Please note the following safety notes to avoid malfunctions, damage or physical injury:
■ Make sure the voltage corresponds to the type label on the appliance.
- Persons with limited physical, sensorial or mental abilities are not allowed to use the unit, unless they are supervised for their safety by a qualified person or are briefed by the responsible person how to use the unit.
- Never leave the appliance unsupervised when in use. Keep it out of reach of children or persons in need of supervision. The food slicer is not a toy.
- Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the unit.
- Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquids or place it into the dishwasher. Do not use the appliance with wet hands.
- Do not use the appliance outdoors and always place it in a dry place.
- Do not place the appliance near or on hot surfaces.
- Switch off the appliance and unplug it from the power supply before cleaning or when not in use.
- Only use the appliance with the feeding carriage and the food retainer, unless it is not possible due to the size and shape of the food.
- Never move the appliance by pulling the cord. Make sure the cord cannot get caught in any way. Do not wind the cord around the appliance and do not bend it.
- Only use this slicer for cutting suitable food. Do not cut meat with bones.
- Never touch the blade. The blade is extremely sharp. Always be very careful when handling the blade.
Safety Notes
- Keep this appliance and the accessory clean at all times as they come into direct contact with food.
- The device is not intended for continuous professional operation. The device is intended to be used in closed rooms only and in similar applications such as: staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; farm houses; by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; bed and breakfast type environments. The use in any other way is not considered as intended use.
- Only use original spare parts which can be requested from Westfalia.
- Should the appliance become damaged, do not use it and have it repaired by a professional or contact our customer support department. Do not disassemble the appliance or try to repair it yourself.

Clean all parts of the appliance before using the first time as described below in chapter “Cleaning and Storing”.
The smell of “hot metal” might be noticed when using the food slicer for the first few times. It is caused by the biological lubricant and will disappear.
Setting up the Appliance
■ Make sure the appliance sits steadily on a solid level surface.
- Insert the food retainer with hand protection (3) on the feeding carriage. Only use the food slicer with feeding carriage and food retainer unless it is not possible due to the size and shape of the food!
- Connect the appliance with a power socket. The food slicer is now ready for use.
Operating
- Place a collecting tray or a suitable plate below the blade to collect the slices.
- Use the thickness adjusting knob (1) to adjust the slicing thickness according to your needs (max. 13 mm).
- Pull the feeding carriage (5) all the way to the front and place the food to be sliced in front of the food retainer (3).
- Push the safety switch (8) towards the ON/OFF button (7) and hold it in that position. Then additionally press the ON/OFF button (7) so it audibly snaps in place. The LED of the ON/OFF button lights up and indicates the operating status of the device. The blade rotates.
- Gently push the food with the food retainer against the food guide (2) and then into the rotating blade (4). Always make sure to keep you thumb behind the thumb guard. Keep your hands away from the rotating blade!
Operating
- If the blade slows down while slicing, move it a little bit back and start pushing again with less pressure. Do not overload it.
- Press the ON/OFF button (7) to switch off the food slicer.
Note: After 10 minutes of operation let the appliance cool down for 30 minutes. To avoid food sticking on the blade, moisten the blade with little cooking oil if necessary.
Cleaning and Storing
- Keep this appliance and the accessory clean at all times as they come into direct contact with food.
■ Always unplug the appliance from the power mains before cleaning or storing.
■ For better cleaning, fold down the carriage unit (5).
- Wipe the housing of the appliance with a lightly moistened cloth. Use detergent as needed. Do not put it in a dishwasher. Do not immerse it in water or any other liquids.
- Clean the food retainer (3) in soapy water and dry it well before re-assembling the appliance.
- Do not clean the appliance with aggressive chemicals or abrasives in order not to damage the surface.
- Be very careful when handling the blade as it is extremely sharp. For cleaning the blade disassemble it as follows. Remove the bolt in the middle of the blade by turning it clockwise (step 1). Then carefully remove the blade (step 2). After cleaning, install the blade by fixing the gear and moving the bolt counter clockwise.
