Register your Rumble online at start.fender.com. CONTROL PANEL A. INPUT: Plug your passive or active bass in here. If your bass is too hot and causes unwanted distortion, try turning down the GAIN control. B. GAIN: Adjusts the incoming signal level from your bass, optimizing the preamp signal level for a variety of basses. The GAIN control will also affect the level of distortion/compression if VINTAGE and/ or OVERDRIVE are selected. C. BRIGHT: Adds presence and shimmer in the upper frequencies. CONTOUR: Mid-frequency cut, combined with low-and- high- frequency boosts that oer a fat pleasing tone, useful for slap style playing, low-volume practice, or in combination with OVERDRIVE. VINTAGE: Creates a dark tone rich with harmonics and some natu- ral compression. D. DRIVE: When the OVERDRIVE circuit is enabled, DRIVE controls the amount of harmonically rich preamp distortion. E. OVERDRIVE ON: Press this button to enable the OVERDRIVE circuit and corresponding controls. F. LEVEL: When the OVERDRIVE circuit is enabled, LEVEL controls the volume of the OVERDRIVE. Use this to balance volume levels between your clean and overdrive tones. G. FOUR-BAND EQUALIZATION: Used to adjust overall tone and to compensate for room acoustics. Remember, what sounds harsh in one room may have just the right edge in another room. H. MASTER: The MASTER controls the overall volume of the amp. Rumble amps are equipped with Fender's Delta-Comp™ limiter. Setting the MASTER higher or playing more aggressively will result in more compression and sustain.
I. POWER INDICATOR: Illuminates when power is switched on to the
unit. REAR PANEL J. POWER SWITCH: Press to the "ON" position to turn the unit on. Press to the "OFF" position to turn the unit o.
Connect the included power cord to a grounded A/C electrical outlet in accordance with the voltage and frequency ratings specied on the rear panel of your amplier.
PARALLEL SPEAKER OUTPUTS (HEAD ONLY) : Connect speaker cabinets here. The power rating of the external cabinets should meet or exceed the rating listed on the amplier. The MINIMUM impedance of all connected speaker cabinets is 4Ω. The following list shows some acceptable parallel speaker cabinet combinations:

Both the tip (+) and sleeve (–) have voltage present, so never ground either the tip (+) or sleeve (–) of the speaker cable. Always make connections with the power turned o, and use care when making connections with cables that have non- insulated (bare metal) type plugs. Using speaker cables with insulated bodies is preferred, but not required. INPUT POWER V Hz______W ______WPARALLELSPEAKEROUTPUTS 4Ω min. TOTAL EQUALIZATION OVERDRIVECONTOURVINTAGEBRIGHT
ONLY): Connect an 8Ω (minimum impedance) speaker cabinet here. The power rating of the external cabinet should meet or exceed the rating listed on the amplier. N. HORN SWITCH (500/200 COMBO ONLY): Press to the "ON" position to turn the horn on. Press to the "OFF" position to turn the horn o. The horn will add high- frequency crispness and sparkle for more modern tones that are well suited for slap-style funk. O. EFFECTS LOOP (500, 200 AND 100 ONLY): Connect the SEND to the input of outboard eects devices (delay, chorus, etc.) and the output of the eects devices to the RETURN. Placing eects in the EFFECTS LOOP (instead of between your bass and the INPUT) will reduce the amount of noise and tone degradation caused by the e ects pedals. P. AUX IN: Plug your CD player or mp3 player in here. The amp controls do not aect this input. Adjust the volume or tone of the aux signal at its source. Q. HEADPHONES: Plug your stereo headphones (32 ohms minimum impedance) in here. Speaker output is automati- cally disabled. R. LINE OUT: Balanced output to connect to external devices such as PA systems and recording consoles. The level and tone of the LINE OUT signal are aected by all preamp controls, including GAIN. Pressing the GND LIFT button IN may eliminate hum or buzz resulting from connection to improperly grounded equipment. S. FOOTSWITCH: Allows for remote switching of OVER- DRIVE section. See the "Optional Footswitch" section below for details. ONOFFHORNSEND RETURN EFFECTS AUX INPHONES LINE OUT GROUND LIFT FTSW Connect a footswitch to the amplier to remotely enable OVERDRIVE. The three Fender footswitches at right are compatible with Rumble (although any generic single-button latching-type footswitch will work). Fender recommends the LED FOOTSWITCH (PN 0994052000) for best performance. Contact your local Fender dealer to purchase the Fender footswitch of your choice. NOTE: When a footswitch is connected, the control panel OVERDRIVE button will still work, but its position may become reversed (i.e., in=o), depending on footswitch status. The OVERDRIVE indicator LED on the control panel will always be correct, but the LED in the footswitch may be incorrect. When using a footswitch with an LED, keep the control panel OVERDRIVE switch in the out position to have the correct status displayed on the footswitch LED. ECONOMY FOOTSWITCH (PN 0994049000): Basic black one-button on/o footswitch. VINTAGE FOOTSWITCH (PN 0994054000): Chrome one-button on/o footswitch. LED FOOTSWITCH (PN 0994052000): Contemporary one-button on/o footswitch with LED indicator. NOTE: You must switch the Overdrive eect o before connecting this footswitch to enable the footswitch LED to operate properly. OPTIONAL FOOTSWITCHES REAR PANEL (CONT'D.) EXT. SPKR
Ω min. ____W Rumble amp heads are lightweight and compact, which makes trans- port and setup easy. When placed atop a non-matching speaker enclo- sure, however, they become subject to the extreme vibrations they're capable of producing at high volume. Matching Rumble speaker enclo- sures feature a magnetic locking system to properly secure Rumble amp heads in place during normal operation. Simply place the Rumble amp head into the foot cups atop the Rumble speaker enclosure to lock it in place. NOTE: The magnetic locking system should not be used to secure a Rumble amp head during transport; first detaching the Rumble amp head from the Rumble speaker enclosure is recommended to avoid potential damage. Please use caution when using a Rumble amp head atop any other non-matching speaker enclosure. RUMBLE HEAD AMPLIFIERS WITH RUMBLE SPEAKER ENCLOSURES Rumble 500/200 bass amplifiers are equipped with variable speed fan cooling and thermal shutdown protection. The fan will start at a low speed and increase as you play harder. Leave at least 6 inches of clearance between the vents on your amplifier and other objects. If the amplifier vents are blocked, or it is used in an extremely hot envi- ronment, it may overheat and shut down causing a temporary mute of the speaker while the power LED indicator remains on. Under the most extreme operating conditions it may be possible for the thermal shut- down to disrupt the amplifier power supply and the speaker will mute and the power LED indicator will turn off. If any shutdown (speaker muting) occurs, leave the power switch ON (to keep the fan running), and allow the amplifier several minutes to cool down. The amplifier will automatically resume operation when it has returned to a safe operat- ing temperature.
