How to use the JATA CA704 coffee machine for the first time?

Before first use, wash the filters, measuring spoon, water tank and steam wand with soapy water. Rinse well. Then fill the water tank and run the machine without coffee several times to clean the inside.

How to adjust the amount of coffee served?

To adjust the quantity, press and hold the 1 cup or 2 cups button for 3 seconds. The light flashes and coffee flows. Press the same button again to stop. The machine memorizes the quantity. To return to factory settings, press both buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.

How to use the steam function?

Turn the steam control to the steam position (W) and wait until the light becomes steady. Immerse the steam wand in the liquid, then turn the control to the steam position (①). Steam comes out. When the liquid is hot, turn the control back to OFF (-).

Why isn't coffee coming out?

Check that the filter holder is properly in place (handle perpendicular to the closure). Make sure the water tank is filled and the machine is on. If the problem persists, descaling may be necessary.

How to descale the machine?

Pour an equal mixture of water and white vinegar into the tank. Plug in the machine without coffee and run all the solution. Then run two full cycles with clean water.

How to clean the steam wand if it is clogged?

Use the provided needle (part 16) to unclog the steam outlet hole. Insert it gently and remove residues.

Can I use the carafe on a stove?

No, never place the carafe on an electric or gas stove, or in a microwave. It could crack.

What to do if the machine turns off by itself?

This is normal: the machine has an auto shut-off after approximately 15 minutes of inactivity. Press the ON/OFF button to turn it back on.

What types of coffee can I use?

Use ground coffee suitable for espresso. One dose corresponds to approximately 7 g of coffee for one cup, and two doses (14 g) for two cups.

How to warm the cups?

INSTRUCTIONS OF USE

BEFORE THE FIRST USE

• Before using the coffee maker for the first time, clean the filters, the spoon, the water tank and the steam with soap and water. Rinse well all the components.
• You also can clean the inner side of the coffee maker, to do it, fill the filter with water and switch it on several times without coffee.

START

• Open the water tank lid (1) and remove the water tank (13). Fill with clean and fresh water till the MAX indication and insert the water tank in its place.
• Plug the coffee maker to the mains and push the on button (7). The pilot light will flash.
• When connecting the coffee maker for the first time, it must be pre-heated. To do it, press the buttons 1 and 2 cups (8 and 9) at the same time during 3 seconds. The coffee maker will start to heat and the indicator light (4) will flash till reaching the correct temperature to make coffee, keeping the light fixed.

COFFEE

• Before making any operation, always be sure that the steam regulator (5) is in off position " -".
• Chose the filter (11 or 12), place it in the filter holder (10) and fill it depending on the coffee quantity you need: - 1 cup of coffee: fill the filter for 1 cup (11) with the spoon filled of ground coffee (7 g).

• 2 cups of coffee: fill the filter for 2 cups (12) with the spoon filled twice of ground coffee (14 g).

• Press the coffee with the back side of the spoon, being sure there is not coffee remains in the edge of the filter holder.

• Insert the filter holder (10) in its place by aligning the handle with the indication, pushing up and turning to the right, to the indication until it is correctly inserted. Make sure that the handle of the filter holder stays in perpendicular position when closing (90^) .
• Place the cup or the cups in the tray (14) under the filter holder and switch on the coffee maker into the mains.
• Press the button for 1 cup (8) to get a cup of coffee with (50 ml) or 2 cups button if you need 2 coffee cups with (100 ml). It will switch on the pilot light (2) and the coffee will start to flow. Once reached the programmed quantity, it will stop. You can press the same button to stop the coffee outlet.
• Once finished, press the off button (7) and unplug the appliance.

ADJUST THE COFFEE VOLUME

• Press the button for 1 cup or 2 cups (8 and 9) during 3 seconds. The indicator light (4) will flash and the coffee will start to flow.
• Press the same button to stop the coffee outlet.
• The coffee maker will memorize that coffee quantity and once pressed the buttons for 1 cup or 2 cups (8 or 9) you will get that programmed quantity of coffee.
  Note:

Maximum adjustable volume is 200 ml.
- Minimum adjustable volume is 30ml

• To adjust again the original quantity, press the buttons 1 and 2 at the same time during 3 seconds. The pilot light (4) will flash and the adjustable volume will change once the pilot light stops flashing.

WARMING CUPS

• Place the cups upside down in the warming plate (3). When the coffee maker is hot, the plate with heat the cups. The heated cups help to create and keep a frothy coffee.

ATTENTION

The coffee maker will switch off automatically after around 15 minutes from its operation, to comply with Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament.

STEAM

• This coffee maker is provided with a steamer (6) to heat milk or other liquids.
• Turn the steam regulator (5) to the "U" position, doing that the coffee maker will reach the correct temperature to create steam. The pilot light (4) will start to flash, when it is already fixed, the coffee maker will have reached the temperature and it is ready to generate steam.
• Pour the liquid to be heated into a jar or another container and insert the steamer into it. Turn the steam regulator (5) into the steam position (山) . The steam will start to go out and the pilot light (4) will be flashing at the same time.
• Once the liquid is hot, turn the steam regulator (5) to the off position n - n , the steam will stop and the indicator will be fixed.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

• Before you proceed to cleaning make sure the coffee maker is unplugged from the mains.
• Remove the tray to clean it.
• Clean the coffee maker body with a slightly damp cloth.
• Do not use abrasive or chemical products, metallic scourers, etc. which may deteriorate the surfaces of the appliance.

• Once a month, depending on the use that is given to the coffee maker, it is convenient to proceed with the cleaning of the deposit to eliminate the calcareous remains that the water can leave. It is convenient to treat them as follows:

• Pour a 50% white vinegar solution into the tank and wait for 15 minutes.

• Plug in the coffee maker without coffee in the filter and allow all the solution to flow out.

• Next, make the coffee maker work only with water a couple of times.

• Cleaning the steamer: in case of obstruction use the included needle (16) to clean the steam hole.
