Frequently Asked Questions - AMN3210 ARTHUR MARTIN

How to adjust the temperature of my Arthur Martin AMN3210 refrigerator?
To adjust the temperature, press the thermostat button until the LED indicator corresponding to the desired temperature appears. The selection is made progressively from +2°C (coldest) to +8°C (warmest). An intermediate setting is usually the most suitable. The interior temperature depends on the ambient temperature, door opening frequency, amount of food, and the appliance's location.
What to do if the appliance does not cool?
First check if the appliance is turned on and the plug is properly inserted. Make sure the ambient temperature is not too high. If the compressor runs continuously, it may be due to a door not closed properly, an inappropriate temperature setting, or introducing too many hot foods. Refer to the 'In case of malfunction' chapter of the manual for more details.
How to activate the Shopping function?
To activate the Shopping function, press the Shopping button (3). The corresponding LED indicator lights up. This function allows rapid cooling of food. It deactivates automatically after 6 hours or by pressing the button again.
What to do in case of frost accumulation?
The refrigerator has automatic defrosting. If frost accumulates, check that the door is properly closed and the gasket is clean. Make sure the drain plug of the defrost water drainage channel is properly in place. If the problem persists, clean the drain hole located in the middle of the refrigerator compartment.
How to clean the defrost water drain hole?
The drain hole is located in the middle of the refrigerator compartment. Clean it regularly with a soft cloth or a non-metallic rod to prevent any blockage. A blocked hole can cause water overflow inside the appliance.
What to do if the interior lighting does not work?
The lighting is LED type. If the light does not turn on, close and open the door to reactivate it. If the problem persists, contact an authorized after-sales service, because the replacement of the lighting must be done by a professional.
How to replace the bulb (LED lighting)?
The lighting is LED and cannot be replaced by the user. In case of failure, contact an authorized after-sales service. Any unauthorized intervention may damage the appliance.
How to properly install the appliance?
Install the appliance in a dry, well-ventilated indoor room, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Leave space for air circulation at the back. After installation, wait at least 4 hours before plugging in the appliance to allow the compressor oil to flow back.
What to do in case of abnormal noise?
Some noises are normal: gurgling of refrigerant, hum of compressor, cracking due to thermal expansion, and clicking of thermostat. If the appliance is noisy, check its stability. If the noise persists, contact after-sales service.
How to save energy with this refrigerator?
Avoid opening the door too often and leave it open only as long as necessary. If the ambient temperature is high, set the thermostat to a higher position to avoid continuous compressor operation. Clean the condenser and compressor at the back of the appliance regularly to improve performance and reduce electricity consumption.

HINTS AND TIPS

Normal operating sounds

The following sounds are normal during operation:

  • A faint gurgling and bubbling sound from coils sound when refrigerant is pumped.
  • A whirring and pulsating sound from the compressor when refrigerant is pumped.
  • A sudden cracking noise from inside appliance caused by thermic dilatation (a natural and not dangerous physical phenomenon).
  • A faint click noise from the temperature regulator when the compressor switches on or off.

When the ventilation slots are closed: the natural moisture content of the food in the fruit and vegetable compartments is preserved for longer.

When the ventilation slots are opened: more air circulation results in a lower air moisture content in the fruit and vegetable compartments.

Hints for energy saving

  • Do not open the door frequently or leave it open longer than absolutely necessary.
  • If the ambient temperature is high and the Temperature Regulator is set to low temperature and the appliance is fully loaded, the compressor may run continuously, causing frost or ice on the evaporator. If this happens, set the Temperature Regulator toward warmer settings to allow automatic defrosting and so a saving in electricity consumption.

Hints for fresh food refrigeration

To obtain the best performance:

  • do not store warm food or evaporating liquids in the refrigerator

  • do cover or wrap the food, particularly if it has a strong flavour

  • position food so that air can circulate freely around it

Hints for refrigeration

Useful hints:

  • Meat (all types): wrap in a suitable packaging and place it on the glass shelf above the vegetable drawer. Store meat for at most 1-2 days.
Cooked foods, cold dishes: cover and place on any shelf.

The equipment has to be cleaned regularly:

  • Fruit and vegetables: clean thoroughly and place in a special drawer. Bananas, potatoes, onions and garlic must not be kept in the refrigerator if not packed.
Butter and cheese: place in a special airtight container or wrap in an aluminium foil or a polythene bag to exclude as much air as possible.

  • Regularly check the door seals and wipe clean to ensure they are clean and free from debris.
  • Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • If accessible, clean the condenser and the compressor at the back of the appliance with a brush. This operation will improve the performance of the appliance and save electricity consumption.

Defrosting of the refrigerator

Frost is automatically eliminated from the evaporator of the refrigerator compartment every time the motor compressor stops, during normal use. The defrost water drains out through a trough into a special container at the back of the appliance, over the motor compressor, where it evaporates.

It is important to periodically clean the defrost water drain hole in the middle of the refrigerator compartment channel to prevent the water overflowing and dripping onto the food inside.
