The power indicator does not light up. What to do?

Check that the unit is on: for the parent unit, turn the volume/Off control (B-3) clockwise. For the baby unit, set the mode selector (A-6) to VOICE. Make sure the mains adapter is properly connected or that the batteries are new and correctly inserted. If the mains socket has a switch, turn it on.

The sounds are too shrill. How to remedy this?

Move the parent unit away from the baby unit. Reduce the volume by turning the volume control (B-3) counterclockwise.

No sound is emitted from the parent unit.

Increase the volume via the volume/Off control (B-3) by turning clockwise. Check that the units are within range (max 150 m) and that the channel selectors (A-7, B-6) are on the same position.

The power indicator flashes. What does it mean?

This indicates that the batteries are low or flat. Replace the batteries with four new AA batteries (alkaline recommended) or plug the unit into the mains via the adapter.

How to avoid interference with other devices?

Use the channel selector (A-7 on the baby unit and B-6 on the parent unit) to switch from A to B or vice versa. Make sure both units are on the same channel. Keep mobile or cordless phones away from the units.

How to use the Talk button?

Set the baby unit mode selector (A-6) to OFF. Turn on the parent unit and set the volume to a medium level. On the baby unit, press and hold the TALK button (A-3) and speak clearly into the microphone (A-4). Release the button to listen again.

How to replace the batteries of the baby unit?

Unscrew and unclip the battery compartment cover (A-8) using a screwdriver. Insert four AA 1.5V batteries respecting the polarities (+/-). Replace the cover and tighten the screw. Use Philips alkaline batteries for optimal battery life.

What is the maximum distance between the units?

The useful range is about 150 meters in open field. Walls, floors and ceilings can reduce this distance. For better reception, bring the units closer together.

How to clean the baby monitor?

Wipe the surfaces with a dry soft cloth. Never use liquids, abrasive products or solvents. Never immerse the device in water.

Is it safe to place the baby unit in the child's bed?

No, never place the baby unit in the child's bed or playpen. Install it at least 1 meter away from the child to avoid any risk of strangulation with the cable. Keep the adapter cable out of reach of the child.

You have just purchased a high-performance, cordless Baby Monitor that lets you listen to your child from wherever you are in and around the house. Please read this guide carefully before using the monitor, and keep it for future reference.

IMPORTANT!

This Baby Monitor is intended as an aid. It is not a substitute for responsible and proper adult supervision and should not be used as such.

Make sure the Baby unit and adapter cable are always out of reach of the baby, at least 1 metre away.

Never place the Baby unit inside the baby's bed or playpen!

The antennas on the Parent and Baby units are fixed; do not try to extend them.

Never cover the Baby unit (with a towel, blanket, etc.)

GETTING THE UNITS READY FOR USE

Baby unit

Connect the AC power adapter (A-9) to an AC mains socket, and then connect the cord to the DC power supply socket (A-5) of the Baby unit.

If you want to use batteries, remove the battery compartment cover (A–8) using a screwdriver. Insert four 1.5V, AA batteries (not included; we recommend non-chargeable Philips Alkaline batteries), noting the + and - configuration inside the battery compartment. Put the cover back in place and tighten screw.

The Baby unit operates cordlessly for up to 30 hours on fresh batteries. The red POWER light (A-1) flashes when battery power is low. If this happens install new batteries.

Note: To switch off the Baby unit completely set the mode switch (A-6) to OFF.

Parent unit

Connect the AC power adapter (B-9) to an AC mains socket, and then connect the cord to the DC power supply socket (B-8) of the power base (B-4). Place the Parent unit inside the power base. The red light (B-10) lights.

If you want to use batteries, remove the battery compartment cover (B–5). Insert four 1.5V, AA batteries (not included; we recommend non-chargeable Philips Alkaline batteries), noting the + and - configuration inside the battery compartment. Put the cover back in place.

The Parent unit operates cordlessly for up to 30 hours on fresh batteries. The red POWER light (B-1) flashes when battery power is low. If this happens install new batteries.

Monitoring baby's sounds

To use the units to listen to your baby:

• Position the Baby unit at least 1 metre away from the baby so that the microphone (A–4) can pick up baby's sounds.
• Set the channel switch to the same position on both units.
• Set the mode switch on the baby unit (A–6) to VOICE; the red POWER light (A–1) lights.
• Move away from the Baby unit with the Parent unit.
• Switch on the Parent unit using the Volume control/Off (B–3) and adjust the volume to the level you prefer; the red POWER light (B–1) lights.
• The green TRANSMIT light (A–2) lights when a sound is picked up by Baby unit.

Talk pushbutton

To use the Baby unit manually to talk to the Parent unit:

• Set the mode switch on the Baby unit (A–6) to OFF.
• Switch on the Parent unit using the Volume control/Off (B–3) and adjust it to about mid-range; the red POWER light (B–1) lights.
• On the Baby unit, press and hold the TALK pushbutton (A–3) and talk clearly into the microphone (A–4). Release the TALK pushbutton when you are finished.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Avoiding interference

Both units use anti-interference technology to reduce the chance of interference from other signals. If interference does occur or if sound reception is poor, try switching both units to the other channel to improve the sound quality.

Note: Always make sure that the channel selection switches (A-7, B-6) on both units are set to the same position.

Belt clip

If the Parent unit is operating on batteries, you can carry it around giving you freedom of movement while still monitoring your baby. Use the belt clip (B-7) to attach the unit to your clothing and so keep your hands free. The belt clip can be removed by unclipping the top and sliding it downwards.

PROBLEM SOLVING

Problem	Possible Cause	Solution
Power light does not light	Unit is not turned on.	Parent unit:- turn Volume control/Off switch clockwise (B-3). Baby unit:- set mode switch (A-6) to the VOICE position.
	AC adapter is not plugged in or Batteries are exhausted. AC adapter plugged into an outlet that is not working.	Plug in AC adapter or replace batteries. If the power socket has a switch, turn it on.
High pitched noise.	Units are too close together.	Move Parent unit away from Baby unit. Turn volume control on Parent unit counter-clockwise.
	Volume too high.
No sound.	Volume control on Parent unit is set too low. Units are out of range.	Turn volume control/Off switch clockwise (B-3). Move Parent unit closer to Baby unit.
Power light blinking.	Batteries are low or empty.	Replace batteries or connect to mains power.
Interference or poor reception.	Mobile or cordless phones too close to the baby monitor can cause interference.	Move the phones away from the units.
