Receiver SBC LI 805
Receiver
The Philips SBC LI 805 receiver can be used as receiver for the SBC RU 885 R(adio) F(requency) remote control as well as additional receiver for the SBC LI 800 Remote Control extender set. When used in conjunction with the RU 885 you can operate most IR driven equipment (e.g. Hi-Fi sets, VCRs, Sat-receivers, etc.) from anywhere in your house without actually seeing the equipment or aiming the remote control at it. For operation with the LI 800 extender set, see the User Guide of the set.
The RU 885 is able to send RF (radio frequency) signals that go through walls or, if your equipment is located in a cabinet, through the cabinet door. When receiving a signal from the RU 885, the receiver re-converts the RF-signal to a appropriate IR signal and sends it to the equipment you wish to operate.
In case you wish to control equipment in different rooms you can extend your equipment with more LI 805 receivers.
IR extension cord
The extension cord can be connected if the receiver is located in a cabinet or if you do not want to place the unit in front of your equipment. The cord has three IR lights that allow you to operate three devices simultaneously.
Adapter
For connecting the receiver to the mains supply.
To ensure you get the best performance from your receiver please read this manual carefully.
Important information
Read these instructions. All operating instructions and safety precautions should be read before using the receiver.
Safety precautions
- Check if the voltage indicated on the type plate of the adapter corresponds to the local mains voltage before connecting to the mains power supply.
-
The receiver is powered once it is connected to a 230-240 VAC mains supply. Disconnect the receiver from the mains supply when not in use.
-
Do not use the receiver in moist places or close to water.
- Do not expose the receiver to extreme heat or light.
- When cleaning the receiver, first disconnect from the mains supply. Rub it with a dry or slightly moist towel, never use excessive amounts of water on the unit.

– Sagem (some satellite receivers); - Pace (some satellite receivers).
Troubleshooting
If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below. If you are unable to remedy a problem by following these hints, contact the helpline (see page 2) or consult your dealer. Under no circumstances should you try to repair the receiver yourself as this will invalidate the guarantee.
The receiver should work with almost any equipment except for some brands mentioned in the previous paragraph. In case the receiver does not work, check the following points:
- Is the receiver connected to the mains supply?
- Does the remote control have fresh batteries?
- Is the distance between remote control and receiver less than 15 meters?
- Is the receiver in line of site and facing the equipment to operate? If this is not possible, connect the extension cord.
- When using the extension cord: check if IR lights are properly attached to the IR sensors of your equipment.
- Is the RF functionality of the RU 885 is enabled? See RU 885 User Guide.
- Make sure no massive metal parts are between the remote control and the receiver. Metal will reduce or even block the RF signal.
