Frequently Asked Questions - RPA EBODE

How to install the RPA plug receiver?

Plug the device or lamp into the receiver, then plug the receiver into a mains socket. The device switch must remain in the on position.

How to initialize a channel on the plug receiver?

With a paperclip, briefly press into the hole between the two LEDs. The green LED flashes. Press the button on your controller (remote control, wireless wall switch, timer) to associate the channel. The LED turns off.

How many channels can the receiver memorize?

The receiver can memorize up to 8 channels in X10 mode.

How to erase all memorized channels (reset)?

Hold a paperclip pressed into the hole between the LEDs for 3 to 4 seconds until the green LED lights up. Release, both LEDs flash then turn off: all channels are erased.

What to do if the remote control does not work?

Check the remote control batteries. Make sure the appropriate converter (RPT, RMA, etc.) is plugged into the mains. Perform a reset of the receiver and reinitialize the channel.

Can I use the receiver on a power strip?

Yes, provided the power strip is not of surge protection or lightning protection type.

What types of controllers are compatible?

Wireless X10 controllers (TPC, EM, IMRF) and those with radio converter (RPT, RMA, etc.) or infrared (IR7243) are compatible.

What does the red LED indicator mean?

The red light turns on temporarily when the receiver receives or transmits a command from a controller.

The receiver no longer responds to powerline commands, what to do?

Perform a reset of the receiver (see procedure) then reinitialize the chosen channel.

Can I repair the receiver myself?

No, do not open it. There are no user-serviceable parts. Have any repairs carried out by a professional.

For carefree and safe use of this product, please read this manual and safety information carefully and follow the instructions. Technical manipulation of the product or any changes to the product are forbidden, due to security and approval issues.

Please take care to set up the device correctly - consult your user guide. WARNING: Do Not Open! Risk of Electrical Shock. Voltages in this equipment are hazardous to life. No user-serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

Important: the product must be used according the instructions in this manual and is not suitable for other purposes.

Please avoid the following: strong mechanical wear and tear, high temperature, strong vibrations, and high humidity.

Please also respect the additional security notes in the various user guide chapters. To ensure correct set up please read the manual and security notes carefully.

1. Plug the appliance or lamp into the module.

NOTE: Make sure the appliance or light is powered on.

X10 address

The X10 address consists of a House Code and a Unit Code. In order for this module to respond to a command sent via the Power line, the module needs to be initialized. It is possible to configure multiple addresses for this module.

General information:

• The RPA appliance module can be configured to respond to up to 8 X10 addresses.
• The led will blink Red when ON/OFF commands are received.

Programming the RPA:

If you want to control the RPA via a RF remote like e.g. the ebode TPC, EM or IMRF, you need to install a RF transceiver (e.g. RPT, CM15, TM13 or SC28 security console).

1. Use a small sharp object, e.g. a paper clip, to shortly press the setup button. This button is situated in the small opening between the two LEDs. When the button is pressed, the green led will blink quickly, waiting for a command.
2. Send the 'power on' command for the desired address.
3. The led will stop blinking.
4. The appliance module address is now stored.
5. If you wish to configure additional addresses repeat this procedure form from step 1.

Reset appliance module addresses

1. Use a small sharp object, e.g. a paper clip, to press and hold the setup button until the green led turns on. (about 3 or 4 seconds)
2. Release the button, the led will blink red and green and then turn off.
3. When the red and green LEDs are off, the module is reset.

Operating the RPA module

Gently press the upper key (ON) on i.e. EM, TPC, to turn on the appliance/light.

Gently press the lower key (OFF) on i.e. EM, TPC, to turn of the appliance/light.

Can I plug appliance receiver into a power strip?

This is no problem with a simple power strip however you can not use the module with a surge protected power strip.

I'm using a X10 compatible wireless remote, e.g. TPC, IMRF, EM, SS13, KR22, SH600 or HR10, but the RPA is not responding?

• Check and/or change remote control battery.
• Check if your transceiver is correctly connected.
• Reset the RPA (see paragraph 3) then reprogram the address.

The RPA does not respond to command sent via the power line?

Reset the RPA (see paragraph 3) then initialize the address.
