Information about these instructions for use
Congratulations on the purchase of your new appliance.
You have selected a high-quality product. The instructions for use are part of this product. They contain important information about safety, usage and disposal. Before using the product, please familiarise yourself with all instructions regarding safety and use. Use the product only as described and for the specified range of applications. Please also pass on all documents to any future owner.
Intended use
The scale is intended exclusively for weighing food in private households. You can use the collection tray to collect the cut food or conveniently separate the waste. The scale and cutting board with collection tray are not intended for commercial or industrial use.
Warnings and symbols used
The following warnings and symbols are used in these instructions for use, on the packaging and on the appliance (where applicable):
DANGER! A warning with this symbol and the signal word "DANGER" indicates an imminently hazardous situation that will result in death or serious injury if not avoided.
WARNING! A warning with this symbol and the signal word "WARNING" indicates a potentially hazardous situation that could result in death or serious injury if not avoided.

Safety information
⚠ WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
■ Prior to use, check the appliance for visible external damage. Do not use an appliance that has been damaged or dropped.
This appliance may be used by children aged 8 years and above and by persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, provided that they are under supervision or have been told how to use the appliance safely and are aware of the potential risks. Do not allow children to use the appliance as a toy. Cleaning and user maintenance tasks may not be carried out by children unless they are supervised.
■ All repairs to the appliance must be carried out by authorised specialist companies or by the Customer Service department. Improper repairs can pose significant risks to the user. It will also invalidate any warranty claims.
! ATTENTION! MATERIAL DAMAGE!
■ Defective components must always be replaced with original replacement parts. Compliance with safety requirements can only be guaranteed if original replacement parts are used.
■ Do not allow any liquids or moisture to get into the appliance.
■ Do not place anything on the scale when it is not in use.
■ Protect the scale from impacts, moisture, dust, chemicals, extreme temperature fluctuations, and keep it away from heat sources (ovens, radiators).
■ Do not press down on the appliance with excessive force or sharp objects.
■ Never place more than 5,000 grammes on the scale.
■ Do not expose the appliance to high temperatures or strong electromagnetic fields (e.g. mobile phones).
■ When carrying the cutting board, hold it in your hand such that the inserted scale and the collection tray cannot slide out.
■ Due to the design of the cutting board, the entire cutting surface does not rest on the underlying structure. Do not exert excessive pressure when cutting very hard or tough foods.
Safety instructions for handling batteries
⚠ WARNING! Mishandling the batteries can cause fires, explosions, leakages or other hazards!
- Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
■ Make sure that no one can swallow the batteries.
■ If a battery is swallowed, seek medical assistance immediately.
■ Always use the stated battery type.
■ Never try to recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
■ Remove rechargeable batteries from the appliance before recharging them.
Do not throw batteries into a fire or water.
■ Never expose batteries to high temperatures or direct sunlight.
■ Never open or deform batteries.
■ Do not short-circuit the terminals.
■ Remove depleted batteries from the appliance, and dispose of them safely.
■ Do not use different types of batteries together or mix new batteries with used batteries.
■ Always insert batteries into the appliance with the correct polarity.
■ If you do not intend to use the appliance for an extended period, remove the batteries.
- Check the condition of the batteries at regular intervals. Leaking batteries can cause injuries as well as damage to the appliance.
■ Always use protective gloves when handling leaking batteries! Clean the battery and appliance contacts as well as the battery compartment with a dry cloth. Do not let the chemicals get into contact with your skin and mucous membranes, especially your eyes. In case of contact with chemicals, wash the affected area with plenty of water and immediately seek medical attention.

Unpacking
◆ Remove all parts of the appliance and the operating instructions from the box.
◆ Remove all packaging material.

Preparations
- Clean the cutting board ⑪, collection tray ⑬ and scale ⑫ as described in the section "Cleaning and care".
Rub the cutting surface of the cutting board ⑪ with a piece of kitchen roll moistened with some cooking oil.
Inserting/changing the batteries in the scale
i NOTE
▶ Always insert two batteries of type AAA (LRO3) into the battery compartment ③!
1) Pull the scale ⑫ out of the cutting board ⑪.
2) Turn the scale over and place it on a soft material so as not to scratch the surface.
3) Open the battery compartment ③. To do this, remove the 2 fastening screws using a small Phillips screwdriver.
4) Remove the old batteries if any are inserted.
5) Insert the new batteries. Note the polarity marked in the battery compartment ③!
6) Close the battery compartment ③, tighten the 2 fastening screws and turn the scale over again.
7) The scale ⑫ switches on as soon as the batteries touch the contacts inside the battery compartment ③.
8) Press and hold the TARE button ④ until the display ⑤ goes blank.
NOTE
▶ If the batteries of the scale are low, the display ⑤ will indicate "L∅". Please change the batteries.
Setting up the appliance
1) Place the scale ⑫ on a level, non-slip surface.
ATTENTION!
▶ This appliance is equipped with non-slip rubber feet.
Furniture surfaces may be made of a variety of materials and are treated with many different types of cleaning agents. Therefore, it is not possible to entirely exclude the possibility that some of these materials contain substances that could degrade and soften the appliance's rubber feet. If possible, place an anti-slip mat under the feet of the appliance.
2)
Remove the sticker on the glass plate ① that describes how to switch the appliance on.
3) Wipe the scale ⑫ with a damp cloth and then dry it off afterwards with a dry cloth.
Use
The scale 12 switches on automatically when an item weighing more than 250 g is placed on it. The weight is displayed immediately.
Alternatively, you can exert some pressure on the weighing surface ① to activate the appliance before placing the item to be weighed.
You can press the TARE button ④ to switch on the scale ⑫ and set it to "☐".
Weighing items
i NOTE
▶ If you would like to weigh items in a container, first place the empty container on the weighing surface ①. Then press the TARE button ④ to set the scale to "☐".
1) Place the items you want to weigh on the scale. The weight and selected unit of measurement are shown on the display 5.
2) If you wish to change the unit or system of measurement, press the UNIT button ⑥ until the required unit of measurement is shown on the display ⑧.
You can choose between:

3) If you want to add further items to be weighed, proceed as described in the section "Adding further items (tare function)".
The appliance switches off automatically after around 3 minutes.
Adding further items (tare function)
You can reset the scale to "☐" to weigh additional quantities.
1) Press the TARE button 4. The scale will display "☐" grammes again and also "Tare".
2) Place the additional ingredient on the scale. The display 5 shows the weight of the newly added item as well as "Tare".
You can repeat this procedure several times. However, never place more than 5,000 grammes on the scale at a time.
If you press the TARE button ④ and remove material from the scale, the weight of the removed quantity is shown on the display ⑤ as a negative value. A "-" appears in front of the weight ⑦ on the display ⑤.
To end the tare function, remove all the items from the scale. Then press the TARE button 4. The scale now indicates a weight of "☐" again.
i NOTE
▶ Never place more than 5,000 grammes on the scale. If the maximum weight capacity is exceeded, the scale will show "D-Ld" on the display ⑤.
Switching the scale off
Press and hold the TARE button ④ until the display ⑤ goes blank.
Or:
■ The scale switches off automatically after around 3 minutes if ...
-you do not press any buttons,
-you do not place any items on the scale,
-you do not remove any items from the scale.
Cleaning and care
! ATTENTION!
▶ To avoid irreparable damage to the appliance, ensure that no moisture gets into it during cleaning.
▶ Do not use abrasive or chemical cleaning agents or pointed or scratchy objects to clean the surfaces.
Wipe the scale 12 with a damp cloth. For stubborn soiling, add a little mild detergent to the cloth. Wipe off any detergent residues using a cloth moistened with fresh water only.
Dry the scale 12 with a cloth after cleaning.
- Rinse the cutting board ⑪ and the collection tray ⑬ immediately after use, if possible, in warm water and some mild soap solution. Then rinse it with fresh water and dry it with a cloth.
NOTE
The collection tray ⑬ can also be washed in the dishwasher.
Storage
Insert the scale 12 and the collection tray 13 into the bottom of the cutting board 11.
You can also hang the scale 12 on the wall when it is not in use. To do this, use the hanger 2 on the back of the scale.
■ Store the appliance in a clean and dry location.
■ Remove the batteries before long periods of non-use.
Disposal
Applies only to France:
The product, its packaging and the operating instructions are recyclable. They are subject to an extended manufacturer responsibility and will be collected separately.
Disposal of the appliance
The adjacent symbol of a crossed-out dustbin means that this appliance is subject to Directive 2012/19/EU. This directive states
that this appliance may not be disposed of in the normal household waste at the end of its useful life, but must be taken to specially set-up collection locations, recycling depots or disposal companies.
The disposal is free of charge for the user. Protect the environment and dispose of this appliance properly.
If your old appliance has stored any personal data, you are responsible for deleting it yourself before returning it.
If it is possible to do so without destroying the old appliance, remove the old batteries or rechargeable batteries before returning the appliance for disposal and take them to a separate collection point. In the case of permanently installed rechargeable batteries, you must indicate during disposal that the appliance contains a battery.
Your local community or municipal authorities can provide information on how to dispose of the worn-out product.
Disposal of the packaging
The packaging materials have been selected for their environmental friendliness and ease of disposal and are therefore recyclable.
Dispose of packaging materials that are no longer needed in accordance with applicable local regulations.
Dispose of the packaging in an environmentally friendly manner. Note the labelling on the packaging and separate the packaging material components for disposal, if
necessary. The packaging material is labelled with abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with the following meanings: 1–7: plastics, 20–22: paper and cardboard, 80–98: composites.

The packaging contains paper and/or cardboard components.
The packaging contains plastic and/or metal components.
Disposal of batteries
Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be treated as hazardous waste and must therefore be disposed of in an environmentally sound manner
by appropriate bodies (dealers, specialist dealers, public municipal bodies, commercial disposal companies). Batteries/rechargeable batteries may contain toxic heavy metals.
The heavy metals contained are identified by letters below the symbol: Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead.
For this reason, do not dispose of batteries/rechargeable batteries in domestic waste. Take them to a specialist collection point.
Only return batteries that are fully discharged.

Dear Customer,
This appliance has a 3-year warranty valid from the date of purchase. If this product has any faults, you, the buyer, have certain statutory rights. Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by the warranty described below.
Warranty conditions
The warranty period starts on the date of purchase. Please keep your receipt in a safe place. This will be required as proof of purchase.
If any material or manufacturing fault occurs within three years of the date of purchase of the product, we will either repair or replace the product for you or refund the purchase price (at our discretion). This warranty service requires that you present the defective appliance and the proof of purchase (receipt) within the three-year warranty period, along with a brief written description of the fault and of when it occurred.
If the defect is covered by the warranty, your product will either be repaired or replaced by us. The repair or replacement of a product does not signify the beginning of a new warranty period.
Warranty period and statutory claims for defects
The warranty period is not prolonged by repairs effected under the warranty. This also applies to replaced and repaired components. Any damage and defects present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking. Repairs carried out after expiry of the warranty period shall be subject to a fee.
Scope of the warranty
This appliance has been manufactured in accordance with strict quality guidelines and inspected meticulously prior to delivery.
The warranty covers material faults or production faults. The warranty does not extend to product parts subject to normal wear and tear or to fragile parts which could be considered as consumable parts such as switches or parts made of glass.
The warranty does not apply if the product has been damaged, improperly used or improperly maintained. The directions in the operating instructions for the product regarding proper use of the product are to be strictly followed. Uses and actions that are discouraged in the operating instructions or which are warned against must be avoided.
This product is intended solely for private use and not for commercial purposes. The warranty shall be deemed void in cases of misuse or improper handling, use of force and modifications / repairs which have not been carried out by one of our authorised Service centres.
Warranty claim procedure
To ensure quick processing of your case, please observe the following instructions:
■ Please have the till receipt and the item number (IAN) 467159_2407 available as proof of purchase.
- You will find the item number on the type plate on the product, an engraving on the product, on the front page of the operating instructions (below left) or on the sticker on the rear or bottom of the product.
If functional or other defects occur, please contact the service department listed either by telephone or by e-mail.
- You can return a defective product to us free of charge to the service address that will be provided to you. Ensure that you enclose the proof of purchase (till receipt) and information about what the defect is and when it occurred.
