How do I use my Brentwood JB197 blender for the first time?

Can I blend hot liquids with the JB197 blender?

When using this or any other electrical appliance, always follow these basic safety precautions, especially when children are present.

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE

⚠ WARNING-To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, serious personal injury and property damage please note the following:

  • This product is not intended for use by children. Keep the product out of the reach of children and pets. Extra caution is necessary when using this appliance near children.
  • Always ensure the product is unplugged from the electrical outlet and allowed to cool before assembling, disassembling, relocating, or cleaning it.
  • Do not leave the product unattended while it is in use. Always unplug the product from the electrical outlet when not in use.
  • Do not immerse or expose the Base, Power Cord, or Plug of this product to water or other liquids.
  • Only use attachments recommended, provided, or sold by the product manufacturer.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, in a heated oven, or other heated surfaces.
  • Use extreme caution when moving an appliance containing water, or other liquids.
  • Use the product in a well-ventilated area. Keep at least 4-6 inches of space on all sides of the product to allow adequate air circulation.
  • Use appliance on a table or flat surface. Keep the product away from curtains, wall coverings, clothing, dishtowels, or other flammable materials.
  • Do not plug or unplug the product from the electrical outlet with a wet hand.
  • This product is intended solely for non-commercial, non-industrial, household use in cooking of food for human consumption.
  • Do not operate the product empty.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter where it may be tripped over or pulled. Do not allow cord to touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not operate the product if it has a damaged or cut Power Cord or plug, if wires are exposed, if it malfunctions, if it is dropped or damaged, or if the Motor Housing is dropped in or expose to water.
  • This appliance has no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to examine or repair this appliance yourself. Please review the Warranty Policy on Page 5.
  • Do not put any stress on the power cord where it connects to the product, as the power cord could fray and break.
  • This item does not have an “OFF” feature, it is controlled by Pulse. To shut off please disconnect from power supply.
  • To reduce the risk of injury, never place blade assembly on base of without securing it properly.
  • Do not blend hot liquids.
  • Do not use the Blending Cup if it has been damaged.
  • Avoid contact with moving parts. Blades are extremely sharp. Handle with care.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:

- Do not use for Ice Crushing only. Do not overfill or add to much ice or frozen fruits. This can cause the Blending Cup to Chip or Break.

- A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. An extension cord is not recommended for use with this product, but if or must be used:

— The marked electrical rating must be at least as great as that of the product.

- Arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be tripped over or pulled.

WARNING: This product is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other blade) to reduce the risk of electrical shock. This is a safety feature. The plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If you are unable to insert the plug into the electrical outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use the plug with an extension cord unless you can fully insert the plug into the extension cord. Do not alter plug. Do not attempt to defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.

Before First Use

IMPORTANT: Please check all packaging material carefully before discarding as there may be accessory parts contained within the packaging material. Make sure to handle the Blade attachment by its collar only.

WARNING: Blades are extremely sharp. Use extreme care when handling.

- Before your first use, wash the Travel Lid, Blend To Go-Blender Cup and Blade assembly using warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry before assembling the blending jar.

- Do not rush while washing the Blade Assembly. The blades are extremely sharp and can easily cause injury if not handled carefully.

Using Your Blend-To-Go Blender:

WARNING: Avoid contact with moving parts.

  1. Place the Motor Base on a clean, flat surface.
  2. Fill your clean Blend-To-Go Cup with your favorite ingredients, leaving at least a 1-inch rim and do not fill past the Max line. This will allow the Blade Assembly to be inserted without overfilling the Cup.
  3. Place the Blade Assembly and tighten by turning clockwise until it completely secured.
  4. Turn the bottle over and insert into the motor base until the slots are in place. (See image above) Turn the Cup clockwise to lock it in place.
  5. Connect Plug to the nearest electrical outlet. Pulse your beverage to the consistency of your preference.

CAUTION: Pulse no longer than 1 minute straight. Allow motor to rest 3 minutes before continuing. 1 minute can overheat the motor.

Attention: First use may cause a slight odor or small smoking upon heating, it is normal. This is a result of the heating element chemical reaction. It quickly goes away.

  1. When you have finished blending, disconnect the appliance from the outlet and turn the blending cup counterclockwise to remove from the base.

  2. Lift and position the cup right side up and carefully remove the Blade assembly and add the Travel Lid.

Cleaning Your Blend-To-Go Blender:

WARNING: Always unplug the product and allow it to cool before cleaning or storing it.

NOTICE: Never immerse the motor base, plug or cord in water or any other liquid.

  • It is recommended to rinse parts immediately after use to make cleaning easier.
  • Handle blades with extreme caution. You may use a small nylon bristle brush to remove food that has adhered to the Blade assembly.
  • Travel Lid, To-Go Cup and Blade assembly are dishwasher safe. Or can be washed using warm soapy water. Do not use abrasive cleaners or pads.
  • Rinse thoroughly and dry. Reassemble and store.
  • The motor base may be wiped with a damp cloth.
