Frequently Asked Questions - VarioTec N6000 Vivaria

What to do if the pump does not start?
First check that the pump is properly submerged (minimum depth 10 cm) and that the power cord is plugged into a grounded outlet. If the thermal protection has tripped, unplug the pump, let it cool for at least one minute, then plug it back in. Make sure the filter is not clogged.
How to clean the VarioTec N6000 pump?
Always unplug the pump before any maintenance. Remove the filter cap by turning the screw, then take out the rotor. Clean all parts with clean water and check the condition of the O-ring. Reassemble the rotor and close the cage.
Why does the pump stop by itself?
This is due to the built-in thermal protector that cuts off power in case of overload. Possible causes: lack of water, clogged filter, limescale on the rotor, or blocked hoses. Fix the issue then unplug and plug the pump back in after 1 minute.
Can I use the pump out of water?
Yes, for out-of-water operation, place the pump below the water level and connect a suction hose with a minimum diameter of 40 mm and a maximum length of 1.5 m. Fill the hose and pump with water before starting.
What is the maximum allowed water temperature?
The pump can pump water up to 35 °C. Beyond that, risk of damage.
How to protect the pump in winter?
Remove the pump from the water before frost. Clean it as described and store it in a dry and frost-free place.
What does the 24-month warranty cover?
The warranty covers manufacturing and material defects. Excluded: the rotor (normal wear), dry running, limescale deposits, frost, non-professional repairs, and modification of the power cord.
Can I use the pump in a swimming pool?
No, use in a swimming pool is not allowed. The pump is designed for aquariums, ponds, waterfalls, and water features.
How to prevent animals (fish) from being sucked in?
Use a grille or a pre-filter at the end of the suction hose to prevent fish or other animals from entering the pump.
What to do if the power cord is damaged?
The cord is permanently sealed in the motor and cannot be replaced. If the cord or plug is damaged, the pump must no longer be used and must be disposed of according to EU directives.
