How to use the Fellowes C-220i shredder?

Plug in the device and set the disconnect switch to ON (I). Press the ON button to activate. Insert paper straight into the paper entry and release. For a CD, hold it by the edge and insert it into the CD entry. When finished, set to OFF or leave in sleep mode.

What to do in case of paper jam?

The anti-jam system clears jams by preventing overloads and feeding misfed papers. If a jam persists, switch to Reverse mode (I< I) to remove the paper.

How does SafeSense technology work?

The SafeSense technology immediately stops the shredder if your hands are too close to the paper entry. To check its operation, touch the test area; the yellow SafeSense light turns on if everything is normal.

How to oil the Fellowes C-220Ci shredder?

The C-220Ci model features an automatic Auto Oil system. Fill the reservoir with 12 oz of shredder oil (Fellowes #35250). To test, press the Auto and Forward buttons simultaneously. Oil should spray from the nozzles.

What does the 'Low oil' indicator mean?

The Low oil indicator means the oil reservoir needs to be filled. Use Fellowes shredder oil (ref. 35250) and do not exceed 12 oz. Do not overfill.

Why doesn't the shredder start?

Check that the disconnect switch is set to ON (I) and the power cord is plugged in. The shredder will not operate if the door is open or the bin is full (Bin full indicator). Also ensure sleep mode is not active; touch the control panel.

What is the maximum sheet capacity?

The shredder can accept up to 20 sheets per pass (75 g/m² paper). To avoid jams, do not exceed this capacity. Performance may be reduced with thicker paper or high humidity.

How to clean the paper detection sensors?

The sensors are located in the center of the paper entry. If the motor runs without paper, the sensors may be obstructed by dust. Use an automatic cleaning cycle: the shredder advances and reverses for 3 to 6 seconds. Otherwise, gently clean with a dry cloth.

What materials should not be shredded?

Do not insert adhesive labels, continuous paper, transparencies, newspapers, cardboard, large paper clips, plastic-coated materials, folders, X-rays, or unmentioned plastics. Staples and small paper clips are accepted.

What is the warranty for the Fellowes C-220i?

Fellowes offers a limited 3-year warranty on parts and labor, and a lifetime warranty on cutting blades. For maintenance, use recommended Fellowes oils and bags.

WARNING: IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS — Read Before Using!

• Keep away from children and pets. Keep hands away from paper entry. Always set to off or unplug when not in use.
• Keep foreign objects - gloves, jewelry, clothing, hair, etc. away from shredder openings. If object enters top opening, switch to Reverse (I< I) to back out object.
• Never use aerosol products, petroleum based lubricants or other flammable products on or near shredder. Do not use canned air on shredder.

• Do not use if damaged or defective. Do not disassemble shredder. Do not place near or over heat source or water.

• This shredder has a Disconnect Power Switch (I) that must be in the ON (I) position to operate shredder. In case of emergency, move switch to OFF (O) position. This action will stop shredder immediately.

• Avoid touching exposed cutting blades under shredder head.
• Keep finger away from CD hole when shredding.
• Do not put foreign objects in paper entry.
• The grounded socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE AND MISCELLANEOUS TROUBLESHOOTING

• Though paper detection sensors are designed to be maintenance free, the sensors occasionally become blocked by paper dust, causing the motor to run even if there is no paper present. Both sensors are located in the center of the paper entry.
• Self Cleaning Cycle: Shredder periodically cycles in forward and reverse lasting 3-6 seconds
• Empty wastebasket when bin full indicator lights up.
• Shredder won't run if the door is open, or bin needs to be emptied.
• Maintenance is an important part of protecting your investment. Don't forget our oil (35250) and shredder bags (36054).
