9. Power cord and plug

• Remove all packaging material and check whether the appliance is complete.

• Fully unwind the power cord (9) and make sure that the power cord(9) is clamped into the cable guide (10) (rear side).

• Placetheapplianceonanevenandheatresistantsurface. Do not place it on top of a metal surface.

• Connect the appliance to a properly installed wall socket and boil 4-5 kettles of water using fresh water with each boiling cycle. Do not use this water but pour it away.

Warning: Plastic bags are a danger to toddlers and

babies, therefore keep them away to avoid suffocation. 4. Connect it to the mains and switch on the water kettle by

pressingtheOn/Offbutton(7),whichislocatedatthelower endofthehandle(6).Theindicatorlightlightsup.

5. As soon as the water boils the appliance switches off

6.Liftthekettle(1)offthebase(8).Thewaterisnowreadyfor use. YoucanstoptheboilingprocessanytimebypushingtheOn/ Offbutton(7)upwardorbyremovingthekettlefromthebase. Waterleftoverfromapreviousboilingcyclecanbere-used in the next boiling cycle. However, always make sure that the water level is not too low. Always unplug the appliance after use. Dry-boil cut-out Yourkettleisequippedwithaboil-drycut-out,whichwillswitch off the kettle automatically, should it accidentally be operated without water or by not observing the minimum water level. In the event of such a safety cut-out, unplug the appliance immediately and let it cool down for approx. 10 minutes. Afterwards, your kettle is ready for use again. Cleaning and Care Before cleaning, always switch off the appliance and disconnect it from the mains. Let it completely cool down. Neverimmersetheapplianceinwater.Danger! Electric Shock! Clean the body of the appliance with a moistened soft cloth. Donotuseanyaggressivecleaningagentsand/orotherhard objects to clean the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.18 DESCALING Descaleyourapplianceinregularintervals(approx.every3– 6months),dependingonthefrequencyofuseandthelocal waterquality. Never use any sharp, pointed or metal objects to remove limescale built up in the kettle. To remove limescale, use a common gentle descaler, which is suitable for your appliance. Afterdescaling,alwaysboil4-5kettlesofwater,whichyoudo not use but pour away. Use fresh water with each boiling cycle. This procedure is necessary to remove any descaler residues in the kettle. Note: Descaler mixtures should not be poured down enamel coated sinks. Storage After use and after the appliance has completely cooled down windthepowercable(9)aroundthecordstorage(11).
