How do I connect my PM0.4cB to a computer?

Connect the speaker to your computer's audio interface using a balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA cable. If the computer has only a headphone jack, use a suitable adapter to connect to the RCA input.

What power supply does the PM0.4cB require?

The speaker uses an AC 100-240 V power supply with a frequency of 50/60 Hz. Connect the included IEC power cable to a wall outlet.

Why is there a hum when my speaker is on?

Hum is often caused by a ground loop. Ensure all connected audio devices are plugged into the same power outlet or use a ground lift adapter on the audio source. Also check that cables are not running parallel to power cords.

Can I use the PM0.4cB with a subwoofer?

Yes. The speaker can be used as a satellite with a subwoofer. However, there is no direct subwoofer output. Use the volume control to balance the levels.

What is the best placement for the speakers?

Place the speakers at ear level and form an equilateral triangle with your listening position. Keep them away from walls to reduce bass buildup. Use the rear bass port distance to adjust low-frequency response.

How do I clean the speaker cabinet?

Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the cabinet and grille. Avoid water or cleaning agents. Do not spray liquids directly onto the speaker; instead, dampen the cloth slightly.

Does the speaker have any LED indicators?

Yes, a power LED on the front panel lights up when the speaker is on. The LED may change color or blink to indicate thermal protection mode.

Can I mount the PM0.4cB on a wall?

Yes, the cabinet has mounting points for optional wall brackets. Ensure the bracket supports at least 3.5 kg. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for safe installation.

How do I adjust the bass and treble?

The PM0.4cB has no physical bass/treble controls. Instead, use the room EQ on your mixer or audio interface. The rear panel may include trim switches for low-frequency adjustment.

What should I do if one speaker is not producing sound?

Check the audio cable connection to that speaker. Swap the left and right inputs to verify if the speaker itself is faulty. Ensure the volume knob is turned up and the power switch is on.

Thank you very much for purchasing a Fostex product. This manual provides instructions for basic use of the unit. Read this before using the unit for the first time.

■ WARNINGS and PRECAUTIONS

• CAUTION: Use of any controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those herein specified may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
• WARNING: Changes or modifications to this unit not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
• WARNING: Do not place the unit on top of any soft, porous, or sensitive surfaces to avoid damaging the surface. Use a protective barrier between the unit and surface to protect the surface.
• WARNING: Use of this unit near fluorescent lighting may cause interference regarding use of the remote. If the unit is displaying erratic behavior move away from any fluorescent lighting, as it may be the cause.

Parts names and functions

Active speaker (R channel)

Equipped with stereo power amplifier, plays back right channel of input signal.

Indicates power state.

Blue: normal state

Red: standby state

Unlit: power is off

② [INPUT] (L, R) terminal

Connects to the output of external device.

③ [OUTPUT TO LEFT] terminal

Connects to the [LEFT] terminal of the passive speaker using the supplied speaker cable. Connect (+) and (+), and (−) and (−) of the active speaker and passive speaker. Left channel of signal input from [INPUT] (L, R) terminal is sent to the passive speaker via the internal amplifier.

④ [VOLUME] knob

Adjusts the volume.

⑤ [AUTO STANDBY MODE] switch

Switches the auto standby function ON/OFF. Switch "ON" to enable the function, and switch "OFF" to disable the function.

Auto standby function

When the auto standby function is ON, the unit automatically goes into standby state and the power indicator lights in red if input to the unit stays below a certain level for approximately 15 minutes. In standby state, the power consumption is reduced to below 0.5 W. The unit will revert to its normal state and the power indicator lights in blue when an input signal is received again.

⑦ [AC IN] terminal

Connects to an outlet using the supplied power cord.

Passive speaker (L channel)

As the unit is not equipped with an amplifier, play back the left channel of the input signal by connecting to the active speaker using the supplied speaker cable.

⑧ [LEFT] terminal

Connects to the [OUTPUT TO LEFT] terminal of the active speaker using the supplied speaker cable.

• Turn off the power of all devices before connecting.
• Do not use a power cord other than the supplied power cord.

Caution

Do not connect a product other than the passive speaker of PM0.4c to the [OUTPUT TO LEFT] terminal of the active speaker. Doing so may cause a malfunction.

The Affect of Immunity on This Equipment

The affect of the European Specification EN61000-6-1 (coexistence of electromagnetic waves - common immunity specification) on this equipment are as shown below.

In the electrical fast transient/burst requirements, surge, conducted disturbances by radio-frequency fields, power frequency magnetic field, radiate electromagnetic field requirements and static electricity discharging environment, this could be affected by generation of noise in some cases.
