Brief description
SKM 1030 and SKM 1032 are radiomicrophones for use with wireless transmission systems.
They are suitable for a wide range of applications. The SKM 1030 is chiefly used in radio tour-guide systems, the SKM 1032 is often employed in theaters or as a musician's microphone. Both transmitters can be hand-held or worn around the neck with the SZU 1032 Lavaier clip (available as an accessory). Further useful accessories are the BA 1032 fast charging accupacks and the corresponding L 1032 charger.
Special characteristics
high reliability and long operating time in rechargeable battery operation, too
easy handling and operation
- channel selection
- optional use of the quick charge high-capacity rechargeable battery BA 1032
- clickless ON/OFF switch for the microphone signal

Models
SKM 1032-0
wireless microphone; FM-wideband; 8m-band; Transmitter output power ≤ 30mW switchable to 3 frequencies: 36.7MHz 37.1MHz 37.9MHz Sennheiser noise suppression system HiDynplusTM.
SKM 1032 VHF
wireless microphone; FM-wideband; VHF-range
Transmitter output power ≤ 50mW frequency range: 138-145 MHz or 170-260 MHz; switchable to 6 frequencies
Sennheiser noise suppression system HiDynplusTM
SKM 1030-6
wireless microphone; FM-narrowband; 8m-band; max. radiated power 5mW ; switchable to 6 frequencies; preferred frequencies between 36.64 and 37.98 MHz; clickless ON/OFF switch for the microphone signal.
SKM 1030-7
wireless microphone, identical to the SKM 1030-6. higher radiated power: 10mW
SKM 1030-7 BU
wireless microphone, identical to the SKM 1030-7. Transmitter output power ≤ 100mW Music and speech information can be broken in via an additional integrated 2.5mm TB-socket.
HINT
Apart from these standard models wireless microphones of the SKM 1030 line and of the SKM 1032 line are also available for the operation at special frequencies. These transmitters are marked by the additional designation ...SF.

How to insert the battery
Insert the battery as demonstrated in the figure.
Pay attention to the polarity!
Use only alkali-manganese-batteries!
If not the given operating time (see technical data) will drastically be reduced.
For regular operation use quick charge rechargeable batteries BA 1032 instead of batteries.
Rechargeable battery BA 1032, charge with the battery charger L 1032
The rechargeable batteries BA 1032 are recharged with the battery charger L 1032 and an appropriate plug transformer NT 1032. One rechargeable battery can remain in the microphone during the recharge, a second one can be recharged in the appropriate battery compartment of the battery charger. L 1032 and NT 1032 are supplied as accessories.
The battery charger L 1032 and the SKM 1030 / SKM 1032 are connected via the charging-contact (see figure on next page).
Please take care that these contacts are clean, i.e.metallic-bright.

How to adjust the transmitter frequency
Adjust the desired transmitter frequency with the switch ⑤. Each number on the switch corresponds to a transmitter frequency. You will find the exact frequency on the type plate in the battery compartment.
Take care that the transmitter frequency and the received frequency selected at the receiver do correspond.
A small screw driver (breadth approx. 2mm ) or the end of the wire antenna which is shaped like a small blade is suitable tools for the selection.
How to switch on / how to select sensitivity
The ON/OFF-switch 6 and the selector switch 7 are positioned in a cavity on the bottom of the housing.
The ON/OFF-switch which is used more frequently is positioned slightly above the selector switch.
After having switched on the transmitter you must wait approx. 2 seconds as the transmitter requires this time for adjusting to the chosen frequency. (PLL-rest.).
The AF signal is attenuated if the selector switch for the sensitivity ⑦ is switched to "LOW". Close-miking can thereby not result in overmodulation.
Attenuation for SKM 1030: approx. 14 dB
Attenuation for SKM 1032: approx. 20 dB

Muting the microphone
With switch ⑧ you can mute the microphone of the hand-held transmitter without switching off the transmitter itself. This avoids hissing noise in the receiver. The "ON" and "OFF" positions are clearly marked on the switch.

Switch ⑧ can be locked in the ON position to avoid accidental switching (note the position of the screw head):

Replacing the Antenna
The antenna of the SKM 1030 / SKM 1032 hand-held transmitter can easily be replaced. It is simply screwed to socket 9.
In exceptional cases the transmitter can also be operated without the antenna. Parts of the electronic circuit and the battery then act as an antenna. However, the transmitter's range is greatly reduced.
The SKM 1030 VHF works with an integral antenna, there is no socket for an external antenna.
Cleaning the Sound Inlet Basket
For cleaning, unscrew the sound inlet basket. Rinse the foam protection and teh with clear water. Dry both inlet basket and foam protection with a hairdryer.
Place the inlet basket and the foam protection back on the transmitter only if they are completely dry!
Noise Suppression System HiDynplusTM (only for SKM 1032)
The SKM 1032 hand-held transmitter is equipped with the Sennheiser noise reduction system HiDynplus™. Optimum operation of the radiomicrophone requires that the corresponding receiver is also equipped with HiDyn plus™. If that is not the case, the dynamic range is drastically reduced and the transmission sounds muffled.

How to carry / fix the wireless microphone
If the microphone is hand-held the sensitivity should be switched to "LOW". For outdoor recordings and close-miking the windshield MZW 1032 should be placed on the microphone to reduce popnoise and windnoise.
The carrying sling arrangement SZU 1032 is used if the SKM 1030 / SKM 1032 is to be carried before the breast. It is fixed and put on according to the figure. The selector switch for the sensitivity is switched to „HIGH". For guided tours in factories it is not advisable to use the SKM 1030 as a Lavalier microphone, as distance between the mouth and the microphone would be too great. Ambient noise would drown out the spoken information. In addition, the transmitter's output power is considerably reduced if the antenna is close to the body.
Hints for the correction of faults
Fault
No function
Acoustic feedback for SKM 1032
No transmission though transmitter is switched on
Distortions
Cause
flat or weak battery/rechargeable battery wrong polarity of battery/rechargeable battery
receiver may not be equipped with HiDynplus
transmitter frequency may not correspond to the frequency of the receiver
selector switch for the sensitivity may be switched to "HIGH", sensitivity is too high!
