2.1. DESCRIPTION
Substrate preparation
- Using stakes and a string, mark out the shape of the surface to be covered with the lawn grid.
- Remove the top layer of soil. For better soil stabilization, the exposed surface can be covered with building fleece or geotextile.
- Fill the area with a well- permeable gravel or gravel mix. The thickness of the layer depends on the intended use of the surface.
The filling should consist of two layers:
- foundation layers applied in the technology of mechanical stabilization or breakstone foundation,
- levelling ballast, sand or sand-gravel bedding thickness up to 0.05 m, grain size D≤4 mm.
PLEASE NOTE: The type and amount of filling should be adapted to the intended use of the area covered with the grid and to the standards applicable in your country.
- Align and compact the prepared substrate mechanically using a rammer and vibrator.
Laying the lawn grid
PLEASE NOTE: The minimum ambient temperature while laying the lawn grid must be 5° C.
- The grid should be arranged starting from the corner of the area to be covered.
- The grid has protruding hinges on one side, which click into another grid on the side not equipped with this connection.

A paved surface can be curbed with a concrete curb, battens or edges.
Top layer
- The lawn grid can be filled with:
• soil and sown grass seeds,
• 4/8 or 8/18 mm aggregate
• humus and grass rolls.
- The height of filling the grid with soil should be approx. 0.5 cm below its upper edge - it protects the grass roots from spreading. If the lawn grid is covered with aggregate, its walls should be covered completely. Top up the aggregate should it consolidate.
