Is the R1 torch really waterproof?

Yes, the R1 is designed for diving and supports a maximum depth of 100 meters. It is equipped with a double O-ring on the lens and an anodized aluminum alloy body.

Which batteries should be used with the R1?

Use 3 AAA (LR03) alkaline batteries of 1.5 V or rechargeable 1.2 V. Respect the indicated polarity and choose high-quality batteries.

How to insert the batteries correctly?

Unscrew the tightening ring, insert the batteries respecting polarity, lubricate the O-ring, screw the ring back on and test the switch. Reversed polarity can cause a short circuit.

Why not point the beam at the eyes?

The beam is very powerful and can damage eyesight. Never point the light at your eyes or those of others, underwater or in the open air. This is an important safety warning.

What is the battery life of the lamp?

The battery life is approximately 3 hours at maximum light and more than 20 hours at reduced power. It depends on the quality of the batteries used.

Can the torch be used out of water?

The torch is designed mainly for diving. Due to the high temperatures reached by the bulb, it must only be used underwater. Do not leave it on out of water.

How to maintain the torch after a dive?

Rinse it with fresh water, dry the internal parts if water ingress occurs, lubricate the O-ring with silicone grease and check the condition of the seals. Store it without batteries if it is not used for a long time.

What to do in case of water leakage in the torch?

Open the body, remove the batteries, rinse with fresh water, dry thoroughly, remove any rust and test the operation. For significant water ingress, contact a SEAC center.

Can the batteries be replaced with rechargeable ones?

Yes, you can use 1.2 V AAA rechargeable batteries. However, the lighting duration and light power indicated are not guaranteed with this type of battery.

How to transport the torch on an airplane?

Always remove the batteries before taking your torch on an airplane. This avoids any risk of accidental ignition and complies with safety regulations.

WARNING

Before using the R1 product, make sure you have read this manual in their entirety.

ATTENTION! Never point the torch into your eyes or the eyes of other people, either on dry land or during the dive.

ATTENTION! Be sure to remove the batteries when transporting the torch by air.

ATTENTION! Always be sure to check the polarity of the batteries when replacing them.

ATTENTION! Use top quality alkaline manganese batteries.

ATTENTION! Never leave an unused torch closed for a long period with the batteries inserted.

ATTENTION! When the torch is not being used, unscrew the lens ring nut slightly to prevent the nut from becoming stuck in place.

ATTENTION! Dispose of the old battery properly.

• Do not keep the torch switched on out of the water.
• Never direct the beam of light into the eyes, either underwater or on dry land.
• Do not remove the lens ring nut during the dive or when the torch is wet.
• Never hold the torch near sources of extreme heat.
• Always use original spare parts when conducting any regular or supplementary maintenance.
• Batteries are not supplied with the torch. They must be purchased separately.
• Do not use batteries with different charge levels.

The burnt time shown is approximate because it depends on the quality of the batteries used. We recommend using high quality alkaline batteries. 1.2 V rechargeable batteries commonly found on the market can also be used. If rechargeable batteries are used we cannot guarantee the burnt time and light output shown on the technical sheet.

WARNING

Strictly abide by the polarity shown!

INSERTING BATTERIES

• Twist the torch lens ring nut counter-clockwise.
• Insert the batteries making sure to match the polarity (+ or -) shown on the cage.
• Grease the sealing O-ring with a layer of silicone grease.
• Tighten the lens ring nut clockwise.
• Check that the torch switches on using the switch.

WARNING

If the batteries are inserted incorrectly (inverted polarity), a short circuit will be created, causing irreversible damage and a risk that the torch could explode.

PRE-DIVE INSPECTION

• If your R1 torch has not been used recently, check the condition of the batteries by ensuring that it switches on.
• Check that the body is fully closed.
• As soon as you enter the water, check that no bubbles emerge from the body of the torch.

FLOODING

If water gets into the torch, open the body, remove the batteries, and immediately rinse the internal parts in fresh water. Then dry everything with a cloth and a hair dryer using warm air, paying close attention to mechanical parts. Remove any rust that may have formed on the metal parts and conduct an operations test.

If a significant quantity of water has entered the torch and has remained there for a long period, open the torch body and immediately rinse the internal parts in fresh water. In this event we suggest that you immediately contact a competent repair center or contact the closest SEAC shop.

USAGE RESTRICTIONS

• The maximum operating depth is 100 m.
• Because of the high temperatures reached by the bulb, the torch should only and exclusively be used underwater.

MAINTENANCE AND TRANSPORT

It is important to abide by the following instructions:

• Always transport the torch in a bag that will protect it from any blows.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
• After a dive (sea, lake, or pool), always rinse with fresh water and dry.
- Check the condition of the gaskets (O-rings) every time you open the body of the torch.
- Clean and grease the parts involved in opening the torch with silicone grease.
- It is advisable to have your product inspected annually by an authorised SEAC center.

WARRANTY CONDITIONS

SEAC guarantees the product for two years from the time of purchase. SEAC strongly recommends that you keep your sales receipt as evidence of your date of purchase.

The warranty does not include parts subject to normal wear and tear:

- O-ring, batteries.

This warranty does not cover damage resulting from:

• Mechanical blows.
• Use in water with high levels of chlorine or pollution.
• Prolonged exposure to intense sources of heat above 70 °C.

The warranty expires if:

• The equipment is used improperly, failing to comply with the instructions.
• The owner makes changes to or tampers with the product, or has personally conducted repairs, or if these procedures were conducted by unauthorized personnel.

SEAC declines all responsibility for damage caused to the user resulting from improper use of equipment. The same is true of direct or indirect damage of any kind caused to people or things resulting from any periods of disuse of the product or incorrect use of the same.
