Why does the refrigerator make a clicking noise at startup?
Frequently Asked Questions - 06/08/2026
Response Notice-Facile

The clicking or popping noise you hear when you plug in your FAGOR FFJ6825N refrigerator is completely normal. It is the compressor starting up, an essential component for the circulation of the refrigerant R600A.

This noise is particularly noticeable during the first startup, as the compressor activates an electrical relay to begin its operation. The occasional clicking sounds that follow during operation are also normal.

To minimize this noise:

  • Ensure that the appliance is level and stable on the floor. An uneven surface amplifies vibrations.
  • Allow a minimum delay of 2 hours between transport/placement and plugging in the appliance, to let the internal fluids stabilize.
  • Maintain a clearance of at least 25 mm between the back of the appliance and the wall, to allow for good air circulation and reduce resonances.
  • Check that the shelves and containers are properly positioned and do not vibrate together.

These startup and normal operating noises will quickly disappear once you get used to them. If the noise becomes excessive or abnormal (strong vibrations, continuous hissing), check the balance of the appliance and contact FAGOR support.
