Why is there no sound coming from the built-in speaker of the PURE EVOKE F3 and only from the auxiliary output?
Frequently Asked Questions - 20/01/2026
Response Notice-Facile

Your PURE EVOKE F3 has a 3.5 mm line output (Line Out) designed to connect to an external amplifier or Hi-Fi system. When a cable is plugged into this line output, the device automatically switches the audio output to this connector and disables the internal speaker (3.5 inches, 5W). This is normal behavior that protects the connectors and optimizes the use of the external amplifier.

To get sound back on the built-in speaker, the solution is simple: completely unplug the cable from the line output (Line Out). Also, make sure you are not confusing the connectors - the PURE EVOKE F3 has two mini-jack input/output ports:

  • Auxiliary input (Aux In): for connecting an iPod, MP3 player, or other external device
  • Line output (Line Out): for connecting an amplifier or Hi-Fi system

If the cable was not plugged in and sound is only coming from the line output, try completely turning off the device (press the Standby button), wait 10 seconds, and then turn it back on. This resets the audio output detection. If the problem persists after this reset, it is possible that a technical fault is affecting the automatic detection of outputs and technical intervention will be necessary.

Note that the PURE EVOKE F3 automatically adjusts its audio output based on the detected connections - this is a safety feature to prevent electrical overloads and material damage. The speaker does not reactivate as long as no cable is plugged into the line output.

How to solve a volume issue that is not working on the PURE EVOKE F3 radio?
Frequently Asked Questions - 20/01/2026
Response Notice-Facile

If the volume of your PURE EVOKE F3 radio is not working, start by checking that the Mute button is not activated. This button completely cuts off the sound and may have been pressed accidentally. If you see a crossed-out speaker icon on the screen, press the Mute button to reactivate the sound.

Next, check the Volume/Select knob on your EVOKE F3. This knob controls the sound level. Turn it clockwise to increase the volume and counterclockwise to decrease it. If the knob is at the minimum, that is why you cannot hear anything. Also, make sure that this knob is not damaged or stuck by turning it gently and regularly.

Completely turn off your radio by pressing the Standby button, wait 10 to 15 seconds, then turn it back on. This simple reset often resolves temporary software issues affecting the volume. During this restart, check that the built-in speaker is not obstructed by dust or debris.

If you have the Pure Select app (available on iOS and Android), download it and connect your EVOKE F3 via Bluetooth. This will allow you to control the volume directly from your smartphone via the "Now Playing" tab. This can help identify if the problem comes from the physical controls of the device or the audio system itself.

Test different sources to isolate the problem. If the volume only works on one source (FM, DAB+, Bluetooth, or auxiliary), the problem may be limited to that source. Change the station or source to check. If you are using an auxiliary connection, unplug the cable to see if that restores the functioning of the internal speaker.

If the volume remains stuck or very low despite these checks, the problem may be hardware-related (faulty amplifier, damaged speaker, or electronic issue). Consult Pure's technical support at http://support-uk.pure.com or contact an authorized dealer. The EVOKE F3 comes with a 3-year warranty that may cover these failures.

Respond (be the first)
Why is there no sound in Internet radio, FM, or DAB mode on the PURE EVOKE F3 while it works in Bluetooth mode?
Frequently Asked Questions - 20/01/2026
Response Notice-Facile

If your PURE EVOKE F3 produces sound in Bluetooth but not in Internet radio, FM, or DAB mode, the most common cause is that an audio cable is connected to the mini-jack (line out) output at the back of the device. When a cable is plugged in, the internal speaker automatically disables to send the signal only to that external output. Check that no cable is coming out of this socket and remove it if so to reactivate the speaker.

The second point to check is the volume, as each radio source (DAB, FM, Internet) has its own independent volume level. The volume may be set very low or to minimum for radio sources while it is normal for Bluetooth. Press the Source button to switch to a radio source (DAB, FM, or Internet radio), then adjust the volume with the Select rotary knob. Also, ensure that the mute button is not activated for radio sources - it displays a crossed-out speaker on the screen if it is active.

For FM and DAB radios, the wire antenna must be fully extended and properly connected. A partially retracted or poorly inserted antenna would hinder signal reception, which would explain the lack of sound even if the radio seems to be working. Pull the antenna completely up and check that it is securely attached.

If you are using Internet radio, ensure that your PURE EVOKE F3 is connected to your WiFi network with a good connection. Internet radio requires a stable Internet connection to function properly. Go to the network settings to check the WiFi connection if you hear no sound when selecting an Internet radio station.

Then try completely turning off the device using the Standby button, wait 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. This action resets temporary settings and may resolve sound issues that occur after prolonged use or a quick change of source.

If after these checks the sound still does not return in radio mode while it still works in Bluetooth, there may be a specific hardware issue with the audio circuits of the radio sources. In this case, contact PURE customer service for a technical assessment of the product.

PURE EVOKE F3 - Safety information - 1

We do not recommend listening to your radio with headphones or ear phones via the 3.5mm Line Out socket. If you decide to use headphones or earphones, the excessive sound pressure or volume may damage your hearing. Always adjust the volume to a level that is pleasant and not too loud. If the volume of your radio is too high when listening via your headphones or earphones for an extended period it can damage your hearing.
