Frequently Asked Questions - CM06BK GORENJE

How do I descale my Gorenje CM06BK coffee machine?
To descale, mix a descaling solution with water according to the package instructions, pour into the tank, and run a brewing cycle without coffee grounds. Repeat with fresh water to rinse. Descale every 2-3 months for optimal performance.
What type of coffee grounds should I use?
Use medium-ground coffee for drip coffee makers. Avoid very fine grounds as they may clog the filter. A paper or permanent filter can be used.
How many cups does the CM06BK brew?
The water tank holds 1.2 liters, which can brew up to 10 cups of coffee (based on a standard 120 ml cup). Actual cup count depends on your cup size.
Can I use the machine without a paper filter?
Yes, a permanent filter is included. Just place it in the filter holder and add coffee grounds. Clean the filter after each use.
Why does my coffee taste bitter?
Bitterness can be due to over-extraction (coffee grounds too fine or too much coffee), dirty machine, or stale water. Use fresh, cold water and adjust grind size or amount.
How do I clean the glass carafe?
Wash the carafe with warm soapy water and a soft sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners and metal scrubbers. Rinse thoroughly. Do not immerse the carafe in water if it has a warming plate contact.
Does the machine have an auto shut-off feature?
Yes, the CM06BK automatically turns off after 30 minutes of inactivity for safety and energy saving.
What is the power consumption of the CM06BK?
The machine consumes 850 watts during operation. Ensure your outlet can handle this load.
Where can I find spare parts for my Gorenje coffee machine?
Spare parts such as carafes, filter holders, and drip trays can be purchased from authorized Gorenje service centers or online retailers. Check the manual for part numbers.
Why is water not flowing through the machine?
This may be due to a clogged water line or mineral buildup. Try descaling first. Ensure the water tank is properly seated and the filter is not blocked. If issue persists, contact support.

Before using the appliance for the first time

For the perfect flavour, run the coffee brewing cycle with water only (without coffee) two or three times. Each time the water runs through the appliance, unplug it and let it cool down for five minutes. Then repeat the cycle with fresh water.

Brewing coffee

  1. Open the water tank lid and fill the water tank with cold drinking water. The water level should not exceed the MAX level as indicated on the water gauge.
  2. Swing the funnel holder out, put the funnel into the funnel holder, then place the filter paper in the funnel, and make sure it is assembled correctly.
  3. Add ground coffee into the paper filter. Usually a cup of coffee needs a level spoon of ground coffee, but you may adjust the amount according to personal taste. Close the funnel holder. A click sound will be heard when the funnel holder is closed completely.
  4. Place the carafe on the warming plate horizontally.
  5. Plug the power cord into the outlet.
  6. When you press down the switch, the indicator will be illuminated. The appliance will begin operating. Note 1: During the brewing process, you may remove the carafe to serve the coffee for up to 30 seconds; during this time, the coffee maker will stop dripping automatically. If the serving time exceeds 30 seconds, the coffee will overflow the funnel. Caution: DO NOT touch the cover while the unit is brewing coffee, to avoid being scalded by hot steam.
  7. When the brewing process is complete – i.e. one minute later after the coffee

stops dripping out – you may remove the carafe and serve the coffee.

Note: The amount of brewed coffee you get will be slightly less than the amount of water you added, since some water is absorbed by the coffee grounds. During operation, DO NOT touch the cover, warming plate, and other parts, as they are very hot.

  1. If you do not wish to serve the coffee immediately after the brewing process is finished, keep the switch on, and the coffee can be kept warm on the warming plate for 40 minutes. After this time, the appliance will be switched off automatically. For optimum coffee taste, serve it immediately after brewing.
  2. Always switch off the coffee maker and disconnect it from the power supply after use.

Note: Be careful when pouring the coffee. The coffee that has just been brewed is very hot and you could scald yourself.

Cleaning

CAUTION: Always unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet and allow the warming plate to cool completely before cleaning it. Never immerse the unit or the power cord in water or any other liquid for cleaning.

  1. Clean all detachable parts after each use in hot sudsy water.
  2. Wipe the product's exterior surface with a soft damp cloth to remove stains.
  3. Water droplets may build up in the area above the funnel and drip onto the coffee maker base during brewing. To control the dripping, wipe off the area with a clean dry cloth after each use.
  4. Use a damp cloth to gently wipe the warming plate. Never use an abrasive cleaner to clean it.
  5. Replace all parts and store until next use.

Removing mineral deposits

To keep your coffee maker operating efficiently, you should periodically clean the mineral deposits, the build-up of which depends on water quality in your area and

on how frequently you use the appliance. We recommend descaling your coffee maker as follows, using a solution of white vinegar and cold water. A solution of two tablespoons (30 ml) of white vinegar in one carafe of cold water works best.

  1. Fill the tank with the vinegar solution up to the maximum level as indicated on water gauge.
  2. Insert the glass carafe onto the warming plate.
  3. Make sure the paper filter (without any ground coffee) and funnel are assembled and in place.
  4. Switch on the appliance and allow it to "brew" the descaling solution.
  5. After one cup of solution has been brewed, switch off the appliance.
  6. Leave the solution in the appliance for 15 minutes, then repeat steps 3–5.
  7. Switch on the appliance and run off the rest of the solution until the water tank is completely empty.
  8. Rinse by operating the appliance with only water at least 3 times.

Environment

Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment.
