How to measure rice correctly?
Use the provided measuring cup (180 ml or 3/4 standard cup). One cup of dry rice yields about 2 cups of cooked rice. Do not use a standard 250 ml measuring cup.
Why is my rice sticky or overcooked?
Too much water relative to rice. Follow the water level markings inside the bowl. For white rice, water should reach the line corresponding to the number of cups of rice. For firmer rice, slightly reduce the water.
What to do if the rice overflows?
Do not exceed 8 cups of dry rice and do not fill the bowl beyond the max line. Adding a tablespoon of butter or oil before cooking can reduce overflow. If the rice starts to boil, briefly remove the lid.
How to clean the rice cooker?
Unplug and let cool. The bowl and glass lid are dishwasher safe or can be washed in warm soapy water. Wipe the base with a damp cloth. Never immerse the base in water.
Can I cook other things than rice?
Yes, the appliance can cook soups, stews, steamed vegetables, fish, hot cereals, and even pasta. Use the cooking charts in the manual for quantities and times.
How to use the steaming basket?
Add 375 ml of water (or broth) to the bowl, place food in the basket, set the basket in the bowl, cover, and start cooking. Time varies by food (see cooking chart). The appliance does not automatically switch to WARM mode for steaming.
What does WARM mode mean?
Once the rice is cooked, the appliance automatically switches to WARM mode to keep the rice warm. Let it rest for 15 minutes before serving for better texture. Do not leave small amounts for too long to avoid drying out.
The appliance does not turn on, what to do?
Check that the plug is properly inserted and the outlet works. If the WARM indicator does not light, contact customer service at 1-800-231-9786. Do not attempt to repair yourself.
How to remove starch deposits in the bowl?
Fill the bowl with warm soapy water and let soak for a few minutes. Scrub with a nylon scrubbing pad. Rinse well. The bowl is dishwasher safe.
