    b. Green indicatoin light "heating"
  5. Power cord with plug

OPERATION - Before the first use

  1. Remove the sandwich maker from the packaging, and remove all packaging materials.
  2. Clean the baking plates before using them for the first time (see 'Cleaning and maintenance').

OPERATION - Preparation

  1. Put the plug in the wall socket. The "power" indicator lamp (red) will illuminate to show that the appliance is on.
  2. Take four slices of bread that fit in the sandwich maker. Cut the edges off slices that are too large, so that they fit in the appliance.
  3. Allow the sandwich maker to heat up in the closed position.
  4. Lay two slices of ham and/or cheese on two slices of bread, and cover with the other two slices of bread. Make sure that the ham and/or cheese does not project from the sandwich.

  5. Do not use butter; you do not need butter to prepare a delicious toasted sandwich. The non-stick coating will ensure that the sandwich does not stick to the baking plates.

  6. Try varying the ingredients. You can use herbs, fruit, and various types of cheese and meat to make delicious sandwiches.

BESTRON AFS8009 - OPERATION - Preparation - 1

You can also make just one sandwich. You just leave the other baking plate empty.

OPERATION - Toasting sandwiches

  1. Wait until the green indicator light goes on. The baking plates are now at the correct temperature and the sandwich maker is ready for use.

BESTRON AFS8009 - OPERATION - Toasting sandwiches - 1

During use the heating element will switch on and off to keep the temperature of the baking plate constant. Consequently the indicator light will also occasionally be illuminated.

BESTRON AFS8009 - OPERATION - Toasting sandwiches - 2

The appliance may emit a little smoke and a characteristic smell when you switch it on for the first time. This is normal, and will soon stop. Make sure the appliance has sufficient ventilation. If necessary, toast the first sandwiches without ham or cheese and throw them away.

  1. Open the latch and lift the cover by the handle.
  2. Place the prepared sandwiches in the forms in the baking plate.
  3. Close the cover and click the latch closed.

If you cannot close the cover and you cannot close the latch, there is too much ham or cheese on the sandwich. Do not try to close the cover with force; instead, remove some ham and/or cheese from the sandwich.

  1. Toast the sandwich until it turns golden-brown. With experience, you will find the correct baking time for your type of bread and ham or cheese.
  2. Open the cover and remove the sandwiches from the baking plate with a wooden or plastic spatula.

Never use a metal spatula, knife or fork. These will damage the non-stick coating.

  1. If you do not want to toast any more sandwiches, remove the plug from the wall socket and allow the appliance to cool.

Enjoy your meal!
