SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
When using electrical appliances, always respect the basic safety precautions, including the following:
- Carefully read the instructions for use before using the fryer, and keep these instructions, including the guarantee, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the inner packaging. If you give this appliance to another person, include the instructions for use with it.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use the handles or knobs.
- To avoid electric shock, do not immerse the cord, plug or the entire fryer into water or any other liquid.
- Careful supervision is required when the appliance is being used by children or near them.
- Unplug the appliance from the power outlet when not in use or when it is being cleaned. Allow it to cool down before replacing or removing parts, and before cleaning.
- Never switch on the appliance if the power cord or plug is damaged, if the appliance is not working properly, or if it has suffered any kind of damage. Take the appliance to your nearest authorised technical service for review, repair or adjustment.
- The use of accessories not supplied by PALSON is not recommended as they may cause injury.
- Do not allow the cord to hang over the edge of the table or to touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas, electric hob, or a hot oven.
- Exercise extreme precaution when moving an appliance that contains hot oil or other liquids.
- Do not use the appliance for any purpose other than that for which it is intended.
- This product is not intended for use by children or other persons without assistance or supervision if their physical, sensory or mental condition hinders its safe use. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the product.
- If the power cord is damaged it should be replaced by the manufacturer, their authorised technical service, or by a qualified technician, in order to avoid any danger.
- The appliance is not designed to be operated via an external timer or a remote control system.
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- Never leave the appliance unattended when in operation. If you need to leave the room, make sure the appliance is switched off. Unplug it.
- Periodically check that there is no damage to the exterior of the appliance or the power cord. If you notice any damage, do not use the appliance.
- Do not try to repair the appliance yourself. Always use the services of an authorised technician. To avoid risk, only the manufacturer, their authorised technical service or a qualified person should repair the product or change a defective cable, replacing it always with the same type.
- Use original spare parts only.
- Always keep the packaging (plastic bags, boxes, polystyrene) out of the reach of children to ensure their safety.
- Children must be supervised at all times to ensure that they do not use the appliance as a toy.
- Never mix the water and oil.
- Oils and fats may catch fire if they are too hot. Be careful! Don't forget to turn off
the appliance when you are finished using it! Set the thermostat at the minimum temperature and then unplug the appliance.
- This appliance is intended for cooking food in a large amount of oil. It has been exclusively designed for this purpose and must only be used for this purpose. It should be used only in the way described in the instructions. This fryer is not for industrial use. Any other use of this fryer is unsuitable and may cause material damage or even personal injury.
- Do not use the appliance with an external timer or a remote control system.
PREPARING THE FRYER
Before first use
- Remove the packaging. Take the lid off the fryer. Inside you will find a basket. Remove all objects from the fryer.
- It is strongly recommended to clean the lid, casing, bowl and basket as described in the Cleaning section.
- Remove the power cord from its compartment.
Electrical connection
- Make sure that the voltage of the appliance (see label) is compatible with that of the mains supply.
- The plug should only be connected to a properly installed and grounded power outlet of 220-240V\~50/60Hz.
Connected power
The total energy consumption of this appliance can be up to 2,200 W. With this connected load we recommend a separate supply line protected by a 10 A domestic circuit-breaker.
OVERLOAD PROTECTION:
- If using extension cords, these must have a cable section of at least 1.5 mm.
- Do not use extension sockets, as this appliance is too powerful.
Usage tips
- Before using the appliance, the fryer must be filled with the correct oil.
- Always remove any food residue remaining in the oil. Change the oil after a few uses.
- The oil used must be able to withstand high temperatures. Do not use margarine or butter; they are not suitable for frying because they start to burn at low temperatures.
- To reduce the acrylamide content of foods that contain starch (e.g. potatoes, cereals) the temperature should not exceed 170 °C-175 °C. You should fry for the least amount of time possible, cooking the foods until they are a golden colour only.
- Remember that the safety button (5) is activated when the control panel (3) is inserted into the guide mechanism (11).
- Select the correct temperature for frying and check the type of food you wish to cook. In general, pre-cooked foods require higher temperatures than raw foods.
- Do not move the fryer while the oil is still hot.
- When frying breaded foods, remove any excess coating and place the portions carefully into the oil.
- Make sure that the basket handle (9) is correctly placed. Exert pressure on the two free ends of the handle at the same time. Insert these ends into the corresponding internal anchors of the basket.
- The basket (8) should not be filled to more than 2/3 of its capacity. Do not overload the basket.
- Dry wet foods with a cloth before frying them.
PRECAUTION:
If food items are too moist (e.g. frozen chips) they can create a large amount of foam which, in certain circumstances, could cause the oil to spill over.
USE
- Make sure that the appliance is turned off and unplugged (the power-on indicator (1) is off).
- Remove the lid (10) of the fryer.
- Remove the basket (8) and fill the oil bowl (7) (three litres maximum). The fill level should be somewhere between the minimum and maximum levels.
- Connect the plug to a power outlet. The power-on indicator light will come on (1). Select the desired temperature by turning the temperature control button (2).
- Once the desired temperature has been reached, carefully place the basket (8) with the food you wish to fry into the hot oil.
- Once the set time has elapsed (see the food packaging or recipe), hang the basket (8) in the body of the fryer (6) using the basket hanger (14).
- Let the oil drain off.
- To switch off the fryer, turn the temperature control button (2) to "O" and always unplug the appliance. Wind the cord into a spiral in the compartment designed for this purpose (13).
WARNING
Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool down before cleaning.
PRECAUTION
- Do not use a hard brush or any other abrasive object.
- Do not use abrasive or acidic detergents.
- Do not put this appliance into water under any circumstances.
Oil bowl (7)
To change the oil, remove the oil bowl (7) from the fryer and discard the oil. Clean the bowl (7), the lid (10) and the body of the fryer (6) with a damp cloth and a household detergent if necessary. The basket (8) can be cleaned in the usual way in soapy water.
Body of the fryer (6)
After use, clean the body of the fryer with a slightly damp cloth.
TROUBLESHOOTING
The fryer doesn't work:
- Check that it is connected to the mains.
- Check the position of the thermostat.
Other possible causes:
- The appliance has a safety switch.
- This prevents the heating element from switching on accidentally.
- Check that the control panel (3) is correctly positioned.
Protection against overheating:
- If the fryer is turned on accidentally without any oil inside, the overheating protection system will immediately be activated. You will not be able to use the fryer. Unplug it.
- Wait for the fryer to cool down completely. Then press the RESET button (12) located on the back of the control panel (3) to be able to use the fryer again.
