If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk electric shock. The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.

  • Keep the power supply cord clear of moving parts. During operation hazard may occur when running the machine over the power supply cord.
  • The power supply cord must be regularly in- spected for signs of damage. If the power supply cord is damaged, it shall only be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or a similar quali- ed person in order to avoid a hazard.
  • Only replace the supply cord with the type specied in the instruction manual.
  • Do not operate the machine with a damaged supply cord or plug, or after the machine mal- functions or is damaged in any way. Contact an authorised Service Agent for repair or adjustment.
  • The plug of the power supply cord must be re- moved from the socket-outlet before commencing cleaning of the machine or undertaking mainte- nance operations.

  • Operators should be able to recognise unusual operation of the machine and report any prob- lems.
  • Only use the machine on rm level surfaces.
  • Wear suitable footwear to avoid slipping.
  • Wear suitable clothing to keep dry and warm.
  • Where possible implement job rotation and adequate rest periods to avoid continuous use of the same muscles.
  • Do not leave machine running unattended
  • Do not smoke when using the machine.
  • Do not put any objects into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked: keep free of dust, debris, hair, or anything that may reduce air ow. Operators must be fully trained in the use of the machine in accordance with these instructions, able to perform user mainte- nance and the correct selection of acces- sories.7
  • Ensure the machine is switched off before add- ing or changing accessories. Transporting the machine CAUTION – Incorrect lifting techniques may result in personal injury, where applicable do not lift large and heavy machines without assistance. We advise that the manual handling regulations are followed. Please refer to the technical table for details on weight of machine. When transporting the machine ensure that all components, tanks and removable parts are securely fastened, and that the supply cord and plug are not trailing. Detach hose and wand from machine where applicable. Take extreme care when moving the machine up or down steps or stairs. Preparing for use Electrical connection Before connecting the machine to the power sup- ply, check that your supply voltage corresponds with that marked on the rating label. The power supply cord plus any extension leads should not exceed 100 ft. (30 m) in total, other- wise you may experience problems starting up the machine. The cross-section of any extension cable wiring must be at least AWG 13 (2,5 mm²). CAUTION - This machine is for indoor dry use only and should not be used or stored outdoors or in wet conditions. CAUTION - If it is suspected that there is hazardous dust or ammable materials stop cleaning the area immediately and consult your superior. WARNING Only use accessories and spare parts provided with the machine or those approved by the manufacturer. The use of other accessories may impair the safety of the machine. WARNING WARNING - Before undertaking assembly or changing of accessories/tools switch off machine and unplug from the electricity supply. Should an extension cord be used, ensure cord rating is adequate for the equipment. Do not use extension cord in coiled condition as this could result in overheating of the cord. IMPORTANT - If the supply cord is dam- aged, it must only be replaced by a special cord available from the manufacturer or an authorised service agent. Symbols & Markings How to assemble the vacuum
  • Insert the hose into the socket on the front of the vacuum cleaner (Fig 1).
  • Twist in a clockwise direction until locked into position.
  • Fit the handle to the wand connection (Fig 2). Fig 28

  • The on off switch is positioned at the rear of the machine (Fig 4). Fig 4
  • When operating the unit in a noise sensitive area, the unit may be adjusted with the knob on the right rear of the unit (Fig 4). This will also decrease the suction power. Operation Starting the machine
  • Ensure cable is fully extended before use.
  • Ensure a dust bag is tted before use.
  • Press the on/off button to turn the vacuum cleaner on.
  • Suction can be adjusted by sliding the airow adjuster located on the hose handle (Fig 5). Fig 5
  • For maximum suction keep the adjuster closed.
  • After you nish cleaning, turn the vacuum clean- er off by pressing the ON/OFF button.
  • Only then unplug from the power socket. Using the oor tool
  • The oor tool can be used for cleaning carpets and hard oors. The oor heads pedal should be down when cleaning hard oors (Fig 6) and in the up position when cleaning carpets (Fig 7). Fig 6 Fig 7 Storage
  • Always unplug the machine after use.
  • After use check the bag. If full, replace the bag.
  • Wind the supply cord ensuring that the plug is not trailing on the oor.
  • Store the machine in a dry indoor area only. Maintenance WARNING - Before undertaking mainte- nance operations or adjustments switch off machine and unplug from the electricity supply. The machine requires minimum maintenance apart from the following checks by the operator.
  • Supply cord - Regularly inspect sheath, plug and cord anchorage for damage or loose connec- tion.
  • Body of the vacuum – Clean with a damp cloth.
  • Vacuum lter – Check the vacuum lters, clean and replace as appropriate.
  • Hose, wand and vacuum accessories – Check and remove any debris or lint build-up from the head.9 IMPORTANT – All other servicing and repairs should only be performed by a Tornado Industries engineer or Authorised Service Agent. IMPORTANT – Should the machine fail to oper- ate please refer to the fault diagnosis section in the back of the instruction manual. If the problem / remedy are not listed please contact Tornado Industries Customer Service Department. Replacing the dust bag
  • Lift the top latches on the top of the machine to release and open the top cover.
  • Take out the dust bag and dispose of the full bag.
  • Position new dust bag.
  • Replace the top cover by xing in position and securing the latches.
  • The vacuum is now ready for operation. Maintaining and replacing the lter
  • After removing the top of the unit, remove the lter (Fig 8). Install new lter. Fig 8
  • It is very important to keep the lters clean to receive maximum performance from the vacuum. Not cleaning and replacing your lters regularly can reduce the suction power and cause over- heating. After Sales Service Tornado machines are high quality machines that have been tested for safety by authorised techni- cians. It is always apparent that after longer work- ing periods, electrical and mechanical compo- nents will show signs of wear and tear or ageing. Under extreme or specialised conditions and/or insufcient maintenance, shorter maintenance in- tervals are necessary. Use only original Tornado spare parts. Use of other spare parts will invali- date all warranty and liability claims. Should you require after sales service please contact the supplier from whom you purchased the machine, who will arrange service. Repairs and servicing of Tornado products should only be performed by trained staff. Improper repairs can cause considerable dangers to the user. Do not dispose of this device with unsorted waste. Improper disposal may be harmful to the environment and human health. Please refer to your local waste authority for in- formation on return and collection systems in your area.
