Game On! Start a fresh game… Introduction Ever since Naruto and the rest of Squad 7 arrived in the United States, their adventures in the Land of Fire and surrounding countryside have become gripping tales of heroism, courage, and the will to persevere. Naruto Uzumaki’s exploits have spilled from the pages of Japan’s Shonen Jump manga series and onto the American Cartoon Network, toy shelves, translated graphic novels, and home consoles around the world.
Shonen Jump NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja Heroes, players are tasked with deciding the outcome of battles between the series’ many talented ninja. As any Naruto fan worth his or her weight in ramen would know, the Naruto animated series develops over the length of various story arcs. Each story arc highlights a new adventure for the world of Naruto, from Naruto’s own inner struggles to attacks on Leaf Village by rogue ninja from neighboring villages. Shonen Jump NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja Heroes picks up the story just before the Chunin Exam! Beginning at the Survival Exercise in the Forest of Death, fans of the series will relive some of the animated series’ most exciting moments while new Naruto fans will find out exactly what makes this knuckleheaded ninja so unique. Get ready to do battle, because this is the only way to walk a mile in Naruto’s sandals. Believe it! You can have a maximum of three save files. Welcome to the Hidden Leaf Village …or load a saved file. The first step in embarking on your journey with Naruto and friends is to select New Game at the Title Screen. Choose New Game whenever you want to start a game with a fresh file. After starting at least one New Game and saving once, you will be able to select Load Game from the Title Screen and pick up where you left off. Game Modes There are several ways to enjoy Shonen Jump’s NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja Heroes. Take part in Heroes Mode or challenge a friend in Wireless Mode. Customize your favorite character in Parameter Power-Up Mode or practice your ninja skills against the computer in VS CPU Mode; learn about every mode here! Heroes Mode Heroes Mode is the Ramen of the game. In it you can choose a pre-made squad or create a custom team with your favorite characters to battle against the various opponent teams! There are several difficulty levels, which increase the number of battles and the opponent difficulty as you progress. So starting out in Easy Difficulty means you have to win five battles against easy opponents, while Normal Difficulty means you must win six battles against slightly tougher opponents. After selecting a team, select the team members’ fighting order, and which skills to use. Once everything is set, you’re off to one of the many battlegrounds. As your team of three fights opponents, their health becomes depleted. Each victory over an opponent refills a bit of your health. If a member of your team is defeated, the next in the fighting order steps up to the plate. If you’ve sustained a lot of damage by the final battle, you’ll have to make do with what little health you have left.
In VS CPU Mode, you can select any one unlocked character and take on the computer in one-on-one battle. In this mode, you can change the Battle Settings. You can also adjust the color of your character’s costume by pressing b before you start the fight. Press p in the Character Select Screen to adjust the rules of the fight to meet your needs. Adjust the following settings before engaging in battle: VS CPU Mode
- Battle Time: 10–99 seconds or No time limit
- Item Appearance: Low, Normal, High
- Chakra: Infinite or Normal
- Handicap: Adjust the red/blue marks to grant 1P or CPU an advantage. 1P has the advantage if there are more red marks. CPU has the advantage if there are more blue marks.
- Reset to Default Settings: t This mode is a perfect practice mode. Not only can you focus on mastering one character at a time, you can also change the rules to create your own challenges and overcome them. Try lowering the time limit to learn how to fight efficiently. Grant the CPU the ultimate advantage with the Handicap option and learn how to defeat more powerful opponents. Or lower the frequency of items to learn how to depend on your fighting skills! Promotion Test In Promotion Test Mode you embark on a series of ranked missions with very specific objectives. The higher the ninja rank, the tougher the missions; of course, you have to earn the right to attempt these missions. You begin the game ranked “Academy” and work your way up to “Hokage.” By completing other tasks, such as beating Heroes Mode at various difficulty settings, you can acquire different colored scrolls. These scrolls are then applied to Promotion Test Mode to unlock higher ranked missions. So while D-Rank missions (Genin-level missions) require 12 of each scroll, the higher rank of C-Rank (Chunin-level missions) requires 24 of each scroll. Select the character you want to be and confirm your selection with
You can also press i to randomly select your character; press i to start Random Select, and stop Random Select by pressing u. If you’ve been powering up a character in Parameter Power-Up, you can use your augmented character here! Simply place the cursor over the character you want to be and press v to display the parameters of your powered-up character, then select the character. Once you select your character, the Vs. Screen will appear and the Mission Requirements will be displayed. You are now ready to begin battle! Wireless Mode In Wireless Mode you can battle with your friends or exchange profiles! By selecting Enter Waiting Room you can battle it out or exchange profiles with other players in the Waiting Room. By selecting Game Sharing Battle, you can play against other players who do not have a copy of the game.
Naruto’s House Naruto’s House is a very nifty option where you can view obtained items or edit your profile. Once you’ve defeated the game at least once, you begin to unlock different goodies, such as Images, BGM (background music), Movies, and Profiles. (Profiles under “View Profiles” can only be obtained by exchanging with other players in Wireless Mode.) Select Edit Your Profile, then press p to change your Profile character, Comment, and view your record with that character. Parameter Power-Up After every battle you are awarded with Power-Up Points, which can be used in Parameter Power-Up Mode to improve a character’s abilities. In Heroes Mode there are Achievement challenges that aren’t required for victory, but award the player with bonus Power-Up Points when completed. Each character has the following attributes:
- ATK (Attack): The force of your attacks
- DEF (Defense): Resistance to attacks
- SPD (Speed): The speed at which you move
- CHK (Chakra): How efficiently you consume chakra
- STA (Stamina): Duration of status effects
- NIN (Ninjutsu): The force of weapon attacks This is an absolute must-use mode. Parameter Power-Up Mode is the only way to increase your favorite characters’ abilities and customize their attributes to meet your needs. The best part is that once you level up an attribute using Power-Up Points, you’re not locked into that decision forever; if you don’t like it, you can always subtract those points and apply them to a different attribute. You can customize your character completely to your liking! Couple this mode with VS CPU Mode and you’ll have your favorite characters mastered in no time! Keep in mind, however, that the character you complete battles with determines which character gets the Power-Up Points. If you want to increase Sakura’s Speed, you have to complete battles as Sakura. Characters that aren’t used in battles get a small portion of the Power-Up Points earned. Options Here you can alter the game’s feel and sound by adjusting a few key elements:
- Difficulty: Easy, Normal, Hard, Insane
- Control Setting: Change the button commands to your liking
Ways of the Ninja Battle Basics No two fights are ever the same. Be it because of different fighters, varied techniques, or special rules, each match will unfold differently than the fight before it. While some fights may require that you defeat an opponent with increased Attack power, other battles might pit you against opponents with increased Defensive abilities. Every battle, however, does have some constants. Control combinations are the same for every character. All fights are one-on-one, all fights take place on multi-plane battlegrounds, every fight lasts only one round. The following pages will teach you everything you need to be that winner!Every fighter is different, right? Right! However, every fighter must know the basics to create his or her own fighting style. Therefore, every character can perform the same basic actions. Read on to get acquainted with the basic commands. However, just because all characters have the same basic attack combos, it doesn’t mean that they all do the same thing. For example, Naruto’s o, o, o, 8 + o combination attack is different than Sasuke’s attack. Once you’re sure you understand the basics, you can jump ahead to the character profile of your choice to see how your favorite character handles! Believe it! General Controls Attacks Action Command Attack Triple Comboo, o, oUppercut8 + oGuard Break2 + oAll characters attack using o. Press it once for a single attack, or unleash a flurry of attacks by repeatedly pressing o. Most combination attacks begin with o, o, o, so that will be the basis of nearly every character’s fighting style. Pressing up or down on the D-pad and pressing o makes your character either perform an uppercut-like attack or sweep the opponent to knock down his or her guard. Throw Attacks Action Command ThrowD-pad away from opponent and oAerial ThrowWhile in the air, D-pad away from opponent and oNot all attacks are striking attacks. If varied combos and multiple strikes are the meat of all fighting styles, then throws are the gravy. Sprinkle throws into your fighting repertoire to keep enemies guessing. If you use ground and aerial throws, enemies will need to be on guard constantly.1
Double Jump u then u while in air Dash u, u Rapid Retreat D-pad away from opponent and u, u Recovery Jump u, the instant you hit the ground after being thrown or after suffering from an extra hit attack. Jumping (u) during a battle is used for much more than just reaching a higher plane on the battleground. Tap u to jump, and double jump by tapping u then u again while in the air. To rapidly dash toward an opponent, tap u, u in quick succession. Similarly, to retreat from a dangerous situation press the D-pad away from your foe and rapidly tap u, u. Execute a recovery jump and leap back into action after being thrown or hit; your character will quickly recover and avoid hitting the ground! Action Command Move Left
Change to Back Plane 8 + u Change to Front Plane 2 + u Moving left and right are no-brainers, sure. But effectively changing planes in a battle can be the difference between winning and losing. Because every map has two different fighting planes—one in the foreground, one in the background—fighters can easily leap back and forth to avoid danger. By moving back and forth between planes, you can retreat, reach a valuable item, or gain the advantage by distancing yourself from your foe and launching a counterattack from afar. You can do much more than just run left and right. You can run on water (as long as you have chakra) and even run up walls (simply run at a wall and continue to press the D-pad toward it to climb). Make both of these abilities a part of your fighting arsenal. In levels where there are ponds, wait until your opponent’s chakra is depleted, then lure him out onto the water; he’ll sink and take damage! Wall running can also give you a height advantage; run up walls and rain projectiles from above or come crashing down on foes with crushing attacks! Movement1
Jutsu and Secret Techniques Action Command Jutsu 1 8, 8 + o Jutsu 2 2, 2 + o Secret Technique i, o All characters can perform jutsu and Secret Techniques…as long as they have sufficient chakra. Jutsu are low-level techniques that require only small chunks of chakra to execute. However, they do require that you successfully connect with the initial blow of the attack. If your opponent blocks the first blow of your jutsu, your assault won’t succeed. Secret Techniques are like jutsu, but your Chakra Gauge must be maxed out to attempt the attack. Once your Chakra Gauge is full (and blue in color), press i to focus your chakra, then o to activate the devastating attack. Extra Hits and Extra Hit Counters Action Command Extra Hit D-pad toward flying opponent and o Extra Hit Counters o, the instant an opponent’s Extra Hit connects Extra Hits and Extra Hit Counters are just another way to keep dishing out the damage during battle. As the battle rages on, follow up your attacks with Extra Hits to keep your opponents on the defensive even while they’re in mid-air (as a result of your initial attack, of course). When an enemy tries to land an Extra Hit on you, turn the tables on him or her by using an Extra Hit Counter! Guard and Substitution Jutsu Action Command Guard
Substitution Jutsu b the instant an opponent’s attack hits No matter how hard you fight, you will not win if you don’t block incoming attacks. The Guard button is as important, if not more so, than the Attack button. Because fights tend to be fast, frenetic, and furious, fighters who refuse to block will find themselves defeated in no time flat. Press b to guard before an opponent attacks to reduce damage taken or even nullify it. Advanced fighters will quickly learn to use the Substitution Jutsu. Like guard, it is a way to nullify an opponent’s attack. However, it requires better timing. To execute the Substitution Jutsu, press b the instant an opponent’s attack connects. You disappear and reappear behind your opponent! Projectile and Item Usage You begin every fight with your chosen character’s projectile of choice. Each character has an unlim- ited supply of a particular projectile weapon. It may not be the most powerful, but it’s better than nothing. However, by smashing objects in the battle arena you can acquire different projectile weapons and items that have special effects. Once you’ve acquired more than one item, press v to cycle through them (your items are displayed in the screen’s lower left) and then press p to use them. Action Command Use Item
Chakra Charge and Taunting Action Command Charge Chakra Taunt Long, drawn-out battles can take a toll on your Chakra Gauge. That’s when the chakra charge comes in handy. Simply press and hold 2 to slowly charge your Chakra Gauge. Unfortunately, chakra charging usually leaves you vulnerable to attack. Taunting doesn’t serve much of a purpose against a computer controlled opponent, but it’s a perfect way to get in a human opponent’s head. You’ll find chakra charging much more valuable than you think. However, you have to be smart about when and how often you use it. It is extremely vital that you use this ability in arenas where fighting on water is a must. In other arenas, look for safe places where you can hide while you charge your chakra. In the Chunin Exam Arena, for example, you can dash into the hole in the ground for a few seconds to sneak in some chakra charging before your opponent follows you. In most other arenas, you could repeatedly change planes, charging bits of chakra every time. The HUD (Heads-Up Display) Knowing how to manage a battle is just as important as knowing how to attack. By memorizing what is what on the HUD, you’re only a glance away from sizing up an opponent and responding accordingly. 1. 1P Health Gauge: Indicates 1P’s remaining health 2. 1P Chakra Gauge: Indicates 1P’s remaining chakra 3. 1P Character Name: Changes depending on currently controlled character 4. 1P Condition Indicator: Indicates 1P’s current condition, if any 5. 1P Item/Weapon: Currently selected Ninja Tool or item and the quantity in possession 6. 1P Team: Shows members of the 1P team; a red “X” indicates that team member has been defeated 7. Enemy Condition Indicator 12. Enemy Item/Weapon 13. Enemy Team: Shows members of the enemy team; a red “X” indicates that team member has been defeated
Weapons, Items, and Conditions Weapons and Items A single item can change the course of the fight dramatically. You could be low on health and chakra, but by grabbing a chakra-increasing item at just the right time, you could suddenly have enough chakra to execute a Secret Technique and turn the tides. Similarly, a Paper Bomb can finish the fight from afar. The tricky part is knowing which items to go for and when to use them. You can get two types of items during battle: items that are used as soon as you pick them up (health increases, chakra recovery, etc.) and items you can store for later use (Paper Bombs, Demon Wind Shuriken, etc.) There are several ways to get items during a fight: • Break objects (training dummies, signs, boxes, etc.) in the background• Knock an opponent back—when your foe hits the ground, roof, or wall, his or her chakra will appear as chakra spheres• Certain characters can create items with their jutsuConsumable ItemsThe following items are consumed as soon as they’re picked up. Characters The following characters are selectable from the start and ready for use. You can also unlock various other characters, each with unique special abilities, skills, and techniques.Demon Wind Bomb Team Kakashi Team Kakashi consists of Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke. It’s a team that’s built for balance. The team’s Will of Fire skill increases all team members’ attack and defense. Naruto Uzumaki An underachiever at the Ninja Academy, Naruto roams the Village Hidden in the Leaves, causing mischief and countless pranks. He also enjoys a good bowl of ramen. His lifelong dream is to be Hokage, the village chief, and become the greatest ninja of all time. Naruto also holds a secret that he himself does not know, the fact the Nine-Tailed Fox that wreaked havoc on the village is sealed inside his body! NARUTO’S SPECIAL SKILL: SEXY JUTSU Number of Uses: 2 Skill Type: Manual Skill Effect: Lowers an opponent’s attackI overdid it! 8, 8, o During combat, press 8, 8, o to attempt another Sexy Jutsu. This time, however, Naruto is unable to execute the technique and…exerts himself a bit too much, letting out a giant gas cloud that incapacitates his opponent. 2, 2, o This clever technique combines several different jutsu into one. Press 2, 2, o and Naruto tosses a giant Demon Wind Shuriken at his opponent. As the Demon Wind Shuriken hits the opponent, it suddenly reveals itself to be a second Naruto that also attacks. This technique successfully combines substitution and shadow clone jutsu into one!The Nine-Tails Barrage I, o (requires full Chakra Gauge) Naruto’s Secret Technique unleashes the power of the Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit on his opponent. Naruto leaps into the air, slashes at his enemy multiple times, and finishes the attack with an awesome uppercut. Sasuke Uchiha A descendent of the Uchiha Clan, Sasuke has both unique talent and sensibilities. Combined with his rugged good looks, this makes him very popular among the Ninja Academy’s female students. Quiet by nature, he never hesitates to speak his mind, which annoys Naruto, as he receives the brunt of Sasuke’s insults. SASUKE’S SPECIAL SKILL: CHIDORI Number of Uses: 1 Skill Type: Manual Skill Effect: Lowers an opponent’s health by 33 percent
Fire Style: Fire Ball Jutsu 8, 8, o Sasuke’s Fire Style: Fire Ball Jutsu is as hot as they come. Sasuke fires a giant fire ball at his opponent that instantly fries and knocks down the enemy. Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu 2, 2, o Like his Fire Ball Jutsu, the Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu uses fire balls to damage the enemy. In this jutsu, however, Sasuke kicks his opponent, leaps into the air, and rains down smaller fire balls on the unsuspecting foe. Chidori I, o (requires full Chakra Gauge) Like his Chidori Special Skill, this Secret Technique deals major damage. After successfully striking his opponent, Sasuke charges a ball of chakra in his fist and rushes at his enemy. He then punches the enemy using the chakra ball. Sakura Haruno Standing above all others with her incredible knowledge and skills, Sakura aims to become a Kunoichi, a female ninja. But as a young girl coming of age, she tends to focus less on ninjutsu and more on boys, especially the handsome Sasuke, who has no interest in her whatsoever. What Sakura fears to say often comes out of her “Inner Sakura”: the embodiment of her true feelings.
SAKURA’S SPECIAL SKILL: CHAKRA RECOVERY
Number of Uses: 3 Skill Type: Manual Skill Effect: Recovers a team member’s chakra by 33 percent This fairy tale is for real!!! 8, 8, o Sakura’s first jutsu is a great rushing attack. Channeling Inner Sakura’s pent-up rage, Sakura launches herself at her opponent and strikes with one continuous punch that hits multiple times. The Great Sakura 2, 2, o Sakura’s second jutsu also uses the power of her Inner Sakura. With this attack, Sakura focuses her chakra and creates a giant Inner Sakura whose hands flank and squash the opponent.
Maiden’s Attack Needle Human Boulder I, o (requires full Chakra Gauge) Like the Great Sakura attack, this technique calls on giant Inner Sakura to inflict major damage. After stunning the opponent, Inner Sakura towers over her foe and, with one hand, crushes the enemy under her palm. It’s humbling as well as devastating. Team Asuma Team Asuma consists of Choji, Ino, and Shikamaru. It’s a fast and defensive team. The team’s Ino-Shika-Cho skill increases all team members’ speed and defense. Choji Akimichi Part of Squad 10 with Ino and Shikamaru, Choji is constantly eating. He gets mad whenever people call him “fat,” even though he loves to eat everything, especially barbeque.
CHOJI’S SPECIAL SKILL: POTATO CHIPS
Number of Uses: 1 Skill Type: Manual Skill Effect: Recovers Choji’s health fully The Human Boulder 8, 8, o Choji’s Human Boulder technique requires his Expansion Jutsu. After expanding to abnormal size, Choji rolls himself into a large boulder and flattens his enemy. 2, 2, o Needle Human Boulder is almost exactly the same as the Human Boulder technique. During this attack, however, Choji transforms into a large boulder laden with sharp needles. Human Boulder Crush I, o (requires full Chakra Gauge) Choji’s Secret Technique is also a Human Boulder attack. Here, he rolls him- self up into a giant boulder and steamrolls over his opponent. Just when the enemy thought it was over, Choji makes a U-turn for another crushing attack. Ino Yamanaka Ino is teamed with Shikamaru and Choji. A rival to Sakura, she competes with her over anything and anyone, especially Sasuke. Though she’s Sakura’s rival, she does hold Sakura in high regard. Their friendship, and subsequent rivalry, goes back to their early childhood. When it comes to the battleground, though, her only friends are her teammates.
16-Hit Combo 8, 8, o There is nothing deceptive about this jutsu. Aptly named a 16-Hit Combo, it delivers that many hits. Once Ino connects with the initial strike, she unleashes an unblockable combination of 16 hits. The final blow sends her enemy flying into the air. Ninja Wolfsbane 2, 2, o (hold o to charge) When you hold o, Ino charges a few flowers with poisonous chakra. As soon as you release o, Ino hurls these flowers at her opponent. If the flowers hit, the opponent is temporarily poisoned. It is very similar to her Secret Technique, the Yamanaka Clan Hidden Jutsu. Yamanaka Clan Hidden Jutsu I, o (requires full Chakra Gauge) The Yamanaka Clan Hidden Jutsu is a dangerous jutsu disguised in the most benign of guises, a bouquet of flowers…or, rather, hundreds of bouquets of flowers. With this technique, Ino hurls hundreds of flowers at her opponent. After being crushed under the weight of thousands of petals, the enemy is left poisoned…though probably smelling wonderful as well. Shikamaru Nara A Genin in the same class as Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, Shikamaru is teamed up with Ino and Choji. Though lazy and lacking motivation, he scored over 200 on his IQ test. He’s not the strongest fighter in the Rookie 9, but he is definitely destined for military greatness. He’s the best strategist among his peers and many Jonin. SHIKAMARU’S SPECIAL SKILL:
SHADOW POSSESSION JUTSU
Number of Uses: 2 Skill Type: Manual Skill Effect: Lowers an opponent’s defense Shadow Possession: Paper Bomb 8, 8, o After capturing his hapless foe with his Shadow Possession Jutsu, Shikamaru then tosses a single Paper Bomb at his enemy. Now, Choji! 2, 2, o (attack reversal) Proving that a teammate never leaves a member of his team to fight alone, Shikamaru’s second jutsu requires the help of his teammate Choji. After executing the technique, Shikamaru takes seat and waits for his opponent to attack, when he or she does, Choji (in Human Boulder form) bounces in from behind Shikamaru and rolls over Shikamaru’s aggressor.
Shadow Possession: Giant Fire Ball Hinata’s Barrage of Gentle Fists is not quite gentle. In fact, it is a mini-version of her Secret Technique. She attacks her adversary with a barrage of palm strikes, each one causing quite a bit of damage. In the end, her rival is sent flying back several feet. Super Healing Medicine I, o (requires full Chakra Gauge) Shikamaru’s Shadow Possession: Giant Fire Ball Secret Technique is by far the funniest of any character’s Secret Techniques. Using his Shadow Possession Jutsu to take control of his enemy’s movements, he forces his foe to execute embarrassing ballerina-like moves before being blown up with several bombs. Team Kurenai Team Kurenai consists of Hinata, Shino, and Kiba. This is an agile team capable of dealing out lots of damage. The team’s Unbreakable Bonds skill increases all team members’ attacks and jumps. Hinata Hyuga An heir to the Hyuga Clan, a distinguished family in the Leaf Village, she has feelings for and supports Naruto. Unfortunately, because of her shyness, she cannot outwardly express her true feelings and is always fidgeting from a distance.
HINATA’S SPECIAL SKILL: MEDICINE
Number of Uses: 1 Skill Type: Manual Skill Effect: Recovers all team members’ health by 33 percent Barrage of Gentle Fists 8, 8, o 2, 2, o Hinata’s second jutsu is one of the most unpredictable of all jutsu. After activating the technique, Hinata focuses her chakra to produce several possible results: she can increase her attributes, regenerate health, or become invisible. Hundred Palms of Fury I, o (requires full Chakra Gauge) Hinata’s Secret Technique is only a glimpse into Hinata’s potential. After focusing her chakra, Hinata launches a series of 100 palm punches on her enemy. The force and speed are so great, at times it seems as if there are two Hinatas leading the attack! One successful Hundred Palms of Fury attack sends Hinata into a Byakugan state that allows her to disrupt the opponent’s chakra with every strike, even when blocked. Kiba and Akamaru Both wild in personality and appearance, Kiba travels with his ninja dog Akamaru. Their relationship and trust runs deep. His special jutsu are the Beast Man Clone, a joint jutsu carried out with Akamaru, and a secret beast-man taijutsu technique that is called the “Fang Over Fang.” Akamaru can smell an opponent’s chakra and determine the extent of that person’s strength.
Dynamic Marking 8, 8, o In Kiba’s Dynamic Marking technique, he throws Akamaru at his rival. Upon contact, Akamaru assaults the enemy with his own special brand of attack. Man Beast Clone 2, 2, o After popping a food pill, Kiba can create a Man Beast Clone of himself. The clones then simultaneously attack the aggressor, launching the foe into the air only to bring him or her crashing back down to earth with a double mule kick. Fang Over Fang I, o (requires full Chakra Gauge) Fang Over Fang is another of Kiba’s techniques that requires Akamaru. After he transforms Akamaru into a clone of Kiba, the two spin around, becoming vortex-like bullets that repeatedly attack the enemy. Shino As a descendent of the Aburame Clan, Shino was given special insects to symbiotically live with from the moment of his birth. These insects are his weapons. Calm and collected, he has a somewhat eerie atmosphere about him, and as a boy of few words, he has the disposition of a leader. 8, 8, o (repeatedly press o after contact) The insects that live inside Shino’s body are a great source of power, but they’re also an amazing weapon. Shino creates a whip-like weapon from the insects, then lashes it out at his adversary. When the whip hits the enemy, Shino paralyses his foe and drains away some of the opponent’s chakra until broken. Insect Pillar Jutsu 2, 2, o (hold o to charge) Shino’s Insect Pillar Jutsu creates a series of damaging pillars that rise up from underground. This attack is best used while enemies leap in from above to attack Shino, as it attacks enemies from below. KIBA’S SPECIAL SKILL: FANG OVER FANG Number of Uses: 1 Skill Type: Manual Skill Effect: Lowers an opponent’s health by 33 percent
Number of Uses: 2 Skill Type: Manual Skill Effect: Lowers an opponent’s speed Insect Paralysis Jutsu
Leaf Whirlwind Team Guy I, o (requires full Chakra Gauge) Forming two spear-like projectiles out of insects, Shino can hurl his little in- sect companions at his enemy. The critters swarm through the target, taking huge chunks of health with them. This is Shino’s most dangerous technique. Parasitic Insects: Spear Team Guy consists of Rock Lee, Neji, and Tenten. This is the most agile of all teams and one of the all-around fastest. The team’s Power of Youth skill increases all team members’ speed and jump. Rock Lee Rock Lee is in the same squad as Neji and Tenten, who are both one year ahead of Naruto and his squad. Though he lacks the ability to perform ninjutsu and genjutsu, his taijutsu is outstanding as a result of his constant training. From his hairstyle to the admiration he has for his sensei, everything about Lee is intense. Like Naruto, he is in love with Sakura. ROCK LEE’S SPECIAL SKILL: LEAF HURRICANE Number of Uses: 1 Skill Type: Manual Skill Effect: Lowers an opponent’s health by 33 percent 8, 8, o Rock Lee’s Leaf Whirlwind technique is more of a defensive technique than an offensive one. Though it does inflict damage, it is better suited to repelling enemies. In it, Lee spins around and creates a whirlwind that sends his foe flying across the arena. Leaf Hurricane 2, 2, o Though it sounds similar to his Leaf Whirlwind technique, this technique is actually a barrage of punch and kick attacks. Lee uses his intense speed to spin around, landing multiple kicks and punches on his defenseless rival. The final kick sends the enemy high into the air, just as a hurricane would. Hidden Lotus I, o (requires full Chakra Gauge) After opening the Eighth Inner Gate, Lee can tap into his latent super-human strength and speed. A devastating kick sends the enemy flying into the air. While his foe is flying upward, Lee leaps into the air, grabs his enemy, and delivers one final blow that sends him or her crashing back down to earth.
8 Trigrams 64 Palms Neji Hyuga Also a descendent of the Hyuga line, Neji is actually Hinata’s cousin. He’s a genius, but he feels constrained by being in a branch of the Hyuga lineage, rather than being part of the main family line. Neji uses the “Byakugan,” a bloodline trait handed down genetically within the Hyuga Clan. NEJI’S SPECIAL SKILL: 8 TRIGRAMS 64 PALMS Number of Uses: 1 Skill Type: Manual Skill Effect: Seals an opponent’s chakra Barrage of Gentle Fists 8, 8, o Much like Hinata’s Barrage of Gentle Fists, this attack ravages the enemy with a barrage of palm strikes. Rotation 2, 2, o This attack works a lot like Lee’s Leaf Whirlwind. Neji spins around and creates a protective chakra bubble around him that repels any enemy foolish enough to touch it. Though it deals moderate damage, it can be used as a defensive maneuver. I, o (requires full Chakra Gauge) Focusing the power of the Byakugan, Neji unleashes an extremely dangerous barrage of attacks on his enemy. He strikes so quickly and so powerfully, it seems as if multiple Nejis are doing damage. One successful 8 Trigrams 64 Palms attack sends Neji into a Byakugan state that allows him to disrupt the opponent’s chakra with every strike, even when blocked. Tenten Tenten is in the same squad as Rock Lee and Neji. She can efficiently use many Ninja Tools, and she constantly worries about Rock Lee, who always forges straight ahead regardless of his tendency to fail. Tenten is a compassionate teammate who cares for both of her squad mates.
TENTEN’S SPECIAL SKILL: SUMMON MEDICINE
Number of Uses: 3 Skill Type: Manual Skill Effect: Recovers a team member’s health by 33 percent 8, 8, o Tenten has the unique ability to summon a variety of different Ninja Tools. By executing Ninja Tool Summoning, Tenten makes several varied weapons and items magically appear ready on the floor. She can then pick them up and use them at will. Ninja Tool Summoning0
Sacred Dance Shuriken 2, 2, o (hold o to charge) This technique requires that Tenten charge her chakra to create a rainstorm of shuriken. After charging her energy, she leaps into the air and unleashes hundreds of shuriken on the enemy below. Because the shuriken fly out in a circular pattern, there is very little her rival can do to avoid the attack. Ninja Tool Meteor I, o (requires full Chakra Gauge) Tenten’s Secret Technique shows off her mastery of nearly every Ninja Tool. She begins by stabbing the ground and forcing multiple blades to slash at her enemy from below. She then grab her enemy with a chain and launches several different Ninja Tools, inflicting serious damage.
