USER MANUAL 2879 ARIETE

The appliance is suitable only for heating and frothing milk. Do not heat any other type of liquid or solid food. No other use of the machine is contemplated by the manufacturer, which is exempt from any liability for all types of damages caused by improper use of the machine. Improper use also results in any form of warranty being forfeited.

WARNING ON BURNS

• Hot milk and steam can cause burns. Use the appliance only when the lid is placed in a stable way on the unit. Do not grip the appliance when it is in use. In particular, pay attention to the release of steam when opening the lid.
• Place the appliance on a flat, stable surface that is easily accessible and easy to clean. Make sure that the appliance does not slip or tip over, and that the power cord does not get caught under the supporting surface.
• Before cleaning allow the appliance to cool.

• This appliance is designed solely for household and similar uses such as:
• in cooking areas used by personnel of shops, offices and other professional environments;
  -on farms;
• guests of hotels, motels and other residential environments;

• We suggest you keep the original box and packaging, as our free-of-charge service does not cover any damage resulting from inadequate packaging of the product when this is sent back to an Authorised Service Centre.
• Using accessories not recommended or not supplied by the manufacturer of the appliance may entail risks of fire, electric shock or injuries to people.

• Do not leave the packaging near children because it is potentially dangerous.
• This appliance can be used by persons who have reduced physical sensory or

mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, only if they are monitored by a responsible person or if they have received and understood instructions regarding the appliance safe use and if they have understood the dangers which may arise during the appliance use.

• In the event that this appliance is to be disposed of, it is suggested that the power chord is cut off. It is also recommended that all potentially dangerous components are rendered harmless to prevent children hurting themselves when playing with the apparatus.
• Unplug from outlet when not in use and before any maintenance or cleaning.
• Do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.
• Never let the live parts come into contact with water: risk of short circuit.
• The appliance must not be used if it has been dropped, if there are visible signs of damage, in the event of faults or suspected faults after falling. Immediately unplug it from the socket-outlet. Never operate the appliance if defective. To prevent any accident, all repairs, including the replacement of the power cord, must be carried out by an Authorised Service Centre or, in any case, by qualified personnel. Otherwise, the warranty may be revoked.
• Do not lift the appliance by gripping its body or the power supply base but hold it by the handle.
• Use the power supply base supplied only: keep the base clean and dry.
• Never put the appliance on or near gas stoves or electric hotplates.
• Observe the levels indicated (MAX) inside the container. The container bottom support must always be covered by milk. In case of insufficient amount of milk, the appliance may overheat. If the appliance is filled beyond the levels indicated, it is possible that milk may leak during its heating.
• Do not remove the lid while milk is boiling.
• Do not operate the appliance dry, without milk.
• Do not fill the appliance with hot or boiling milk.
• Never fill the appliance with milk when it is connected to the mains supply.
• Remove the container from the power supply base only when the heating process is completed and the appliance is turned off.
• The power supply cable must not touch the hot parts of the appliance.
• The appliance must not be power supplied by external timers or separate remote-controlled systems.
• Do not touch the hot surfaces. Use pot holders or tea towels.
• Never use the appliance outdoors.
• Do not expose the appliance to atmospheric agents (rain, sun ...).
• Before cleaning the appliance always unplug it and allow it cool down. Clean only with a non-abrasive cloth that has been slightly dampened with water, adding a few drops of mild, non-aggressive detergent (never use solvents that damage plastic).

• For proper disposal of the product pursuant to the European Directive 2009/96/EC please read the relevant leaflet enclosed with the product.

• Use only original accessories.

PRELIMINARY PHASES FOR USE

Using the appliance for the first time

Before connecting the appliance to the power supply, make sure that the voltage indicated on the plate on the bottom of the machine corresponds to the local mains voltage. Place the appliance on a horizontal and stable surface.

Warning!

Do not place the appliance or power cord close to or on top of hot electric or gas cookers, or close to a microwave oven.

Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of the table or of the counter. Prevent children from grabbing the power cord, in this way tipping over the appliance.

Position the appliance so that children cannot reach the hot parts.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Warning!

The milk filling and emptying operations must be carried with the container separate from the power supply base.

Do not use the appliance without milk.

During the first heating a slight odour may develop: don't worry, it's perfectly normal because some parts were lightly lubricated, the phenomenon will disappear after a short time.

How to froth milk for cappuccino (MAX level

To obtain a great amount of froth, with hot milk or with cold milk:

• Remove the lid.
• Insert the whisk (2) in the support (5) on the bottom of the container.
• Fill with milk to the level indicated by MAX
• Place the lid on the container stably.
• Place the container on the power supply base.
• Plug into the mains socket.

• Switch on the appliance: move the switch-on slider to the right in position "1". Release the slider. The slider will return back to position "0". The light (6) turns on. After 90 seconds, the milk is frothed and the appliance turns off automatically. To stop the operation at any time, move the slider back to position "1" and release it.

• Unplug it from the socket-outlet.

• Remove the container from the power supply base.

How to heat milk (MAX level

• Remove the lid.
• Remove the whisk (2) from the support (5) on the bottom of the container.
• Fill with milk to the level indicated by MAX -
• Place the lid on the container stably.
• Place the container on the power supply base.
• Plug into the mains socket.
• Switch on the appliance: move the switch-on slider to the right in position "1". Release the slider. The slider will return back to position "0". The light (6) turns on. After 2 minutes, the milk is hot and the appliance turns off automatically. To stop the operation at any time, move the slider back to position "1" and release it.
• Unplug it from the socket-outlet.
• Remove the container from the power supply base.

Protection from overheating

If the appliance is turned on empty, without milk, after about 30-40 seconds it will turn off automatically to protect it from overheating.

Appliance switching off

After using the appliance, immediately clean the container and whisk thus preventing milk from drying inside it.

To turn off the appliance, unplug the power cord from the power outlet.

CLEANING THE APPLIANCE

Warning!

All cleaning operations described below must be performed with the machine off and with the electric plug disconnected from the socket-outlet.

Regular maintenance and cleaning preserve and keep the machine efficient for a longer amount of time. Do not wash the appliance and its components in the dishwasher. Do not use direct jets of water.

All operations must be performed when the machine is cold.

• Wash the lid (1) and the whisk (2) with hot water and washing-up liquid.

• Wash only the inner part of the container (3) with hot water and washing-up liquid.

• If necessary, clean the power supply base (8) with a slightly damp cloth.

• Thoroughly dry all parts, especially the container (3), to prevent the formation of stains.

PUTTING OUT OF SERVICE

If the machine is put out of service, electrically disconnect it. Cut the power cord.

In the case of scrapping, you must separate the various materials used in making the machine and dispose of them based on their composition and on the legal provisions in force in the country of use.
