General Power Tool Safety Warnings

WARNING

Read all safety warnings and all instructions.

Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

1. Work area safety

a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust.

Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.

c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

2. Electrical safety

a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.

b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.

c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.

e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use a voltage cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.

f) If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

3. Personal safety

a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.

b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.

c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energizing power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.

e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.

g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are

connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

h) Wear ear protection. Exposure to noise may cause hearing loss.

4. Power tool use and care

a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

f) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

5. Service

a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

b) If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer through its technical service or qualified professional, in order to prevent risk of electrical shock.

c) In the event of carbon brush wear, take the tool to an authorized service for replacement. Carbon brushes off specification cause damages to the tool's motor.

d) In the event of fuse burn out, take the tool to an authorized service for replacement. Fuses off specification do not guarantee protection to the tool's motor.

Common safety warnings for concrete vibration

a) This tool was designed for operation as a concrete vibrator. Read all safety warnings, instructions, presentations, and data provided with the power tool. Disregard of the following instructions may result in electrical shock, fire and/or serious injuries.

b) Operations for which the tool has not been designed may generate risk and personal injury.

c) Do not use a damaged work accessory. Before each use, inspect the work accessory. If the tool or work accessory has been dropped, inspect it for damages or install a non-damaged work accessory. d) Wear individual protection equipment. Depending on the application, wear face protector, safety gloves, and goggles. When appropriate, wear a dust mask, ear protectors, gloves, and apron capable of blocking small abrasives or fragments from the work piece. The eye protector must be capable of blocking thrust fragments generated by various operations. The dust mask or respirator must be capable of filtering particles generated by operation. Prolonged exposure to high noise levels may cause hearing loss. e) Keep observers at a safe distance from the work place. Any person entering the work place must wear individual protection equipment. Fragments from the work piece or a broken work accessory might be tossed from the area of operation and cause injury. f) Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting accessory in contact with a "live" wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and could give the operator an electric shock. g) Place the cord away from the rotary accessory. If you lose control, the cord may be cut or entangled and your hand or arm may be pulled towards the rotary accessory. h) Never rest the tool until the work accessory comes to a complete stop. The rotary work accessory may grasp the surface and cause loss of control. i) Do not turn on the tool while transporting it. Accidental contact with the rotary work accessory may make it entwine into your clothing, pulling the work accessory towards your body. j) Regularly clean the tool's ventilation openings. The motor blower carries the dust to the inside of the carcass and excessive dust buildup may cause risks. k) Do not operate the tool close to flammable materials. Sparks may cause these materials to catch fire.

When using the machine, avoid misuse and/or incorrect operation proceedings or conditions, taking adequate precautions, such as below:

▶ Never carry the vibrator through the electrical cord nor pull the cord to remove it from the socket. ▶ Protect the electrical cord during the operation, avoiding it from entangling into hardware or being supported on a cutting surface. ▶ Do not turn the motor off with the head submerged into the concrete. Do not keep the motor on with the head out of the concrete. This proceeding reduces the bearings and head retainer's service life.

Additional warning notices:

a) Unlock the on/off switch and place it at the off position if the power source is interrupted (in the event of power outage, if the cord is pulled from the socket or the PRCD is off). This way undue and uncontrolled tool operation is avoided.

General Data

The Bosch immersion vibrator for concrete was especially designed for condensing the most various types of concrete for the confection of columns, beams, shallow foundations, strip foundations, floors and slabs among others, keeping the mass mix homogeneous eliminating air and enabling higher concrete rigidity and resistance. The vibrating head is manufactured in special and hardened steel for parts subject to greater wear due to friction with the concrete; it is equipped with an internal duly dimensioned eccentric device (assembled over bearings with fiber cage), added through universal motor and flexible impact shaft and high condensing amplitude that added result in greater efficiency and lesser cost/benefit. The hose, due to the demanding work rigor, is manufactured in rubber over brass wire scheme with internal spiral in ABTN 1060 heat treated steel, making it more resistant.

Observe the product number on your power tool's features plate. The individual power tools commercial designation may vary. On procedures cause brief voltage reduction. Accessories Assembly

▶ Before any work on the power tool, pull the mains plug. ▶ After assembling accessories, verify, before turning on the power tool, if the accessory is correctly assembled. Make sure the accessory does not touch other parts.

Buzzer

The Bosch GVC 22 EX vibrator shall only be used with Bosch F000600390, F000600494, F000633058 and F000633062, F000633063 and F000633056 buzzers. ▶ Place the motor and buzzer on a flat surface.

▶ Stretch the buzzer (7) with the tip of the flexible shaft (5) directed towards the flexible shaft (4) coupling nozzle.

▶ Pull the vibrator stop pin (3), align the buzzer roll pin (8) with the flexible shaft (5) fitting in the fuse coupling (4) and push the buzzer metallic part so as the stop pin (3) fits the hole (6).

▶ Release the stop pin (3) rod. ▶ Make sure the buzzer is well fixed.

Operation

Starting Operation

WARNING

Do not keep the machine motor on with

the buzzer head out of the concrete. This procedure reduces the buzzer bearings and retainer service life.

▶ Observe correct mains voltage! The voltage of the power source must agree with the voltage specified on the nameplate of the machine. Power tools marked with 230 V can also be operated with 220 V.

If the power tool is fed by movable electric generators with no sufficient power backup nor an appropriate voltage regulation (with support of starting current), power reductions or abnormal behavior may occur when turning on the device. Verify the adaptation of the applied generator, especially as to the power grid voltage and frequency.

Residual current safety device (10) (PRCD)

The tool is equipped with a residual current safety device. Before turning on the machine, perform the test.

1) Before connecting the plug to the socket, check if the machine switch is off. If it is on, turn it off. 2) Connect the plug to the socket, press the reset button and hold it until the A indicator lights turns red. 3) Next, press the test button and hold it until the light from the A indicator turns from red to black. If the A indicator light color does not change, this means the device has a problem and must be replaced; so, do not turn the machine on and take it to a Bosch authorized technical assistance. 4) If there is a light color change, press the reset button again. 5) Turn the machine on.

Note: the residual current safety device does not protect against electrical shock of up to 10 mA.

Warning! Every time you remove the plug from the socket and start a new operation, it is necessary to perform the entire test again.

Working Advice

▶ Only turn the motor on when ready to start working. ▶ Take a firm and safe posture with perfect balance. ▶ Do not try to overreach. ▶ Let the head penetrate into the concrete by its own weight. Do not force penetration, avoiding hose folding (buzzer floppy breakage) and motor overload. Condensing time is 10 to 20 seconds in each introduction. The concrete will be condensed when the surface is shining (clear) and air bubbles no longer surface. The excess of time will cause segregation (separation of sand, stone, cement) and loss of concrete resistance. Closely observe work development. The head introduction must be performed at distances between 8 to 10 times the head diameter, that is, 30 mm heads = 30cm distances, 35mm heads = 35cm distances (Fig. A).

On the overlapping of layers, the head must reach the inferior layer with penetration between 10 and 15cm in order to assure good layer adhesion (Fig. B).

▶ Slowly remove the head from the concrete with the machine operating, avoiding the buildup of bubbles or flaws on the condensed surface. ▶ Avoid prolonged contact with shapes or hardware, so as to not damage shapes and avoid the head getting stuck in hardware.

In the event of buzzer entanglement during use, do not pull it.

In order to obtain good condensing result, it is necessary for the operator to have basic knowledge of machine operation as well as concrete pouring.

Maintenance and Cleaning

▶ Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains plug. For safe and proper working, always keep the machine and ventilation slots clean. ▶ Clean the buzzer and head after end of service, thus avoiding the concrete to dry over their surface, damaging them. ▶ Store the vibrator thoroughly clean, protected and wrapped. ▶ Pay attention to the buzzer connection so as to not

pour water into the hose during cleaning, as concrete remains may enter into the hose and damage the product (flexible breakage and bearings locking).

Accessories must be stored and handled with care. If the tool presents failure, despite careful manufacturing and quality control processes, it must be repaired at authorized Bosch Electrical Tools Technical Support. Check our consumer support service (S.A.C.).

Warranty

We provide warranty for Bosch tools in accordance to legal provisions as specified in the warranty certificate (verification through invoice and completed warranty certificate).

Damages resulting from natural wear, overload or incorrect use shall not be covered by warranty.
