How to use the MAX 45505 heat gun?

Turn on the heat gun by setting the On/Off switch to the desired position: position I (350 °C, 300 l/min) or position II (600 °C, 500 l/min). Point the nozzle at the workpiece. Avoid prolonged exposure to the same spot. Turn off by placing the switch in the middle position 0 and allow it to cool for 30 minutes before storing.

What are the safety precautions?

Do never use this heat gun as a hair dryer. Do not direct it at people, animals, or fragile/flammable objects. The nozzle becomes hot: do not touch it until completely cool. Wear a protective mask if stripping lead-based paints. Do not use near flammable liquids or gases, or in poorly ventilated areas.

What to do if smoke comes out during first use?

A small amount of smoke may escape during first use. This is normal and does not mean the heat gun is defective. Continue using the device normally.

How to strip paint with this device?

Soften the paint or varnish with hot air, then remove it with a clean, sharp scraper. Avoid overexposure which could burn the paint and make it harder to remove. On glass surfaces, use the heat gun carefully to avoid cracking the glass.

How to shape plastic pipes?

Fill the plastic pipe with sand and seal both ends to prevent it from breaking under heat. Heat evenly by moving the nozzle back and forth, then bend the pipe once softened.

How to use heat shrink tubing?

Make sure the diameter of the heat shrink tubing is large enough for the workpiece. Gently heat the tubing with the heat gun until it shrinks evenly.

How to defrost hydraulic pipes?

Do never confuse hydraulic pipes with gas pipes. Warm the frozen area starting from the periphery towards the center. Ensure that hot air does not set fire to nearby materials. Be especially careful with plastic sleeves and pipes.

How to clean and maintain the device?

Clean the tool with a slightly damp cloth after use. Ensure all surfaces and ventilation slots are always clean. Never use corrosive or abrasive products that could damage plastic parts.

Where to find the model number?

The model number is indicated on the first page of the manual and on the rating plate of the product. Always mention it when requesting service.

How to dispose of the device at the end of its life?

Do NOT use as a hair dryer or for any other purpose.

Never point at people, animals, expensive, fragile or infl ammable objects.

The nozzle becomes very hot during use. Avoid touching it before it has cooled and never place the gun near infl ammable objects immediately after use.

Do not use near infl ammable liquids or gasses or where there is poor ventilation.

If using the gun to remove paint containing lead or other harmful substances, always wear a protective mask.

Keep the nozzle and ventilation slots clear of dust and paint residues to avoid danger of fire

Use

A small amount of smoke can be emitted when used for the first time. This is normal and does not mean the gun is defective.

Switch on by pushing the on/off button (3) to the desired position. In position I (up) the gun will heat to 350 °C , in position II (down) it will heat to 600 °C .

Direct the nozzle (1) at the item. Examples of use are described below.

Avoid keeping the gun on the same spot for too long, as extended exposure to heat (especially when using setting II) can damage or ignite the item.

Switch off by pushing the on/off button to the middle position 0. Allow to cool for at least 30 minutes before putting it away.

Removal of paint and lacquer, and softening glue

Soften paint/lacquer using hot air and remove it using a scraper. Over-exposing paint or lacquer to hot air can burn it, making it difficult to remove. Use a clean, shar scraper.

When removing paint from glass surfaces, use the heat gun with caution to avoid cracking the glass!

Heat stickers and other forms of glue up to soften them, before peeling or scraping off

Shaping plastic pipes

Fill the pipe with sand and seal both ends. This will prevent it breaking

Apply heat evenly by moving the gun from side to side. Bend the pipe as required when softened.

Shrinking

Ensure diameter of shrink collar is large enough for the item it is to be applied to. Heat gently using the gun.

Thawing water pipes

Note! It is easy to confuse water pipes with gas pipes. Never under any circumstances heat gas pipes!

Always apply heat to the frozen spot from the outside and work inwards.

Ensure the gun does not ignite any materials around the pipe and remember that metal pipes conduct heat.

Plastic pipes and sleeves must be heated with particular care to avoid damage.

Cleaning and maintenance

Clean the tool with a slightly damp cloth after use and always keep all surfaces and ventilation slots (2) clean.

Never use corrosive or abrasive detergents, as they may affect plastic parts
