How to change the sandpaper on the Einhell TC-DS 20 E sander?

Unplug the device. Remove the used abrasive by peeling it off the pad. Place the new hook and loop sandpaper aligning the dust extraction holes. Press firmly.

The dust container does not attach properly, what to do?

Check that the container is correctly engaged and that the clips are in good condition. Clean the contact surfaces. If the problem persists, replace the dust container with an original part.

Can I use the sander on metal?

Yes, with the appropriate sandpaper (fine grit for steel, coarse grit for deburring). Make sure not to overheat the workpiece and use extraction for metal dust.

The sander vibrates abnormally, what should I check?

Check that the abrasive is properly attached and that the pad is not worn. Ensure the workpiece is stable. If vibrations persist, contact customer service.

How to maintain the TC-DS 20 E sander?

Unplug the device. Clean the dust container after each use. Dust the ventilation slots with a brush. Do not use chemicals.

What type of sandpaper to use?

Use hook and loop triangular abrasives (size 93 x 93 x 140 mm). Choose the grit according to the work: coarse (P40-P60) for roughing, fine (P120-P240) for finishing.

The sander does not start, what to do?

Check that the cable is plugged in and the outlet works. Check the fuse (circuit breaker). If nothing happens, the motor or switch is defective: consult an authorized repairer.

When using the equipment, a few safety precautions must be observed to avoid injuries and damage. Please read the complete operating instructions and safety regulations with due care. Keep this manual in a safe place, so that the information is available at all times. If you give the equipment to any other person, hand over these operating instructions and safety regulations as well. We cannot accept any liability for damage or accidents which arise due to a failure to follow these instructions and the safety instructions.

Explanation of the symbols used (see Fig. 8)

1. Danger! - Read the operating instructions to reduce the risk of injury.
2. Caution! Wear ear-muffs. The impact of noise can cause damage to hearing.
3. Caution! Wear a breathing mask. Dust which is injurious to health can be generated when working on wood and other materials. Never use the device to work on any materials containing asbestos!
4. Caution! Wear safety goggles. Sparks generated during working or splinters, chips and dust emitted by the device can cause loss of sight.

The machine is designed for the grinding/sanding of wood, metal, plastic and similar materials using the appropriate grinding/sanding paper.

The equipment is to be used only for its prescribed purpose. Any other use is deemed to be a case of misuse. The user / operator and not the manufacturer will be liable for any damage or injuries of any kind caused as a result of this.

Please note that our equipment has not been designed for use in commercial, trade or industrial applications. Our warranty will be voided if the machine is used in commercial, trade or industrial businesses or for equivalent purposes.

5. Before starting the equipment

Before you connect the equipment to the mains supply, make sure that the data on the rating plate are identical to the mains data.

Warning!

Always pull the power plug before making adjustments to the equipment.

5.1 Fastening the grinding/sanding paper (Fig. 2)

The hook-and-loop fastener enables easy changing. Make sure that the vacuum extraction holes on the grinding/sanding paper and the grinding/sanding disk are aligned.

5.2 Swiveling the grinding/sanding plate (Fig. 3 / Item 2)

By swiveling the grinding/sanding plate (2) you can start working again more quickly when any corners of the grinding/sanding paper or the grinding/sanding plate are worn.

1. Open the grinding/sanding plate lock (1).
2. Swivel the grinding/sanding plate (2).
3. Close the grinding/sanding plate lock (1).

5.3 Fitting the dust extractor adapter (Fig. 4-6 / Item 3)

1. Press on one side of the cap for the dust extraction opening (4).
2. Remove the cap for the dust extraction opening (4) from the other side.

1. Insert the dust extraction adapter (3) in the dust extraction opening (a).

The dust extraction adapter can be inserted on either side to suit the application. See Fig. 5. Connect the dust extraction adapter (3) to a suitable dust extraction system (b) as shown in Fig. 6.

6. Operation

6.1 On/Off switch (Fig. 7 / Item 6)

• To switch on the equipment, move the On/Off switch (6) from "0" to "1".
• To switch off the equipment, move the On/Off switch (6) from "1" to "0".

6.2 Speed control (Fig. 7/Pos. 5)

You can select the speed by turning the speed controller (5).

6.3 Practical tips

This equipment offers particularly high performance for the grinding/sanding of hard-to-reach corners and edges. To grind/sand profiles and channels you can also work with just the tip or the edge of the grinding/sanding disk. Various grinding/sanding papers are available, specially designed for the different types of material you may be working on and the amount you wish to remove from the surface. The amount removed will depend largely on the choice of grinding/sanding paper and pressure applied to the grinding/sanding disk.

7. Replacing the power cable

Danger!

If the power cable for this equipment is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its after-sales service or similarly trained personnel to avoid danger.

8. Cleaning, maintenance and ordering of spare parts

Danger!

Always pull out the mains power plug before starting any cleaning work.

8.1 Cleaning

• Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure. • We recommend that you clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it.
• Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could attack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensure that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock.

8.2 Carbon brushes

In case of excessive sparking, have the carbon brushes checked only by a qualified electrician. Danger! The carbon brushes should not be replaced by anyone but a qualified electrician.

8.3 Maintenance

There are no parts inside the equipment which require additional maintenance.

9. Disposal and recycling

The equipment is supplied in packaging to prevent it from being damaged in transit. The raw materials in this packaging can be reused or recycled. The equipment and its accessories are made of various types of material, such as metal and plastic. Never place defective equipment in your household refuse. The equipment should be taken to a suitable collection center for proper disposal. If you do not know the whereabouts of such a collection point, you should ask in your local council offices.

10. Storage

Store the equipment and accessories in a dark and dry place at above freezing temperature. The ideal storage temperature is between 5 and 30 °C. Store the electric tool in its original packaging.

Never place any electric power tools in your household refuse.

To comply with European Directive 2012/19/EC concerning old electric and electronic equipment and its implementation in national laws, old electric power tools have to be separated from other waste and disposed of in an environment-friendly fashion, e.g. by taking to a recycling depot.

Recycling alternative to the return request: As an alternative to returning the equipment to the manufacturer, the owner of the electrical equipment must make sure that the equipment is properly disposed of if he no longer wants to keep the equipment. The old equipment can be returned to a suitable collection point that will dispose of the equipment in accordance with the national recycling and waste disposal regulations. This does not apply to any accessories or aids without electrical components supplied with the old equipment.

Please note that batteries and lamps (e.g. light bulbs) must be removed from the tool before it is disposed of.
