Frequently Asked Questions - Express Bagged Canister DIRT DEVIL

How to replace the dust bag?
Unplug the vacuum. Pull the latch to open the compartment. Lift the bag holder, slide the bag off the holder. Insert the new bag (Type O) into the holder, aligning the end. Replace the holder and close the cover until it clicks.
How to clean the exhaust filter?
Unplug the vacuum. Open the filter cover by pushing the tabs. Remove the F100 filter, rinse both sides with clean water. Air dry for 24 hours before reinstalling.
What to do if the vacuum stops suddenly?
This may be due to the thermal cut-off activated by overheating. Turn off and unplug the vacuum. Check that the bag is not full, and that filters and hose are not clogged. Let it cool for 30 minutes. The cut-off resets automatically. If the problem persists, contact after-sales service.
Why does dust escape from the vacuum?
Check that the dust bag is not full and is correctly installed. Make sure the exhaust filter is in place and clean. Also check that the hose is properly connected to the intake.
What is the proper use of the power cord?
Pull the plug to unwind the cord. Never pull the cord itself. A yellow band indicates the cord is almost at full length; a red band means it is fully extended. To rewind, hold the plug and press the release button.
What accessories are included with the vacuum?
The Express Bagged Canister vacuum comes with a hose, an adjustable extension tube, and several tools (crevice tool, brush, etc.). Consult the manual for the full list.
Where can I find genuine replacement parts?
Genuine replacement parts, such as the Type O bag and F100 filter, are available at www.dirtdevil.com or by contacting customer service at 1 800 321-1134.
What to do if the vacuum no longer picks up properly?
Check that the dust bag is not full, the exhaust filter is not clogged, and the hose is not blocked. Clean or replace the affected items.
How to properly store the vacuum?
Unplug the vacuum. Rewind the cord by holding the plug. Store the vacuum in a dry, indoor location. Do not expose to frost. Place it at the bottom of stairs to prevent falls.
