samsung cooktops and your hood via Bluetooth. After you enable this function and pair your hood and a compatible cooktop, the hood fan will automatically come on at Low speed when you turn on a cooktop element. The hood fan will also shut off automatically when you turn off the cooktop elements. In addition, after the hood and compatible cooktop are paired, you can download the Smart Things app to a mobile device, and then use the Smart Things app to:

• Monitor and control the On/Off status of the hood.

• Monitor and control the fan speed.

• Monitor and control the lights.

• Set the hood shut-off timer with the time-up alarm. For more information about downloading the Smart Thing app to your mobile device and using it to control your hood, visit: www.samsung.com. Bluetooth connection (Pairing)

1. Press the Auto Connectivity button on the hood for 3 seconds. The

pairing mode will be activated and the Bluetooth icon will blink.

2. Press the Auto Connectivity button on the cooktop.

NOTE For a detailed description of the pairing method, see the user manual of a compatible Samsung cooktop.

3. After the pairing process nishes, the Bluetooth light will stay lit and

J. Auto Connectivity The Auto Connectivity function lets you quickly connect the hood via Bluetooth with a compatible Samsung cooktop after the hood and cooktop have been paired. To turn the function on, press the Auto Connectivity button. To turn the function off and disconnect the hood and cooktop, press the Auto Connectivity button again. While the hood and cooktop are connected, the hood fan will automatically turn on when you turn on the cooktop. The hood fan will also turn off automatically when you turn off the cooktop You will also be able to control the hood with the Smart Things app as described above. Note that the hood fan speed will turn on at:

• Auto speed (if the Auto button was last enabled)

• Low speed (if the Auto button was last disabled)

1. Press the Auto Connectivity button to activate the function.

2. The hood will turn on/off automatically when you turn cooktop

3. Press again to deactivate the function.

• Press the POWER button for 3 seconds to reset the lter alarm. NOTE Every 50 hours of fan use, the lter alarm light (low button) will blink, indicating the lters may need to be cleaned. CAUTION

• Do not activate the Boost function unless your hood’s ventilation system has been designed to handle the increased airow created by the Boost function and has been installed by a qualied technician. We recommend that a qualied technician install the range hood. It is the installer’s responsibility to ensure the range hood complies with the installation specications for the product. To activate Power mode, a professionally installed Make-up air system is required. Makeup Air

• When using ventilation systems with greater than specied CFM of air movement, review local building codes as they may require makeup air systems. Consult a HVAC professional for specic requirements for your area as CFM requirements can vary between locales.

• Consult an HVAC professional to select the correct CFM capacity range hood for your application. The CFM capacity depends on the range or cooktop BTU rating, size and location, size of the kitchen and the range hood ductwork in the kitchen. Range Hood UseEnglish 13 Range Hood Care Cleaning Exterior surfaces: To avoid damage to the exterior surface, do not use steel wool or soap- lled scouring pads. Do not use chlorine based cleaners. Rub in the direction of the grain line to avoid scratching the surface.

• For a thorough cleaning, us Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish.

• For everyday cleaning, use a mild liquid detergent and water. Dry thoroughly.

• For a quick cleaning, wipe with a damp soft cloth or nonabrasive sponge, then rinse with clean water and wipe dry. NOTE: Always wipe dry to avoid water marks. Metal lters and drip tray:

2. Remove the grease drip tray.

3. Remove the drip tray from the drip tray bracket.

4. Wash metal lters and grease trays as needed in a dishwasher or hot

detergent solution to clean.

5. Replace the grease drip tray.

6. To reinstall the lters, grasp the lter handles with both hands and

then place the front edge of the lter into the hood.

7. Push up on the back the handle, and then set rear of lter into the

drip tray to secure. Repeat for each lter
