Frequently Asked Questions - WS50GA HAIER

How to adjust the temperature of the wine cellar?
Press and hold the setting key for about 3 seconds until the display flashes. Use the + or - keys to adjust the temperature between 5 °C and 20 °C. Wait 5 seconds or press the setting key again to confirm. The unit may take some time to reach the temperature.
Why is my wine not cold enough?
Check if the door is opened too often or if warm bottles have just been added. Ensure the door seals are airtight and clean the condenser if needed. You can also lower the temperature setting.
Why is the wine temperature too low?
If the setting is too low, increase the temperature using the keys. Also check that the sensor is not obstructed by bottles.
Why does the wine cellar start too frequently?
This may be normal in hot and humid weather. Check that the door is properly closed and the seals are airtight. Clean the condenser and reduce the door opening frequency.
Why is there humidity inside or outside the cellar?
This is normal in periods of high humidity. Make sure the door is not opened too long and the door seals are in good condition. Check the tightness.
How to clean my wine cellar?
Unplug the unit before cleaning. Prepare a solution of 3-4 teaspoons of baking soda in warm water. Wipe with a soft sponge, rinse with warm water and dry. Do not use abrasive products or ammonia.
How to level the wine cellar?
Use the adjustable feet at the front and rear corners. Turn clockwise to raise, counterclockwise to lower. The door will close better once level.
Can I use an extension cord?
It is best to avoid extension cords. If necessary, use an extension cord with grounded plug and a power rating at least equal to that of the unit.
What to do in case of a power outage?
Unplug the unit during the outage. Once power is restored, plug it back in. Wait for the temperature to stabilize before unnecessarily opening the door.
How to maintain the door seals?
Clean the seals every three months with the same solution as for the interior. Apply a little petroleum jelly to the hinges to maintain their flexibility and ensure a good seal.

Installing Your Wine Cellar

Unpacking Your Wine Cellar

  1. Remove all packaging material. This includes the foam base and all adhesive tape holding the wine cellar accessories inside and outside.
  2. Inspect and remove any remains of packing, tape or printed materials before powering on the wine cellar.

Leveling Your Wine Cellar

  • Your wine cellar has leveling legs located in the front and rear corners. After properly placing your wine cellar in its final position, you can level it.
  • The leveling legs can be adjusted by turning them clockwise to raise the wine cellar or counterclockwise to lower it. The door will close easier when the leveling legs are extended.

Proper Air Circulation

  • To ensure your wine cellar operates at maximum efficiency, install it in a location with proper air circulation, plumbing, and electrical connections.
  • The following clearances are recommended around the wine cellar:

Sides: 2" (50 mm)

Top: 2" (50 mm)

Back: 2" (50 mm)

Do not overfill your wine cellar to ensure proper wine cooling.

Note: If your wine cellar has been tilted for any reason, wait 24 hours before plugging it in.

Electrical Requirements

  • Make sure there is a suitable power outlet (220-240V, 15 amps) with proper grounding to power the wine cellar.
  • Avoid using three-prong adapters or cutting off the third grounding prong to accommodate a two-prong outlet. This is a dangerous practice as it provides no effective grounding for the wine cellar and may result in a shock hazard.

Installation Limitations

  • Do not install your wine cellar in any location not properly insulated or heated, e.g., garage, etc. Your wine cellar was not designed to operate in ambient temperatures below 16°C.
  • Select a suitable location for the wine cellar on a hard, even surface away from direct sunlight or heat sources, e.g., radiators, baseboard heaters, cooking appliances, etc. Any floor unevenness should be corrected with the leveling legs located on the front and rear bottom corners of the wine cellar.
  • Your wine cellar is designed for free-standing installation only. It is not designed for built-in application.

Use of Extension Cord

- Avoid the use of an extension cord because of potential safety hazards under certain conditions. If it is necessary to use an extension cord, use only an extension cord that has a plug and an outlet with grounding function. The marked rating of the extension cord must be equal to or greater than the electrical rating of the appliance.

Wine Cellar Features And Use

Initial Setup

Once you have plugged the unit into an electrical outlet, let the unit run for at least 30 minutes to acclimatize itself before making any adjustments.

  • When door is open the light will go on. Upon closing the door, the light will go off.

Normal Operating Sounds You May Hear

  • Boiling water, gurgling sounds, or slight vibrations that are the result of the refrigerant circulating through the cooling coils.
  • The thermostat control will click when it cycles on and off.

Proper Wine Cellar Care and Cleaning

Cleaning and Maintenance

Warning: To avoid electric shock, always unplug your wine cellar before cleaning. Ignoring this warning may result in death or injury.

Caution: Before using cleaning products, always read and follow the manufacturer's instructions and warnings to avoid personal injury or product damage.

General: Prepare a cleaning solution of 3-4 tablespoons of baking soda mixed with warm water. Use a sponge or soft cloth, dampened with the cleaning solution, to wipe down your wine cellar. • Rinse with clean warm water and dry with a soft cloth. • Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasives, ammonia, chlorine bleach, concentrated detergents, solvents, or metal scouring pads. Some of these chemicals may dissolve, damage, and/or discolor your wine cellar.

Door Gaskets: Clean door gaskets every three months according to the general instructions. Gaskets must be kept clean and pliable to assure a proper seal. • Petroleum jelly applied lightly on the hinge side of gaskets will keep the gasket pliable and assure a good seal.

Power Interruptions

- Occasionally there may be power interruptions due to thunderstorms or other causes. Remove the power cord from the AC outlet when a power outage occurs. When power has been restored, replug the power cord into the AC outlet.

Vacation and Moving Care

- For long vacations or absences, unplug the wine cellar and clean the wine cellar and door gaskets according to the "General Cleaning" section. Leave the doors open so that air can circulate inside. - When moving, always move the wine cellar vertically. Do not move with the unit lying down, as possible damage to the sealed system could occur.

Note: After moving, wait for 24 hours before plugging in the wine cellar.

Troubleshooting

  • Allow time for recently added wine to reach desired temperature.
  • Check gaskets for proper seal.
  • Clean condenser coils.
  • Adjust temperature control to colder setting.

Wine temperature is too cold:

- If temperature control setting is too cold, adjust to a warmer setting.

Wine cellar runs too frequently:

  • This may be normal to maintain constant temperature during high temperature and humid days.
  • Doors may have been opened frequently or for an extended period of time.
  • Clean condenser coils.
  • Check gasket for proper seal.
  • Check to see if doors are completely closed.

Moisture build up on interior or exterior of the wine cellar:
