This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still dose not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. “This sewing machine is intended for household use only.” Use only foot controller YC-485 with your HZL-E71. Be sure to turn power switch OFF and disconnect the plug from the wall outlet before replacing the sewing machine needle or lubricating the machine. When not in use, be sure to turn power switch OFF and unplug the machine. Do not use thinner or other similar solvents to clean the machine. Do not expose the machine to direct sunlight or humid atmosphere.

  • Standard presser foot (A) is equipped with machine.
  • You can keep instruction manual at hard case.

  • When machine is turned on again or a pattern is re-selected, the stitch length will be automatically set to a preset one.
  • To adjust the stitch length to a desired one, press the manual button (the lamp will light up) (To cancel the manual adjustment mode, select a pattern or press the manual button again.)
  • The machine will peep when the adjusting lever is moved. Set the adjusting lever at a desired position.
  • Even in the case where the stitch length is manually adjusted, the manual button will flash on and off when the automatically-determined stitch length position is reached.

Press the reverse stitch but- ton at the predetermined po- sition, and the machine will perform lock stitches and stop at the predetermined position. (The machine will stop with its needle up.)

  • To adjust the stitch width, press the manual button (manual button will light up) and move the adjusting lever to left or right.
  • To cancel the manual adjustment mode, select a pattern or press the manual button again.

Lower the buttonholing lever. Lower the lever until it will go no further.

  • To sew buttonholes on heavy-weight materials such as denim with thick thread, set the stitch length larger than the automatically-determined one.
  • To change the sewing length stored in memory, reselect the pattern number and follow steps 1 through 5.
  • Sew patterns so that they extend over both pieces of fabric.

Insert zippers using the standard presser foot (A). Place the fabrics face-to-face. Check the runstitching length and the length of zipper to be inserted. Baste the zipper on the fabrics.

  • Adjust the width adjusting lever on condition that needle is not stinging fabric.

1. Take care not to allow fabric to come in contact with

buttonholing lever. If buttonholing lever is pressed by mistake, operation mode will be changed to bartacking.

2. If sewing machine does not operate as described above,

stop machine and re-press stitch selection button. It will start buttonholing from the beginning. ATTENTION:

  • Sewing speed should be set at low to medium.
  • Power consumption of lamp bulb is 15 W.
  • Purchase correct lamp bulb from JUKI distributor in your area from which you have bought your machine.
