Frequently Asked Questions - FG 95 STEBA

How to clean the barbecue plates?
Unplug the appliance and let it cool slightly. Clean the plates with a damp cloth and a little dish soap. For stubborn residues, pour a little oil, wait 5 minutes, then wipe. Never use abrasive products and never immerse the appliance in water.
What to do if smoke comes out during first use?
It is normal for a little smoke to appear during the first heating. This inconvenience disappears after a few minutes. Make sure to preheat the appliance empty with the lid closed for 10 minutes at maximum temperature before first use.
How to set the cooking temperature?
Turn the temperature selector rotary to the desired position. The green light goes out when the temperature is reached. You can monitor cooking and adjust if necessary. Recommended settings: 80°C to keep warm, 110°C for fish/vegetables, 140-150°C for delicate cooking, 180°C for searing poultry/game, 220°C for searing meats.
Can I immerse the appliance in water to clean it?
No, never immerse the appliance in water or under running water. Clean it only with a damp cloth. The grease tray can be washed separately after complete cooling.
What safety distance should I maintain around the barbecue?
Place the appliance on a stable and heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is at least 70 cm of free space around the appliance, especially from flammable materials (curtains, tablecloths, etc.).
Why does the green light turn on and off during cooking?
It's normal: the thermostat regulates the temperature. The green light goes out when the desired temperature is reached and comes back on when it drops. This maintains even cooking.
Can I use metal utensils on the plates?
No, preferably use wooden or plastic spatulas to avoid scratching the non-stick surface. Metal utensils could damage the coating.
How to retain heat during cooking?
To avoid heat loss, keep the lid closed as much as possible. Only open it to flip or remove food. This ensures faster and even cooking.
Should I grease the plates before first use?
Yes, lightly grease the grill plates with a little oil before first use. Then preheat the appliance to maximum temperature for 10 minutes with the lid closed, then wipe with a damp cloth.
What to do in case of breakdown or malfunction?
Unplug the appliance immediately and do not attempt to repair it yourself. Electrical appliances must be repaired by a qualified electrician. Contact a specialized service or the manufacturer for assistance.
