How to start the engine when cold?
Turn on the ignition, make sure the motorcycle is in neutral, then press the electric starter button without using the throttle. The cold start system automatically adjusts the injection. If the engine is flooded, fully open the throttle and start.
What is the break-in procedure?
During the first hour or 100 km, ride at low RPM. Alternate periods of moderate riding and complete cooling. Never accelerate fully. After break-in, replace the spark plug with a new standard type.
How to check the engine oil level?
Run the engine for 3 minutes in neutral, turn it off, wait 3 minutes, then remove the dipstick. Wipe it, reinsert it without screwing, then remove it: the level should be between the L and F marks. Add 5W40 oil if necessary.
What are the basic suspension settings?
For the front fork, rebound and compression damping are adjusted by screws (18 positions). The standard position is 12 clicks from fully closed for rebound, 6 clicks for compression. For the rear shock, rebound is adjusted with 25 clicks, compression with 30 clicks from fully closed position.
How to maintain the drive chain?
Check the tension: the distance between the chain and the swingarm should be 30 to 50 mm. Clean and lubricate the chain after every wet ride or every 30 h. Use a viscous oil. Replace the chain if it has stretched more than 2%.
What type of brake fluid to use?
Use DOT 3 or DOT 4. Check the level in the front and rear reservoirs: they should be filled more than half. Change the fluid every 2 years or if contaminated by water.
When to replace the spark plug?
Inspect the spark plug every 30 h, replace it every 60 h. The electrode gap should be 0.7 to 0.8 mm. If the ceramic is white, use a colder plug; if black, use a hotter plug.
How to bleed the cooling system?
After filling the radiator, start the engine and let it warm up. Open the radiator cap (engine cold) to bleed the air. Top up the level to the edge of the filler neck. Use a mixture of 50% antifreeze, 50% distilled water.
What to do if the battery is discharged?
Recharge it with a constant voltage charger 14.4-14.7 V for 6 to 24 h, or constant current 0.1 C for 5-8 h. Never exceed 24 h. If the voltage is below 12.6 V, recharge before use.
What to do if the engine does not start?
First check the starter relay fuse (on the right side, under the cover). Check the battery. If the engine turns but does not start, check the fuel supply, spark plug (wet or fouled), and ECU connections. In case of a flooded engine, operate the starter at full throttle for 5 seconds.
