  • Do not overload the shelves, door racks or put too much food in the drawers to avoid items falling and causing injury or damage to the fridge freezer.
  • Do not overload the product to prevent insufficient air circulation.

Elvita CKD6910X - WARNING! - 1

CAUTION!

• Always follow food storage times and expiration dates suggested by manufacturers. - Opening the door for long periods can cause a significant increase of the temperature in the compartments. - Store raw meat and fish in suitable containers in the fridge, so that it is not in contact with or drip onto other food. - Do not put liquid oils or oil-cooked meals in your fridge in unsealed containers. They damage the plastic surfaces of the product. Clean and rinse any spilled oil with warm water at once.

Elvita CKD6910X - CAUTION! - 1

CAUTION!

Do not close the door while any shelves are extended or drawers are open. It may damage the shelves, drawers and door.

Elvita CKD6910X - CAUTION! - 1

NOTE!

To avoid wasting energy:

  • Do not store warm food or evaporating liquid in the fridge freezer. Placing hot food directly into the fridge or freezer causes the internal temperature to rise resulting in the compressor having to work harder and therefore consume more energy. Warm food and beverages must cool down to room temperature before storing them.
  • Do not keep the doors open for longer periods.

Use the following tips and recommendations when storing food in the fridge.

When refrigerating fresh food:

  • Cover or wrap the food, particularly if it has a strong flavour.
  • Place the food so that air can circulate freely around it.
  • During a power outage, foods can be kept for several hours. Do not open the door during a power outage, and do not put any more fresh food into the fridge.

Other refrigerating recommendations:

Food Recommendation
Meat (all types) Wrap in polythene and place on the glass shelf above the drawer for fruit and vegetables
Cooked food, cold dishes etc. Cover and place on any shelf
Fruit and vegetables Store in the drawer for fruit and vegetables
Butter and cheese Wrap in airtight foil or plastic film wrap
Milk bottles, other bottled drinks, and canned liquids Ensure bottles have a lid and store in the door racks
Eggs and packed foods Store in the door racks, put eggs in the egg holder

Elvita CKD6910X - NOTE! - 1

NOTE!

This product is most energy efficient with all shelves and drawers in their original position. However, the shelves can be removed for cleaning or placed at different heights to get more space in the fridge. See section "Clean the fridge freezer", page 22.

Store food in the freezer

Elvita CKD6910X - Store food in the freezer - 1

WARNING!

  • Do not place food or containers in the freezer compartment with wet hands when the fridge freezer is running, especially metal containers, to avoid the risk of skin abrasions and ice burns.
  • Do not consume frozen food, such as ice popsicles and ice cubes, straight from the freezer. This may cause ice burns.
  • Do not overload the product to prevent insufficient air circulation.

Elvita CKD6910X - WARNING! - 1

CAUTION!

• Always follow food storage times and use by dates suggested by manufacturers. - Opening the door for long periods can cause a significant increase of the temperature in the compartments. - Store raw meat and fish in suitable containers in the freezer, so that it is not in contact with or drip onto other food. - Do not place carbonated or fizzy drinks in the freezer compartment as it creates pressure in the container, which may cause it to explode and damage the product. - Make sure that bottles are not left in the freezer for longer than needed. Freezing may cause the bottles to break.

Elvita CKD6910X - CAUTION! - 1

CAUTION!

Do not close the door while any drawers are open. It may damage the drawers and the door.

Elvita CKD6910X - CAUTION! - 1

NOTE!

To avoid wasting energy, do not store warm food or evaporating liquid in the fridge freezer. Placing hot food directly into the fridge or freezer causes the internal temperature to rise, resulting in the compressor having to work harder and therefore consume more energy. Warm food and beverages must cool down to room temperature before storing them.

Use the following tips and recommendations when storing food in the freezer.

  • Prepare food in small portions to enable it to be rapidly and completely frozen and in turn make it possible to thaw only the quantity required. Once defrosted, food will deteriorate rapidly and should not be frozen again.
  • When food freezes too slowly, it can lose quality or go bad.
  • Wrap up the food in aluminium foil or polyethylene food wraps which are airtight. Wipe containers dry before placing them in the freezer.
  • Label and date each frozen package in order to keep track of the storage time. Remove as many items as needed at one time.
  • Do not allow fresh unfrozen food to touch the food which is already frozen to avoid temperature rise of the latter.
  • Ensure that frozen food has been stored correctly by the food retailer.
  • Put packages in the freezer as quickly as possible after purchase.
  • During power outage, foods in the freezer can be kept for several hours. Do not open the door during power outage, and do not put any more fresh food into the freezer. In case the failure lasts longer, the food must be checked and, if necessary, consumed immediately or frozen after being cooked.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Clean the fridge freezer

Clean the exterior of the fridge freezer every two months and the interior every 15 days to prevent odours. Regularly check and clean the door seals to remove any debris. Sticky food or drinks can cause the seals to stick to the cabinet and potentially tear when opening the door. Cleaning is easier when food stocks are low.

Elvita CKD6910X - Clean the fridge freezer - 1

WARNING!

Before cleaning or maintenance of this product, read the safety information and the full instructions.

Elvita CKD6910X - WARNING! - 1

WARNING!

  • Always switch off the product and unplug it from the mains socket before cleaning. Alternatively, switch off the circuit breaker or remove the fuse. Failure to do so may result in electric shock.
  • Do not use cleaning agents or water that contain chlorine to clean the outer surfaces and chromium-coated parts of the product. Chlorine causes corrosion on such metal surfaces.
  • Do not use metal objects, sharp objects, steam cleaner, thinner, car detergent, Clorox, ethereal oils (e.g. lemon juice or orange peel juice), abrasive cleansers, or organic solvents (e.g. benzene, butyric acid, or cleansers containing acetic acid) for cleaning. These substances may damage plastic parts, harm the surface of the product, and may cause fire.
  • Never clean the product with a steam cleaner. Moisture can accumulate in electrical components, posing a risk of electric shock. Hot vapours may also damage plastic parts.
  • Do not use vapor or vaporized cleaning materials. Vapour may come into contact with electrical parts and cause a short circuit or electric shock.
  • Do not spray water directly on the product.
  • Ensure the product is completely dry before plugging it back into the mains socket.

Elvita CKD6910X - WARNING! - 1

CAUTION!

  • Regularly clean surfaces that can come in contact with food and accessible drainage systems.
  • Regularly clean the water drain hole with a drain hole cleaning tool. Be careful not to cause any damage to the cabinet with sharp objects.
  • Do not use cleaning products (such as soap, detergent, scrub powder, spray cleaner, etc.) to clean the interior. They may cause odour and may contaminate food.
  • Do not put liquid oils or oil-cooked meals in your fridge in unsealed containers. They damage the plastic surfaces of the product. Clean and rinse any spilled oil with warm water at once.
