It will help you achieve your objectives of well-being thanks to the simple indicators related to your weight. Its extra-large screen with coloured indicator will allow instant readings and interpretation of your progress.

WEIGHT AND WELL-BEING In a society where the rhythm of life is constantly increasing, where stress is taking an ever-greater role and where the image of oneself is gaining increasing importance, feeling good has become a priority.

On this route to well-being, weight is the first piece of information to take into account for our health: excess weight often goes hand-in-hand with physical effort that is more difficult to achieve. The body recovers more slowly while at the same time the excess weight quickly becomes a handicap in everyday life. While if underweight, the body risks being unable to find sufficient energy to function at full capacity. It tires more quickly and does not recharge its batteries at the same rate. In both cases, the consequences of this lack of energy are felt psychologically, directly influencing the morale. BaByliss, thanks to its technological know-how, offers an answer appropriate to the need to monitor one’s weight with the Monitoring electronic scale. This unit is equipped with different tools that will help you interpret your weight and make follow-up easy.

- The difference in weight in relation to the previous weighing

The first indicator of your weight is simply its evolution over time. Without any effort to remember, your scale automatically calculates the gain in or loss of weight since the last time you weighed yourself and an indicator light shows you the extent of this change. - The Body Mass Index (BMI) The BMI is a coefficient used by nutritionists that involves weight and height. It places individuals in weight categories recognised by the scientific community. Its measurement complements that of weight.

USE This scale has 2 different modes of use:

• “Guest” mode: Use this mode if you only want to check your weight. • “User” mode: This mode is the best ally to your figure. In this mode, each user has his or her own session. The scale uses personal data saved in the memory to calculate your body mass index and your change in weight compared to the previous weighing. Caution: it is important to read all the instructions before using the scale for the first time. Instructions for use: To obtain the most reliable results possible, make sure: • you always place your feet in the same position on the scale, • you weigh yourself without clothes and in bare feet, • you don’t move while your weight is being calculated, • you don’t weigh yourself too often. It is recommended that you limit yourself to once a week and keep the same interval between each session, • you weigh yourself at the same time of day. In fact, in the course of the same day, your weight can change. This is generally the case when you get up, after eating, taking a bath, doing intense physical exercise or taking certain products.

• Place the scale on a hard, level and flat surface • Quickly and firmly tap center of scale platform with foot to activate digital display. • Wait until the screen displays “00.0KG” • The scale is ready to be used • Step onto the scale • “000” will flash • Your weight will be displayed on the screen and will remain displayed for a few seconds • The scale will go out automatically after a few seconds. User mode: • Before the first use, the scale should be programmed by the user (cf. PROGRAMMING section). • Place the scale on a hard, level and flat surface. • Using your foot, press the button corresponding to your user number. • The screen will display your user number and “00.0KG”. • The scale is ready to be used. • Step onto the scale. • “000” will flash on the screen. • Your weight, your BMI, the difference in weight compared to the previous weighing (indicated by “∆ Kg”) and the coloured indicator related to this difference are instantly displayed for a few seconds. Note: When using the scale for the first time, change in weight ( ΔKG) will show «0.0». • Your weight is automatically saved in the memory of the scale. The scale will beep to confirm the information has been saved. • The scale will go out automatically after a few seconds.

INTERPRETING THE DATA: a. Change in weight (∆ Kg)

The scale records your weight after each use. It automatically recalls this information to calculate the change in weight between the current and the previous weighings. This difference is then instantly transcribed into kilograms on the screen and the extent of this change appears in the form of a coloured indicator according to the table below. - 10 -

A weight loss or weight gain that is too great over a relatively short period is synonymous with stress for your body. Regular and moderate loss will respect your body more.

b. Body mass index (BMI)

The body mass index lets you estimate overweight or underweight. Its classification indicates a predispostion to weight-related risks. It is calculated using the following formula: BMI = weight (Kg)/Height2 (m2). For a more detailed interpretation of the BMI, please refer to the following table (also found on the detachable part of the cover):

Important: Don’t focus on a single measurement, but observe the progress over time. Short-term fluctuations are normal. Keep in mind that you know your body best; the tables below are for information only.

These indications should never be used as a substitute for medical opinion! If you are in any way concerned about your health, consult your doctor.

PROGRAMMING You can program the Monitoring scale very easily and very quickly. All you need to do is enter your height into the unit’s memory and that’s it! For every future use, the scale will automatically recall this information to calculate your body mass index.

Note: This unit records data for 2 users. Caution: Every time you reprogram the user memory (no. 1 or no. 2), you replace the previously saved data. • When the scale is off, press the button that corresponds to the number of the user you wish to program and hold for a few seconds. User 1 presses button ‘1’ while user 2 presses button ‘2’. You will hear a ‘beep’ which indicates that you are in ‘Programming’ mode. • The number ‘1’ will be displayed on the screen. It shows you that you are in the session for user 1. The default setting of 160cm (or the previously saved value) will also appear for the height and will flash. • Press on the up and down (‘1’ or ‘2’) buttons to select your height. The numbers will scroll quickly if you hold the button down. Once your height appears on the screen, release the button for 3 seconds. Your height is now saved. An audible beep confirms this. • The scale shows your user number and displays ‘00.0 Kg’. It is ready to use. Note: The scale turns itself off automatically You have finished entering your personal data.

ERROR MESSAGES The scale does not display your weight:

• The minimum measurable weight is 11 Kg. The ‘err’ message may appear on your screen if: • your weight exceeds the maximum measurable weight 180Kg • the difference in your weight since your last weighing exceeds 9.9 Kg • you stepped onto the scale before ’00.0’ appeared. - 12 -

The ‘lo’ message indicating a weak battery may appear on the screen if:

• the battery is nearly empty. In this case, replace it immediately.

REPLACING THE BATTERY Your scale comes with a CR2032 3V lithium coin cell battery

To replace the battery: • When the battery is empty, it should be discarded at a recycling centre for the safety of the environment. If the battery is leaking, avoid touching it and discard it at a recycling centre. • Insert a new battery of the same type. Place the battery with the side marked with ‘+’ facing up.
