ISHWASHER How to load your dishes First of all.Before placing the dishes in theracks, remove the largestscraps of food left over on yourplates, you will thus avoidblocking the filter, which wouldreduce the efficacy of the wash.If the saucepans and fryingpans are very dirty, allow themto soak before being washed.To make it easier to load yourdishes, pull the racks out.What goes into thelower rack?We recommend you place themost difficult dishes to washinto the lower rack: saucepans,lids, soup dishes and plates (aload example is shown in thephoto). Serving dishes and largelids: place them on the sidesof the rack. Saucepans, salad bowls:must always be placedupside down Very deep dishes: placethem obliquely, thusallowing water to run downthem and cleaning thembetterThe cutlery basket is equippedwith two removable grids:insert the cutlery one by oneinto the slots, with the handlesat the bottom (Fig. A and B).Knives and utensils with sharpblades or tips should be positionedwith the sharp parts at the bottom.Position them so that they don'ttouch.It is best if you place longer utensilshorizontally at the front of theupper rack.What goes into theupper rack?Place delicate and lightweight di-shes in the upper rack: glasses, teacups and coffee cups, saucers - butplates too - shallow salad bowls,slightly dirty frying pans andshallow pans (the photo illustratesa few examples).The appliance can also be equippedwith one or two tip-up compart-ments onto which you can placemugs and cups, as well as long sharpknives and serving cutlery.Position lightweight dishes in sucha way as to avoid their being mo-ved by the spray of water.After loading the dishes, remem-ber to check that the blades on thesprayer arms can turn freely wi-thout knocking against any dishes.How to adjust the toprack.The upper rack can be set inhigh or low position to enableyou to organise your disheseffortlessly. Before washing, a few small steps can help you get a better wash and keep your dishwasher for longer. Remove the largest scraps of food left over on your plates, soak saucepans and frying pans with tough incrustations. After loading your dishes, make sure the blades on the sprayer arm turn well.Do not place glasses and cups on top of one another, and make sure the dishes are not touching. lower rackupper rackLoad examplesOpen the rail stop flaps and pull therack out completely. Now place it in highor low position, then slide it along theguide rails until the front wheels also goin. Now close the rail stop flaps. Followthe sequence of actions illustrated infigure "F".

ISHWASHER You have loaded your dishes and you now have to set the wash cycle. It takes just one minute to learn how Starting the dishwasher Ready, steady, go! You can cancel thewash cycle inprogress, if it hasonly just started.Make sure the washcycle has endedbefore removing thedishes!If opening the doorsoon after the end ofthe programme,orduring it, stand awayfrom the Dishwasher,to avoid possibleinjury from hotsteam.First of all.After performing all theoperations described in theprevious paragraphs, turn thewater tap on completely andpress ON-OFF button "A": youwill hear a short beep andindicator light "B" lights up.Now the appliance is on andready to be programmed.Selecting the washcycle.To select the wash cycle, turnknob "D" clockwise until thereference notch on the knobcorresponds with the numberor symbol for the cycle youwish to set (have a look at thewash cycle table on page 17).For a few seconds, theindicator light "G" concerningthe pre-wash cycle phasebegins to flash, then it stayspermanently on withoutflashing for another 10 secondsapproximately. During thistime, you can modify yourchoice of wash cycle. A shortbeep will indicate the start ofthe wash cycle and indicatorlight "G" corresponding to thecycle starting phase will light up. The dishwasher keepsyou informed.Your dishwasher is fitted withindicator lights (G) which lightup to indicate the cycle phaseunder way.Here are the symbols corre-sponding to each cycle phase:pre-wash, wash, rinses, drying.At all times, your dishwashertells you which cycle phase isunder way.Modifying a wash cyclein progress.But if you have chosen thewrong cycle, not to worry! Youcan modify the wash cycle inprogress, if it has only juststarted. Turn the knob anti-clockwise until it reaches theReset position and, after a fewseconds, you will hear 4 beepsand indicator light "G" will turnoff. This is to inform you thatall the settings have been can-celled. You are now free to re-set the correct wash cycle.You've left out a dish?Well, it happens to everyone.Interrupt the wash cycle bypressing the ON-OFF button,insert the dish you had forgot-ten and press the ON-OFF but-ton again. The cycle will startup from where you interrupted it. Finished?The end of the wash cycle isindicated by two short beepsand the flashing of the dryingphase indicator light.Turn the knob anti-clockwise toReset in order to reset all thesettings.Turn the appliance off to cut offthe electricity supply.Turn off the water tap.Wait a few minutes before un-loading the dishes: they are veryhot! If you wait a little while,they dry better thanks to thesteam.Empty the lower rack first.There's been a powerfailure? Have youopened the dishwasherdoor?The wash cycle stops and thenrestarts when the electricitycomes back on or when youshut the door. ISHWASHER Detergent and rinse aid The rinse aid.This product makes dishessparkle more as it improvestheir drying. The rinse aidcontainer is situated on theinside of the appliance door;you should refill it when yousee the container is empty bymeans of indicator light D.(If your dishwasher is fittedwith a low rinse aid indicatorlight, fill the container up whenthe indicator light flashes orlights up).Loading the rinse aid.To open the dispenser, turn capC anticlockwise. Take carewhen you pour in the rinse aidto avoid it overflowing. You canadapt the amount of rinse aidused by the dishwasher:regulate the adjuster F whichyou will find under lid C.Only use specific dishwasher detergents. Pour the detergent into the dispenser on the insideof the door. Before the wash cycle starts! Useful tips The detergentLoading the detergentTo open lid A, press button B.The detergent should bepoured into the two containersC and D up to the rim.Now you can close the lid: pressit down until you hear it click.If you prefer to use thedetergent in tablets, place oneof these in container "D". Nowyou can close the lid: press itdown until you hear it click.It won't close!Check whether there is anydetergent residue on the edgesof the dispenser. It is due to thisresidue that the lid won't close.Get rid of it and you'll see thatit closes.You can choose from six differentpositions. It is normally set to 4. Use the rightamount of detergent:if you use too much,you will not getcleaner dishes, butjust moreenvironmentalpollution. Keep yourdishwasher detergentand rinse aid in acool, dry place andaway from children.Proper dosage of therinse aid improvesdrying.If drops of waterremain on the dishesor spotting occurs,turn the dosageadjuster to a highersetting.If, on the other hand,the dishes have whitestreaks, then turn thedosage adjuster downto a lower setting.WarningThree-in-one dishwasher tablets are now available on the market, and combine the detergent, salt and rinse aidall in one. If the water in your area is hard or very hard, we still recommend you pour extra salt into therelevant dispenser to prevent the formation of white streaks on your dishes or on the appliance interior.Add rinse aid to the corresponding container only if you are dissatisfied with the results on your dishes.In any case, please read the manufacturer's instructions provided on the packet.

ISHWASHER Never without salt Loading the salt.Always use salt which is intendedfor dishwasher use.The salt container is situatedunderneath the lower rack, fill itup as follows:1.Pull out the lower rackcompletely, unscrew andremove the container cap2. Is it the first time you load thesalt? First fill the container upwith water (you won't have todo this again next time)3. Put the dishwasher funnel onthe hole and pour inapproximately two kilos ofsalt. It is normal that somewater comes out of thecontainer.4. Screw the cap back in placecarefully. Water in your home Low Salt IndicatorThis green device is located atthe centre of the cap for thedecalcification cartridge and itindicates whether the containeris full.When the indicator is notvisible it means that the supplyof salt must be replenished.Intelligent salt.Your dishwasher can adjust itssalt consumption according tothe hardness of the water in yourhome. This way, you can optimiseand customise your dishwasher'ssalt consumption (not too much,nor too little).To adjust salt consumption, do asfollows:1. Unscrew the salt container cap2. There is an arrow on the neckof the container (see figure):if necessary, turn the arrowanti-clockwise from the "-"setting to the "+" setting.Select the arrow positiondepending on the water hardness,referring to the table provided.You don't know howhard the water inyour home is? Askthe company thatsupplies water inyour area.Water hardness varies according to where you live. If the water in your home is hard, without watersoftening, incrustations would form on your dishes. Your dishwasher is fitted with a water softenerwhich uses special salt to get rid of limescale in the water.Using your electric household applianceswisely helps you make savings and is good forthe environment. Savings are easy Maximum load.To optimise consumption levels, try to use thedishwasher with a full load only. If it takes quitesome time to fill up your dishwasher, use the soakcycle to avoid the formation of bad odours and caked-on food.The right wash cycle.Select the most suitable wash cycle for the type ofload you have placed in the dishwasher. The choice ofwash cycle depends on the type of dishes to washand on how dirty they are. To select the right washcycle, please consult the wash cycle table on page 17. How to look after and protect the dishes you hold dear ■ For particularly delicatedishes, we recommend youuse the specific wash cycleoffered by your dishwasher. Suggestions and advice for you. Apart from makingyou save time andenergy, yourdishwasher disinfectsyour dishes, washingthem at a hightemperature.■ Silver plates and servingdishes should be washedimmediately after use,especially if they havecontained salt, eggs, olives,mustard, vinegar, fruit juicesand cooked vegetables.■ Almost all silverware canbe cleaned in a dishwasher.There are two exceptions:old silverware andsilverware decorated withan oxidising agent. If this precaution isnot taken, the water inlet couldget blocked, causing damage toyour dishwasher.Hot water connection.Your dishwasher can besupplied with hot water fromthe mains supply (if you have acentral heating system withradiators) at a temperature ofno more than 60°C.In this case, the wash cycle timewill be about 15 minutesshorter and the wash will beslightly less effective.The connection must be madeto hot water supply followingthe same procedures as thoseindicated for the cold waterconnection.Anti-floodingprotectionYour dishwasher is providedwith a special system whichblocks the water supply in theevent of leaks inside theappliance. It is further equippedwith a water inlet hose that canwithstand extremely highpressures and that turns brightred in the event of breakage.Safety in the event of floodingis ensured by the second clearhose that contains the formerand thus highlights the latterwhen it has turned bright red.It is vital that you check it on aregular basis: if you see it hasturned bright red, then youknow you have to replace it assoon as possible. Call for anauthorised technical engineerto come and replace it.Drain hose connection.Fit the drain pipe into a drain linewith a minimum diameter of 4cm or place it over the sink. Avoidrestricting or bending it. Use thespecial plastic elbow provided(see figure) to position it in thebest possible way. The part of thepipe marked with the letter Ashould be between 40 and 100cm above the ground.The pipe should not be immersedin water.Electrical connection.First of all, check that the mainsvoltage and frequency valuescorrespond to those stated on therating plate located on thestainless steel inner door of theappliance and that the electricalsystem to which the dishwasheris connected is sized for themaximum current indicated onsaid rating plate.Choose where you want toinstall your dishwasher, youcan even place it so that itssides or back panel are side byside with furniture or up againstthe wall. The dishwasher isprovided with water supply anddrain hoses, which can bedirected towards the left orright to facilitate appropriateinstallation.Levelling.Once the appliance ispositioned, adjust the feet byscrewing them in or outdepending on how high youwant it and to level it so that itis horizontal. Make sure that itis not inclined more than 2degrees. If the appliance islevel, it will help ensure itscorrect operation.Adjusting the back FeetInsert the appliance into thecutout and then adjust theheight using the screws locatedon the front bottom part of themachine. Use a screwdriver toturn the screws in theclockwise or anti-clockwisedirection to increase ordecrease the heightrespectively.Cold water connection.This electric householdappliance should be connectedto the water mains using thecold water supply hoseprovided with the applianceonly. ISHWASHER Safety within your home Your dishwasher was built in accordance with the strictest international safety regulations. They protect you and your family. Read the instructions and information contained in this manual: they will provide you with useful hints as to installation, use and maintenance safety. To avoid nasty surprises.1. Dispose of the packagingmaterial carefully (followthe instructions on how todivide your rubbish upprovided by your localCouncil)2. After removing thepackaging, check to makesure your appliance isintact. If in doubt, contacta qualified professional.3. Your dishwasher must onlybe used by adults and forwashing household dishes,according to theinstructions included inthis manual. Do not touchthe appliance with wethands or feet or barefoot.4. We discourage the use ofextension leads and multi-ple plugs. If the electricitysupply wire is not longenough, then have itreplaced with one of thecorrect length andremember that it should befree of bends or dangerouskinks.5. If the appliance is notoperating properly or ifmaintenance operationsare necessary, disconnectthe dishwasher from themains power supply(unplug it!).6. Keep children away fromthe dishwasher when it isopen and keep detergentsout of their reach.7. Your dishwasher is not tobe installed outdoors, noteven if the area is coveredby a roof: it is extremelydangerous to leave itexposed to rain andthunderstorms.8. Do not touch the heatingelement during or straightafter a wash cycle.9. Do not lean or sit on thedoor when it is open, asthis could overturn thedishwasher.10. If the appliancemalfunctions, turn off thewater inlet tap anddisconnect the plug fromthe wall socket. In many cases, these are problems which can be solved without having to call for a technician. Before calling the service centre, always check the points below.The dishwasher won'tstart■ Is the water supply tapturned on?■ Is the water supply tapconnected to the hoseproperly?■ Has the water in your homebeen cut off?■ Is the pressure of the watersupply sufficient?■ Is the hose bent?■ Is the filter on the watersupply hose blocked?■ Is the dishwasher dooropen?The dishes are notclean.■ Have you put the rightamount of detergent into thedispenser?■ Is the wash cycle suitable forthe dishes you have placedinside the appliance?■ Are the filter and microfilterclean?■ Can the sprayer arms turnfreely?The dishwasher won'tdrain.■ Is the drain hose bent?Limescale deposits or awhite film form on thedishes.■ Is the lid on the saltcontainer closed properly?■ Is the rinse aid dosagecorrect?Error messages.Your dishwasher is equippedwith a safety system which isable to detect any operatinganomalies. These anomaliesare reported by one or twowash cycle indicator lights "G"flashing rapidly.Take a note of which lights areflashing, turn the appliance offand call for technical assist-ance.Tap off alarmIf you have forgotten to turn thewater tap on, your appliancewill remind you of this bysounding a few short beeps fora few minutes. Turn the tap on andyour appliance will start up againafter a few minutes. Were you tobe absent when these beeps aresounded, the appliance will beblocked automatically andindicator lights 2 and 3 (wash andrinses) will flash rapidly. Turn theappliance off at the ON-OFF but-ton, turn on the water tap and waitapproximately 20 seconds beforeturning the appliance back on. Re-select a wash cycle as indicated inthe "Selecting the wash cycle"paragraph and the appliance willstart.Clogged filter alarmIf the appliance is blocked andindicator lights 1 (pre-wash)and 3 (rinses) flash rapidly, thismeans the filter is clogged bylarge particles of food residue.Turn the appliance off, cleanthe filter thoroughly and repo-sition it in its seat as illustratedon page 21. Then turn it backon. The selected wash cycle willstart up again. Troubleshooting Water load solenoid valvemalfunction alarm.If indicator light 2 (wash) flashesrapidly, TURN the dishwasher OFFAND BACK ON AGAIN after oneminute. If the alarm persists, firstturn off the water tap to avoid anyflooding and then cut off theelectricity supply and call fortechnical assistance.You have checkedeverything, but thedishwasher still doesn'twork and the problempersists?Call an authorised service centrenear you and remember to mention: the type of malfunction the model mark (Mod.) and theserial number (S/N.) indicated onthe rating plate located on the innerdoor, to one side.I only want an authorisedspecialised technician withoriginal Ariston guaranteed sparepartsproblem, read this". If youcannot resolve theproblem, then call theservice centre.11. ISHWASHER Cleaning and special maintenance Cleaning the sprayerarms.Food residue may becomeencrusted onto the sprayerarms and block the holes wherewater comes out. Check thesprayer arms regularly andclean them once in a while(letters F and I How is itmade?).Once in a while, once amonth, spend a littletime on the filterassembly and thesprayer arms. Keep your dishwasher in shape After every wash.When the wash cycle hasended, always remember toturn off the water supply tapand to leave the appliance doorajar. This way, moisture andbad odours will not be trappedinside.Unplug the appliance.Before carrying out anycleaning or maintenance on thedishwasher, always remove theplug from the electricity socket.Do not run risks.No solvents! Noabrasives!To clean the exterior andrubber parts of your appliance,do not use solvents or abrasivecleaning products. Use a clothdampened with lukewarmsoapy water only.If there are any stains on thesurface of the applianceinterior, use a cloth dampenedwith water and a little whitevinegar, or a cleaning productspecifically made fordishwashers.Going on holiday?When you go away for anextended period of time, werecommend you do thefollowing: run a cycle with thedishwasher empty turn off the water inlet tap. leave the appliance door ajarThis will help the seals lastlonger and prevent unpleasantodours from forming inside theappliance.Moving the appliance.Should the appliance have to bemoved, try to keep it in avertical position. If absolutelynecessary, it can be positionedon its back.The seals.One of the factors that causeunpleasant odours to forminside the dishwasher is foodthat remains trapped in theseals.
