Initial Use and Operation (see figures 1-4)

Preparing the hair

  • Wash your hair and dry it well.

Selectable temperature levels: 190^,200^,210^

Risk of burning your hair if selected temperature is too high!

Depending on your hair type the wrongly selected temperature or improper use of the appliance puts your hair at risk of drying out or in the worst case burning. Listed below are the recommended temperature levels that should always be observed:

Always select the lowest temperature level (190^) when using your appliance for the first time such as for blonde, bleached or coloured hair.
- Select a medium (200^) temperature level for normal and slightly wavy hair.
- Select a high (210^) temperature level for very thick, curly

and hard to straighten hair.

Note!

Due to the high temperatures the sulfur and hydrogen bonds contained in the hair will be opened, whereby the formability of the hair is enhanced.

Straightening hair (see figures 5-7)

Hold the appliance at the handle h, always at a safe distance from skin and eyes. Use a mirror.

  • Part your hair into approx. 2-3 cm, not too thick, strands.
  • Begin at the roots and lay the prepared strands one at a time between the heating plates e (see fig. 5).
  • Close the appliance and draw the hair straightener slowly from the roots through to the tips of your hair (see fig. 6 and 7). Repeat until your hair is as straight as you desire.
After finishing styling, let your hair cool down and then comb it through.

Curling (see figures 8-11)

  • Separate your hair into approx. 2 cm strands.
  • Open the appliance and position it so that the prepared strand lies at the back between the V-shaped heating plates e which lying together (see fig. 8). Keep a distance of at

least one appliance width to the roots.

  • Close the appliance (see fig. 9) and turn it so that the strand lies on the curl forming surface d (see fig. 10).
  • Now tilt the appliance downwards a little by lowering the handle towards the shoulder and then draw the appliance in this position slowly from the roots to the tips of your hair (see fig. 11).

The heated strand will be formed into a curl due to the smooth forming surface d.

A larger angle forms a more twisted curl. Repeat until your hair is as curly as you desire.

Note!

Best results are achieved when the external curl forming surface d is still cold. With increasing use this warms up with the heat given off from the hair.

Crimping (see figures 12-15)

  • Part your hair into approx. 4-6 cm, not too thick, strands.
  • Begin at the roots and lay the prepared strands one at a time between the heating plates e (see fig. 12).
  • Close the appliance and allow the heat to take effect for approx. 4-5 seconds (see fig. 13).
  • Release the strand, now turn the appliance 180^ and

position it approx. one appliance width further on the same strand (see fig. 14).

  • Repeat the 4-5 second heat process until you have reached the end of the strand (see fig. 15).
After finishing styling, let your hair cool down and then comb it through. Your hair is crimped.

Switching off the appliance

Switch off the appliance using the ON/OFF switch b.

CAUTION!

The appliance can be damaged by overheating! Make sure that the appliance is open during the cooling phase.

Automatic deactivation function (see fig. 16-17)

The appliance is efficient in its use of energy and switches automatically after 20 minutes after the last use of the ON/OFF switch b itself into the stand-by mode.

This is indicated by flashing of the temperature control light (red) (see fig. 16). You may use the appliance again by turning the appliance 1× off and on via the ON/OFF switch b see fig. 17).

Note!

When the appliance is in stand-by mode, it can only be operated again via the ON/OFF switch b. Disconnecting from the mains and reconnecting does not switch the appliance back on - the appliance remains in stand-by mode.

> Ion-generator

Your appliance is equipped with an ion generator which is automatically activated when the appliance is switched on. This function will give your hair enhanced shine while styling. The ion generator also prevents the build-up of static charge on your hair. A soft hiss or crackle will be heard.
