Operation and controls

See figure 1.

The appliance includes the following:

1 Glass jug with a lid
2 Housing
3 'RUN' indicator light
4 Display
5 Hour setting button ('HOUR')
6 On/Off button ('ON/OFF')
7 Cover for the filter holder
8 Filter holder
9 Measuring spoon
10 Water reservoir with level indication
11 Programming button ('PROG')
12 Minute setting button ('MIN')
13 'AUTO' indicator light
14 Power cord and plug
15 Hotplate

Before using for the first time

1 Take the appliance out of the box and remove all of the packaging materials.
2 Place the appliance on a flat, sturdy surface.

3 Insert the plug into the plug socket.
4 To clean the inside of the appliance, only use water for the first few times. Follow the instructions given in 'Making coffee', except do not use a paper filter or any ground coffee. When finished, throw the water away and clean the appliance (see 'Maintenance and cleaning').

Setting the clock

'12:00' will be shown on the display after the plug has been inserted into the plug socket. The clock must be set to the correct time if you wish to use the timer function (see 'Setting the timer') or if you wish the appliance to display the correct time.

1 Press the programming button ('PROG'). 'CLOCK' will appear in the top right-hand corner of the display.
2 Press the hour and minute setting buttons ('HOUR' and 'MIN') to set the time.
3 'CLOCK' will disappear after 10 seconds and the time will then be set.

Making coffee

1 Open the lid of the filter holder.
2 Fill the water reservoir with the desired volume of water (a minimum of 3 cups and a maximum of 15 cups, as indicated).

See figure 2.

3 Place the filter holder and lock it properly in the appliance, before placing the glass jug.

See figure 3.

4 Place the glass jug on the hotplate.
5 Place a paper coffee filter (size 1x4) in the filter holder and fill it with the required quantity of ground coffee (as a standard, 1 level measuring spoon per cup).
6 Fold the lid of the filter holder closed.
7 Press the On/Off button ('ON/OFF'). The 'RUN' indicator light will be lit. The

coffee will now be made. The hotplate will keep the coffee warm.

8 Remove the glass jug from the hotplate to pour a cup of coffee. The appliance has a pause-and-serve function, so that you can remove the jug from the hotplate whilst the coffee is still being made. Replace the jug in time to prevent the filter from overflowing.
9 Turn off the appliance after use by pressing the 'On/Off' button ('ON/OFF') twice. The 'RUN' light will go out. If you forget to turn off the appliance, it will turn off automatically after two hours.

When you press the 'On/Off' button only once, the 'AUTO' light will be lit. For its function, see 'Setting the timer'.
