Frequently Asked Questions - 20116 KORONA

How do I descale the kettle?
Use a common gentle descaler suitable for kettles. Fill the kettle with the descaler solution up to the MAX mark, boil, and let sit for 15 minutes. Empty and rinse thoroughly. Then boil 4-5 kettles of fresh water, discarding each batch, to remove any residues. Do not use sharp objects for descaling.
What happens if I operate the kettle without water?
The kettle has a boil-dry cut-out feature that automatically switches it off. Unplug the kettle immediately and let it cool down for about 10 minutes before reusing. It will be ready for normal operation after cooling.
Can I heat other liquids besides water?
No, this kettle is only intended for boiling water. Heating other liquids can damage the appliance and cause injury.
What is the minimum and maximum water level?
The minimum level is 0.5 L and the maximum is 1.0 L. Operating below the minimum can cause overheating; overfilling may result in boiling water spilling out.
How do I clean the kettle?
Always unplug and let the kettle cool completely. Wipe the exterior with a damp soft cloth. Do not immerse in water. Clean the removable filter under running water with a soft nylon brush. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
Why doesn't the kettle turn off automatically?
Ensure the lid is properly closed; automatic shut-off only works if the lid is secure. If the problem persists, the kettle may need descaling or professional inspection.
Can I open the lid while boiling?
No, never open the lid during operation. Steam can cause burns. Wait until the kettle has switched off and cooled down.
Is the kettle cordless when removed from the base?
Yes, the kettle lifts off the base for cordless pouring. The base remains plugged in. Always switch off the kettle before removing it from the base.
Where can I get replacement filters?
Replacement filters can be obtained from KORONA service or authorized dealers. Contact KORONA at service@korona-electric.de or call 02933 90284-80.
What should I do if the cord is damaged?
Stop using the kettle immediately. Do not attempt to repair it yourself. Contact KORONA service or a qualified electrician for replacement. A damaged cord poses an electric shock hazard.
