USER MANUAL Fly Away 40 IPX4 Eurom

GB - electric insect-killer - Instruction booklet

The insect-killer is designed to attract flying insects, such as flies, moths, mosquitoes, etc. using ultraviolet light. As they fly towards light, they fly into an electrified metal screen that electrocutes them.

The device

The Fly Away 30/40 IPX4 insect-killer is highly efficient and safe. The electrified screen is made from stainless steel. This material has been chosen so that there is only minimal crackling on electrocution and the insects neither combust nor is the material damaged. The special UV lamps are totally harmless to humans and pets. An external safety screen protects users from coming into unintentional contact with the electrified screen.

The insect-killer uses no chemicals or sprays, does not emit smoke or odours, produces no waste and is environmentally friendly. The Fly Away 30/40 IPX4 insect-killer is designed to be used indoors, in the home, in work areas, retail outlets, etc. The fact that the device is splash-proof (IPX4) means that it is also suitable for damp rooms, e.g. stables.

Installation

When placing and installing the insect-killer, it is important to take the location of the device in the room/space into account.

  1. Hang the insect-killer centrally in the area; that way, the ultraviolet light can be dispersed better and attract insects from the entire area.
  2. Hang the insect-killer or a wall or in a corner if the room/area is not very large.
  3. The best height for the insect-killer is 1.5 to 2 metres off the ground, which is the most common flying height for insects.
  4. The insect-killer can be suspended from the chain or placed on a surface such as a table or cabinet. Make sure it is on a good stable base.
  5. Install your insect-killer in a relatively dark place, near an electricity socket: not in direct sunlight (windows, doors), because bright sunlight weakens the insect-killer's radiation power. Artificial light does not weaken the radiation, but makes it work less well.

Use and Maintenance

Using for the first time

Make sure that the power socket you intend using is earthed and the correct voltage (220-230V-50Hz). Start the insect-killer working by plugging the device in. The insect-killer is operating.

The insect-killer can be kept switched on (24 hours a day) all year round.

Replacing lamps

To replace a worn out UV tube you must remove the plug from the socket and remove the collection tray by pulling it out of the side of the device. Unscrew the 2x2 cap nuts next to the suspension eyes. Remove the suspension eyes and top cover. Now unscrew the 2x2 screws on the front and back of the grill and lift the entire electrical block with the lights out of grill. Unscrew the ring around the right and left of the light fitting. Slide the rubber rings and the plastic rings

away. You can now turn the strip light 90^ , remove it from the fitting and replace it. Install the lights, rings, grill and tray in their original positions before using the device again.

Cleaning

Regularly empty the collection tray by pulling it out of the side of the device, (see diagram 2 on page 2).

Too much dust will adversely affect the effectiveness of the light and too much dirt will affect the way insects are destroyed. So clean the device regularly. To do that, pull the plug out of the power socket and remove the collect tray. When you now place the device on a work surface, you can remove dust and dirt, for example with a vacuum cleaner, duster or soft brush. Do not use any moisture or corrosive cleaning agents in the insect-killer.

You can dust off the outer side of the device using a soft cloth.

Safety notices

  • Close supervision is necessary when the product is used near children or incapacitated persons.
