CAMERA FEATURES
Triple format selection
- You can take three different size pictures: Classic (C), Group/HDTV (H), and Panoramic (P) pictures from the same film cassette. The masking inside the viewfinder changes to match each format selection.
Double exposure protection (DEP)
- You don't need to worry about accidentally re-exposing your film. Your camera reads the Film Status Indicator (FSI) on the film cassette to prevent double exposures.
Pop-up flash
- The extension of the flash helps to reduce red eyes in flash pictures and hand obstruction in front of the picture-taking lens.
Flash-recycle time
- Long life and quick flash recharge times with lithium battery.
Easy, drop-in loading
- Easy, drop-in loading is fast and virtually error-free. The camera uses KODAK ADVANTIX Film. The film cassette communicates the status of film and becomes the carrier and storage container for the processed film.

Look for this logo to be certain that the film you buy is made for this camera.
Look for this logo to select a certified photofinisher for developing your film and to assure that you get all the features of the Advanced Photo System.
Film Status Indicator (FSI)
- A highlighted indicator advances from one symbol to another to identify the status of the film inside the cassette.

LOADING THE BATTERY
This camera uses one 3 V lithium KODAK KCR2 (or equivalent) Battery that supplies power for all camera operations.
- Open the BATTERY DOOR (16).

-
Before you remove the old battery, close the lens cover.
-
Place the battery over the battery-pull strap and insert into the chamber as shown.

- Snap the battery door closed.
NOTE: Insert the battery into the camera before you load the film.
Low-battery indicator
It's time to replace the battery when the BATTERY SYMBOL (21) appears on the LCD PANEL (4) or when the FLASH-READY LAMP (14) takes longer than 15 seconds to turn on.

Battery tips
- Dispose of batteries according to local regulations.
- Remember to keep spare batteries with you at all times.
- Read and follow all warnings and instructions supplied by the battery manufacturer.
- Keep batteries away from children.
- Do not try to take apart, recharge or short circuit the battery, or subject it to high temperature or fire.
- Store batteries in their original packaging prior to use.

Automatic Energy Saving Features
Power shutdown
To reduce battery power, the camera will automatically go into a sleep mode if it is not operated for more than 4 minutes. You can awaken the camera by taking a picture or by closing and reopening the LENS COVER (9). When the camera will not be used for an extended length of time, turn the camera completely off to further conserve the battery power.
LOADING THE FILM
You can load film into the camera with the camera ON or OFF. Insert the battery into the camera before you load the film.
- Move the FILM-DOOR LEVER (11) to open the FILM DOOR (18).

-
The film door will open only when the film chamber is empty or the film in the camera is completely rewound into the film cassette.
-
Insert the film cassette completely into the FILM CHAMBER (17).

Make sure the Film Status Indicator (FSI) on the film cassette is at (#1 position) for a new cassette.
- Do not force the film cassette into the film chamber.
- Close the film door to start the auto-film prewind. The PICTURE COUNTER (20) on the LCD PANEL (4) will display the number of exposures remaining on the film.
After you close the safetyinterlocked film door and the films starts to prewind, you cannot open the door until the film is completely rewound into the film cassette.
TAKING PICTURES

- Slide the LENS COVER SWITCH (9) to uncover the LENS (8), to activate and raise the FLASH (7), and to turn on the camera.

- Move the FORMAT-SELECTOR SWITCH (12) to select C, H, or P format. The viewfinder will change to show the selected field of view.

- Frame your subject within the VIEWFINDER EYEPiece (13). For a sharp picture, stand at least 3.3 ft (1.0m) from your subject.
-
For low-light conditions, wait for the FLASH-READY LAMP (14) to turn green.
-
Press the SHUTTER BUTTON (1) to take the picture.

Tips for better pictures
- Hold your camera steady by keeping your elbows close to your body when you press the shutter button to avoid blurry pictures.
- Keep your pictures simple. Move close enough to your subject so it fills the viewfinder but not closer than 3.3 ft (1.0 m).
- Take pictures at the subject's level. Kneel down to take pictures of children and pets.
-
Hold your camera vertically to capture tall, narrow subjects, such as a waterfall, skyscraper, or a single person.
-
Add interest to your picture by framing it with a tree branch, a window, or even the rails of a fence.
- Keep the sun behind you. This provides the best subject illumination.
- Stand at an angle to shiny surfaces like windows or mirrors to avoid flash reflection and bright spots in your pictures.
- Turn on all the room lights and have your subject look at the lights. This will help to reduce red eyes in flash pictures.
TAKING FLASH PICTURES
In dim light, such as indoors or outdoors in heavy shade, or on dark overcast days, you need flash. Your camera features an automatic pop-up flash that fires when you need it. The pop-up flash helps to minimize red eyes in flash pictures (see Tips for better pictures).
- Slide the LENS COVER SWITCH (9) to uncover the LENS (8), to activate and raise the FLASH (7), and to turn on the camera.
-
Frame your subject within the VIEWFINDER EYEPIECE (13).
-
Wait for the FLASH-READY LAMP (14) to turn green.

- Press the SHUTTER BUTTON (1) to take a picture.
- Keep the subject within the distance range for the speed of film in your camera (see Flash-to-subject distance). Don't take pictures beyond the maximum distance or your pictures will be dark.
Flash-to-subject distance
| ISO film speed | Flash-to-subject distance |
| 100 | 3.3 to 10 ft (1.0 to 3.1 m) |
| 200 | 3.3 to 13 ft (1.0 to 4.0 m) |
| 400 | 3.3 to 18 ft (1.0 to 5.5 m) |
USING THE SELF-TIMER

Use this feature to include yourself in pictures.
- Slide the LENS COVER SWITCH (9) to uncover the LENS (8), to activate and raise the FLASH (7), and to turn on the camera.
- Press the SELF-TIMER BUTTON (3).

The SELF-TIMER INDICATOR (19) appears on the LCD PANEL (4).
-
Frame your subject within the VIEWFINDER EYEPiece (13).
-
Press the SHUTTER BUTTON (1). The SELF-TIMER LAMP (5) on the front of the camera glows and then blinks during the last two seconds of countdown.
-
To cancel the self-timer selection before the shutter releases, close the lens cover.
- The self-timer automatically turns off after the shutter releases.
UNLOADING THE FILM
Automatic rewind
The camera automatically rewrites the film into the cassette after the last exposure.
