General Safety Instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing. If you give this device to other people, please also pass on the operating instructions.
- The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not fit for commercial use. Do not use it outdoors. Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately.
- When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
- Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you leave the room you should always turn the device off. Remove the plug from the socket.
- The device and the mains lead have to be checked regularly for signs of damage. If damage is found the device must not be used.
- Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always contact an authorized technician. To avoid the exposure to danger, always have a faulty cable be replaced only by the manufacturer, by our customer service or by a qualified person and with a cable of the same type.
- Use only original spare parts.
- Pay careful attention to the following "Special Safety Instructions".

Special Safety Instructions for this Machine

WARNING:
Do not exceed the MAX mark when filling, otherwise the water may boil over and cause burns!
• The water level must be between the MAX. and MIN. marks!
- Use only cold water when filling.
- Use the appliance only on a level work surface.
• Always ensure that the lid is tightly closed.
- Please do not open the lid when the water is boiling.
- Do not move the device and do not touch it when it is working.
- Only use the kettle with the accompanying base.
- Switch the machine off before removing it from the base.
- The base and exterior of the machine must not become wet.
• After familiarisation and if the operating instructions are complied with, the device may be used
- in kitchens for employees in shops, offices and other commercial fields
- by customers in hotels, motels and other residential facilities.
It is not intended for use in agricultural properties or bed-and-breakfast establishments.
Instructions
Preparation
Before using for the first time, boil fresh water at least three times in the appliance. Use only water without any additives or ingredients.
Mains Lead
Completely unwind the length of mains lead that you require from the bottom section of the base. Please ensure that the mains lead does not become tangled up.
Electrical connection
Check whether the electrical voltage that you intend to use is the same as that of the machine. Details are to be found on the label on the base.
Connected Wattage
The total power consumption of this device can be up to 2400 W. With this connected load a separate supply line protected by a 16 A household circuit breaker is recommended.

CAUTION: OVERLOAD:
- If you use extension leads, these should have a cable cross-section of at least 1.5 ~mm^2 .
- Do not use any multiple sockets, as this device is too powerful.
Switching on/off
Switching on: Move the toggle switch to the "I" position. The indicator light in the switch lights up.
Switching off: Move the toggle switch to the "O" position. The indicator light in the switch goes off.
Use

NOTE: Always use fresh water.
- Place the machine on a flat surface.
- Opening the Lid
- Press the two buttons in the lid at the same time.
- Then pull the lid upwards.
- Then fill in the water (max. 1,7 Litre). You can read the filling level on the water level indicator of the kettle.
- Close the lid until you hear it lock in place.
- Place the kettle flush on the base.
- Only connect the machine to a properly installed 230 V\~, 50 Hz safety socket.
- Switch on the kettle by pressing the switch.
Switching off/Interrupting Operation
There are two ways to stop/interrupt the boiling process:
- The appliance switches off automatically after the water has boiled.
- Move the switch to the "O" position to interrupt or stop the boiling process.

WARNING:
- Do not remove the appliance from the base without switching it off beforehand. The kettle remains switched on for as long as the switch is in the "I" position.
- Always switch the device off before you remove it from the base! Please also ensure that it is switched off when you put it back on the base!

WARNING: DANGER OF SCALDING!
- When pouring the water out, keep the lid closed.

During operation the housing becomes hot. Do not touch it and allow the device to cool down before storing it away.

Remove the mains plug.

Mains Cable Take-up Device
The mains cable can be wound up on the base.
Cleaning

WARNING:
• Always turn the device off before cleaning it and remove the mains plug. Wait until the device has cooled down.
- Never immerse the device or the base in water or other liquids.

CAUTION:
- Do not use any wire brush or other abrasive objects.
- Do not use any acidic or abrasive detergents.
- Clean the perforated surface of the spout from the inside with a nylon brush.
- Rinse the water container out with clean water. Then dry it off with a cloth.
- Clean the housing after use with a slightly damp cloth.
Decalcification
- The frequency of the decalcifying operation depends on the hardness of the water and on how often the appliance is used.
- If the machine switches off before the water boils, it probably needs to be decalcified.
- Please do not use vinegar but a commercially available decalcification agent on the basis of citric acid. Only use the quantities stated in the instructions.

NOTE:
After descaling the device boil fresh water in it several times (approximately 3-4 times) in order to remove any residues. Do not consume this water.
Troubleshooting
- It is not possible to switch the machine on.
Possible Cause:
After being used without or with too little water the machine has not cooled down sufficiently.
Remedy:
Allow the machine to cool down for 15 min.
- The machine switches off before the water has boiled.
Possible Cause:
The heated base is coated with too much lime or the circuit of the plug is overloaded.
Remedy:
Descale the machine as instructed. Check the mains connection.
• The machine does not switch off.
Possible Cause:
The lid is not closed.
Remedy:
Close the lid until you hear it lock in place.
- The device switches itself back on when placed on the base.
Possible Cause:
The switch is turned on.
Remedy:
Move the toggle switch to the "O" position.
