Please read these instructions carefully and completely before operating this appliance and retain for future use.

Legislation requires that all electrical and electronic equipment must be collected for reuse and recycling. Electrical and electronic equipment marked with the symbol indicating separate collection of such equipment must be returned to a municipal waste collection point.

SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS

• Please read the instructions carefully and completely before operating this appliance and retain for future use.
• The appliance is intended solely for domestic use within the home.
• Always use batteries which corresponds with the voltage printed on the bottom of the appliance.
• Never place this appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner or where it could touch a heated oven or microwave oven.
  Always use the appliance on a secure, dry and level surface.
• Never operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after an appliance malfunction or if it has been damaged in any manner.
• For your own safety, only use the accessories and spare parts from the manufacturer which are suitable for the appliance.
• An electrical appliance is not a toy, and should therefore always be placed outside the reach of children. Children are not always able to understand potential risks. Teach children a responsible handling of electrical appliances.
  If you decide never to use the appliance again, we advise you to dispose of it in special containers or at a municipal waste collection point.
  Always turn off the appliance when not in use and when cleaning.
• Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid to protect against electrical hazards.
  If the appliance is used for other purposes than intended, or is it not handled in accordance with the instruction manual, the full responsibility for any consequences will rest with the user. Any damages to the product or other things are not covered by the warranty.

Before use

Before you use the appliance for the first time, please do as follows: carefully unpack the appliance and remove all the packaging material. Keep the material (plastic bags and cardboard) out of reach of children. Check the appliance after unpacking for any damage, possible from transportation. Put the appliance on a flat and stable surface. Check if the battery - 3 Volt, CR2032 - is placed in the compartment on the bottom. Check the position of the switch on the bottom of the scale: kg or oz/lb.

• kg = measuring in grams
• oz/lb = measuring in ounces and pounds

Wipe the outside of the kitchenscale only with a damp cloth.

Operation

Put the appliance on a flat and stable surface. Switch the scale on by pressing the «On/Off/Tara» button and wait till «0 g» appears on the display. The kitchenscale is now ready for weighing. Place the item to be weighted directly on the scale. The weight thereof is displayed immediately. The scale can accept a maximum load of 5 kg (5000 grams). The weight measurement is displayed in 1 g divisions. And the scale has a «Tara» adding function. Remove the "overweight" when «E----» appears in the display. NOTE: The total weight placed on the scale can not be more than 5 kg (5000 grams).

Addingfunction

With the adding function you can reset the display to "0" after placing a product. This allows you to weigh in a bowl.

Do as follows:

1. Place a empty bowl on the scale.
2. Press the scale on with the «On/Off/Tara» button and wait till «0 g» appears on the display.
3. Place the first product you wish to weigh in the bowl.
4. Read the weight shown on the display.
5. After weighing, press the «On/Off/Tara» button to reset the scal to "0" and you can add the next ingredient.

By repeating step 3, 4 and 5 you can weigh multiple ingredients (e.g. baking ingredients). NOTE: The total weight placed on the scale can not be more than 5kg (5000 grams). Remove the "overweight" when E - appears in the display.

Batteries

If the kitchenscale is left unused for longer than approx. 240 seconds, it automatically switches itself off. You can also turn the scale off manually by pressing the button «On/Off/Tara». When «Lo» appears in the display, the battery needs to be replaced.

NOTE: Spent batteries and rechargeable batteries do not constitute normal household waste! They are considered to be toxic waste and, as such, should be disposed of in special containers, toxic waste collection points or brought to electrical goods dealers.

Remark: Batteries containing pollutant substances are marked as follows: Pb = Battery contains lead, Cd = Battery contains cadmium, Hg = Battery contains mercury.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

Wipe the kitchen scale only with a damp cloth. Never immerse the scale in water or any other liquids. Handle the scale with care, protect the scale from impact with hard objects and do not drop it.

• This product is guaranteed for a period of 2 years from the date of purchase against mechanical and electrical defect.
• Guarantee can only be given if proof of purchase (e.g. till receipt) can be shown. Therefore keep it in a safe place. The guarantee period starts at date of purchase.

• Guarantee is not valid in case of:

• normal wear;

• damage through misuse use or when the instructions were not followed correctly;
• lack of maintenance;
• not following the operation- and safety instructions;
• incompetent montage or repairs made by yourself or others;
• using accessories and spare parts which are not suitable for the appliance;

for assessment by our technical department.

The guarantee is not valid for:

• batteries;

for assessment by our technical department.

Return the appliance, including proof of purchase and description of the complaint, stamped to:

• Pack it carefully (preferably in the original carton). Ensure unit is clean.
• Enclose your name and address and quote model number WS165 on all correspondence.

When the guarantee is no longer valid or when the period of guarantee has passed, we will charge any costs that flow out of an assessment and/or repairing.

On request we will supply a statement before repairing. Without requesting a statement, we assume that you, by sending the appliance, automatically order to repair the appliance.

A guarantee period of two months is valid for repairs done by our technical department and the used spare parts, counting from the repairdate. When a malfunction occurs within this period which directly flows out of the repairs and the used spare parts, the consumer has the right of repairs without any costs.

We reserve the right to change this product, packaging and documentation without notice.
