General Information About this operating manual This operating manual describes how to operate and maintain your product safely. Keep this operating manual in a safe place for future reference. If you pass this product on to someone else, pass on this operating manual as well. Failure to observe this operating manual may result in injuries or damage to your product. - Disposal Intended use This fridge and freezer thermometer is designed for private use. It is not suitable for commercial use. Safety This product may be used by children aged 8 and above, as well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capacities or lacking experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the product and understand the risks that may arise. Children must not play with the product. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children, unless they are 8 years of age or older and are being supervised.27 p. 4026
Batteries can be life-threatening. Therefore, keep batteries out of reach of small children. If a battery has been swallowed or has entered the body in any other way, seek medical help immediately. Failure to do so within 2 hours may result in severe internal burns that could cause death. DANGER for children Keep children away from packaging material. There is a risk of choking if swallowed. RISK of fire/burning and/or explosion There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced improperly. Replace batteries only with the same or equivalent battery type. Observe the “Technical data”. Batteries must not be recharged, reactivated by other means, dismantled, thrown into fire, or short-circuited.28 Otherwise, there is an increased risk of explosion and leakage; furthermore, gases may escape! Avoid contact of the battery fluid with skin, eyes, and mucosa. In case of contact, immediately rinse the affected areas with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor. BEWARE of material damage Protect the thermometer from strong shocks, vibrations and moisture. Remove the batteries from the device when they are depleted or when the Item clock will not be used for a longer period of time. This prevents damage that may be caused by leakage.29
When inserting and changing batteries, pay attention to the correct polarity (+/-). Do not expose batteries to extreme conditions, for example, by storing them on radiators or under direct sunlight. Increased risk of leakage! Clean the battery and device contacts, as needed, before inserting the battery. Do not make any changes to the product. Only allow repairs to be carried out by a specialist workshop. Repairs carried out improperly can considerably endanger the user. Starting up Removing iso-strips When the scales are delivered, the battery is already inserted and fitted with iso-strips to prevent it from discharging ahead of time. To put the thermometer into operation, you must remove the iso-strip.
1. Use a coin or equivalent to turn the battery
compartment cover counter-clockwise as far as it will go and remove it.
2. Remove the iso-strip, replace the battery
compartment cover and turn it clockwise as far as it will go. Shortly after the thermometer is powered, the display will show the measured temperature.33
Changing the battery For use, you need a CR2032, 3V battery.
1. Remove the battery compartment cover and
then remove the old battery.
2. Slide the new battery against the contact
spring under the square retaining tabs and press them down. Observe the correct polarity (+/-). The plus pole (+) must point upwards.
3. Replace the battery compartment cover.
Notes on changing the battery: The batteries must be changed when nothing is shown on the display. Only use the battery type specified in the “Technical Data”. Dispose of old batteries in an environmentally friendly manner, see “Disposal”.34 Use NOTE on material damage For magnetic attachment: Do not slide the Thermometer over the surface as this could cause scratches. Setting upright The thermometer is suitable for use in the fridge or freezer. − When you fold the foot all the way down, you can place the thermometer upright. − When you fold the foot all the way up, you can hang up the thermometer or attach it to a wall with the magnet or suction cup (depending on the surface). Moisten the suction cup slightly in advance, if necessary.35
When the temperature is in the range of approx. 4 °C to 8 °C (39.2 °F to 36.4 °F), the display shows the adjacent symbol. Generally, this is the optimum temperature range for a fridge. Power on/off Once the thermometer is powered, it will be enabled and the measured temperature will be displayed. − Press the ON/OFF button to turn the device off and on again. Calling up MAX and MIN values − Repeatedly press the MAX/MIN button: Press 1x: MAX values are displayed Press 2x: MIN values are displayed Press 3x: Currently measured temperature values are displayed.36 To delete stored MAX/MIN values: − Press and hold down the MAX/MIN button for approx. 2 seconds. Choosing the unit of measurement − Press the °F/°C button to toggle between degrees Fahrenheit and degrees Celsius (default). Cleaning NOTE on material damage Do not immerse the Thermometer in water or other liquids. Do not use rough, scratching or abrasive cleaning agents. − If necessary, wipe the thermometer with a soft, dry cloth, or with a slightly damp cloth.37
Fault and remedy No function. Is the battery empty or inserted the wrong way around? The display shows obviously wrong values, display or function is unclear. Remove the battery and replace shortly thereafter. In the event of a warranty claim, please return the product with the proof of purchase (specifying the reason for claim) to your dealer.40 Disposal Disposing of the packaging Dispose of the packaging with similar materials. Dispose of cardboard with waste paper and of films with recyclable materials. Disposing of the product Dispose of the product in accordance with the regulations that apply in your country. Devices must not be disposed of in normal household waste. At the end of its life, the product must be disposed of in an appropriate way.
