1.1. Power Supply

Make sure the main voltage is compatible with the appliance's. If this is not the case, please consult the Customer Support Service.

Do not tangle the cord or pull it to disconnect the appliance. Also, keep the cord away from warm surfaces.

Never use the appliance if it has a damaged cable or socket.

Electrical Information

  • The manufacturer's nameplate is located on the dehumidifier's rear panel and it contains electrical and other technical data specific to this unit.
  • Make sure the unit is properly grounded. To minimize shock and fire hazards, proper grounding is important. The power cord is equipped with a three-prong grounding plug for protection against shock hazards.
  • Your unit must be used in a properly grounded wall receptacle. If the wall receptacle you intend to use is not adequately grounded or protected by a time delay fuse or circuit breaker (the fuse or circuit breaker needed is determined by the maximum current of the unit. The maximum current is indicated on the nameplate located on unit), have a qualified electrician install the proper receptacle.

4. Storage of equipment/appliances

The storage of equipment should be done in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

5. Storage of packed (unsold) equipment

Storage package protection should be constructed in such a way that mechanical damage to the equipment inside the package will not cause it to leak refrigerant.

The maximum number of pieces of equipment permitted to be stored together will be determined by local regulations.

6. Information Servicing 1) Area checks

Prior to beginning work on systems containing flammable refrigerants, safety checks are necessary to ensure that the risk of ignition is minimised. For repair to the refrigerating system, the following precautions shall be complied with prior to conducting work on the system.

2) Work procedure

Works shall be undertaken under a controlled procedure so as to minimise the risk of a flammable gas or vapour being present while the work is being performed.

3) General work area

All maintenance staff and others working in the local area shall be instructed on the nature of work being carried out. Work in confined spaces shall be avoided. The area around the work space shall be sectioned off. Ensure that the conditions within the area have been made safe by control of flammable material.

4) Checking for presence of refrigerant

The area shall be checked with an appropriate refrigerant detector prior to and during work, to ensure the technician is aware of potentially flammable atmospheres. Ensure that the leak detection equipment being used is suitable for

use with flammable refrigerants, i.e. no sparking, adequately sealed or intrinsically safe.

5) Presence of fire extinguisher

If any hot work is to be conducted on the refrigeration equipment or any associated parts, appropriate fire extinguishing equipment shall be available on hand. Have a dry power or CO2 fire extinguisher next to the charging area.

6) No ignition sources

No person carrying out work with a refrigeration system which involves exposing any pipe work that contains or has contained flammable refrigerant shall use any sources of ignition in such a manner that it may lead to risk of fire or explosion. All possible ignition sources, including cigarette smoking, should be kept sufficiently far away from the site of installation, repairing, removing and disposal, during which flammable refrigerant can possibly be released to the surrounding space. Prior to work taking place, the area around the equipment is to be surveyed to make sure that there are no flammable hazards or ignition risks. "NO SMOKING" signs shall be displayed.

7) Ventilated area

Ensure the work area is in the open or that it is adequately ventilated before breaking into the system or conducting any hot work. A degree of

ventilation shall continue during the period that the work is carried out. The ventilation should safely disperse any released refrigerant and preferably expel it externally into the atmosphere.

8) Checks to the refrigeration equipment

Where electrical components are being changed, they shall be fit for the purpose and to the correct specification. At all times the manufacturer's maintenance and service guidelines shall be followed.

If in doubt, consult the manufacturer's technical department for assistance. The following checks shall be applied to installations using flammable refrigerants:

  • The charge size is in accordance with the room size within which the refrigerant containing parts are installed;
  • The ventilation machinery and outlets are operating adequately and are not obstructed;
  • If an indirect refrigerating circuit is being used, the secondary circuits shall be checked for the presence of refrigerant; marking to the equipment continues to be visible and legible.
  • Marking and signs that are illegible shall be corrected;

  • Refrigeration pipe or components are installed in a position where they are unlikely to be exposed to any substance which may corrode refrigerant containing components, unless the components are constructed of materials which are inherently resistant to being
  • Corroded or are suitably protected against being so corroded.

9) Checks to electrical devices

Repair and maintenance to electrical components shall include initial safety checks and component inspection procedures. If a fault exists that could compromise safety, then no electrical supply shall be connected to the circuit until it is satisfactorily dealt with. If the fault cannot be corrected immediately but it is necessary to continue operation, and adequate temporary solution shall be used. This shall be reported to the owner of the equipment, so all parties are advised.

Initial safety checks shall include:

  • That capacitors are discharged: this shall be done in a safe manner to avoid possibility of sparking
  • That there no live electrical components and wiring are exposed while charging, recovering or purging the system;

- That there is continuity of earth bonding.

7. Repairs to sealed components

1) During repairs to sealed components, all electrical supplies shall be disconnected from the equipment being worked upon prior to any removal of sealed covers, etc. If it is absolutely necessary to have an electrical supply to equipment during servicing, then a permanently operating form of leak detection shall be located at the most critical point to warn of a potentially hazardous situation.

2) Particular attention shall be paid to the following to ensure that by, working on electrical components, the casing is not altered in such a way that the level of protection is affected. This shall include damage to cables, excessive number of connections, terminals not made to original specification, damage to seals, incorrect fitting of glands, etc.

  • Ensure that apparatus is mounted securely.
  • Ensure that seals or sealing materials have not degraded in such a way that they no longer serve the purpose of preventing the ingress of flammable atmospheres. Replacement parts shall be in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.

NOTE: The use of silicon sealant may inhibit the effectiveness of some types of leak detection equipment. Intrinsically safe components do not have to be isolated prior to working on them.

8. Repair to intrinsically safe components

Do not apply any permanent inductive or capacitance loads to the circuit without ensuring that this will not exceed the permissible voltage and current permitted for the equipment in use. Intrinsically safe components are the only types that can be worked on while live in the presence of a flammable atmosphere. The test apparatus shall be at the correct rating.

Replace components only with parts specified by the manufacturer. Other parts may result in the ignition of refrigerant in the atmosphere from a leak.

9. Cabling

Check that cabling will not be subject to wear, corrosion, excessive pressure, vibration, sharp edges or any other adverse environmental effects. The check shall also take into account the effects of aging or continual vibration from sources such as compressors or fans.

10. Detection of flammable refrigerants

Under no circumstances shall potential sources of ignition be used when in the search for or detection of refrigerant leaks. A halide torch (or any other detector using a naked flame) shall not be used.

11. Leak detection methods

The following leak detection methods are deemed acceptable for systems containing flammable refrigerants. Electronic leak detectors shall be used to detect flammable refrigerants, but the sensitivity may not be adequate, or may need re-calibration (detection equipment shall be calibrated in a refrigerant-free area). Ensure that the detector is not a potential source of ignition and is suitable for the refrigerant. Leak detection equipment shall be set at a percentage of the LFL of the refrigerant and shall be calibrated to the refrigerant employed and the appropriate percentage of gas (25% maximum) is confirmed. Leak detection fluids are suitable for use with most refrigerants but the use of detergents containing chlorine shall be avoided as the chlorine may react with the refrigerant and corrode the copper pipe-work. If a leak is suspected, all naked flames shall be removed or extinguished. If a leakage of refrigerant is found which requires brazing, all of the refrigerant shall be recovered from the system, or isolated (by means of shut off valves) in a part of the system remote from the leak. Oxygen free nitrogen (OFN) shall then be purged through the system both before and during the brazing process.

12. Removal and evacuation

When accessing the refrigerant circuit to make repairs for any other purpose, conventional

procedures shall be used. However, it is important that best practice is followed since flammability is a consideration. The following procedure shall be adhered to:

  • Remove refrigerant;
  • Purge the circuit with inert gas;

•Evacuate;

• purge again with inert gas;
- Open the circuit by cutting or brazing.

The refrigerant charge shall be recovered into the correct recovery cylinders. The system shall be flushed with OFN to render the unit safe. This process may need to be repeated several times. Compressed air or oxygen shall not be used for this task.

Flushing shall be achieved by breaking the vacuum in the system with OFN and continuing to fill it until the working pressure is achieved, then venting to atmosphere, and finally pulling down to a vacuum. This process shall be repeated until no refrigerant is in the system.

When the final OFN charge is used, the system shall be vented down to atmospheric pressure to enable work to take place. This operation is absolutely vital if brazing operations on the pipework are to take place.

Ensure that the outlet for the vacuum pump is not closed to any ignition sources and there is ventilation available.

13. Charging procedures

In addition to conventional charging procedures, the following requirements shall be followed:

  • Ensure that contamination of different refrigerants does not occur when using charging equipment. Hoses or lines shall be as short as possible to minimize the amount of refrigerant contained in them.
    • Cylinders shall be kept upright.
  • Ensure that the refrigeration system is earthed prior to charging the system with refrigerant.
  • Label the system when charging is complete (if not already).
  • Extreme care shall be taken not to overfill the refrigeration system.
  • Prior to recharging the system it shall be pressure tested with OFN. The system shall be leak tested on completion of charging but prior to commissioning. A follow up leak test shall be carried out prior to leaving the site.

14. Decommissioning

Before carrying out this procedure, it is essential that the technician be completely familiar with the equipment and all its detail. It is recommended good practice that all refrigerants are recovered safely. Prior to the task being carried out, an oil and refrigerant sample shall be taken.

In case analysis is required prior to re-use of reclaimed refrigerant. It is essential that electrical power is available before the task is commenced.

a) Become familiar with the equipment and its operation.
b) Isolate system electrically
c) Before attempting the procedure ensure that:

  • Mechanical handling equipment is available, if required, for handling refrigerant cylinders;
  • All personal protective equipment is available and being used correctly;
  • The recovery process is supervised at all times by a competent person;
  • Recovery equipment and cylinders conform to the appropriate standards.

d) Pump down refrigerant system, if possible.
e) If a vacuum is not possible, make a manifold so that refrigerant can be removed from various parts of the system.
f) Make sure that cylinder is situated on the scales before recovery takes place.
g) Start the recovery machine and operate in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
h) Do not overfill the cylinders (no more than 80% of the volume liquid charge).
i) Do not exceed the maximum working pressure of the cylinder, even temporarily.
j) When the cylinders have been filled correctly and the process completed, make sure the cylinders and the equipment are removed from the site promptly and all isolation valves on the equipment are closed off.
k) Recovered refrigerant shall not be charged into another refrigeration system unless it has been cleaned and checked.

15. Labelling

Equipment shall be labelled stating that it has been de-commissioned and emptied of

refrigerant. The label shall be dated and signed. Ensure that there are labels on the equipment stating the equipment contains flammable refrigerant.

16. Recovery

  • When removing refrigerant from a system, either for service or decommissioning, it is recommended good practice that all refrigerants be removed safely.
  • When transferring refrigerant into cylinders, ensure that only appropriate refrigerant recovery cylinders are used. Ensure that the correct numbers of cylinders for holding the total system charge are available. All cylinders to be used are designated for the recovered refrigerant and labelled for that refrigerant (i.e. special cylinders for the recovery of refrigerant). Cylinders shall be complete with pressure relief valve and associated shut-off valves in good working order.
  • Empty recovery cylinders are evacuated and, if possible, cooled before recovery occurs. The recovery equipment shall be in good working order with a set of instructions concerning the equipment that is at hand and shall be suitable for the recovery of flammable refrigerants. In addition, a set of calibrated weighing scales shall be available and in good working order.

  • Hoses shall be complete with leak-free disconnect couplings and in good condition. Before using the recovery machine, check that it is in satisfactory working order, has been properly maintained and that any associated electrical components are sealed to prevent ignition in the event of a refrigerant release. Consult the manufacturer if in doubt.

  • The recovered refrigerant shall be returned to the refrigerant supplier in the correct recovery cylinder, and the relevant Waste Transfer Note arranged. Do not mix refrigerants in recovery units and especially not in the cylinders.
  • If compressors or compressor oils are to be removed, ensure that they have been evacuated to an acceptable level to make sure that flammable refrigerant does not remain within the lubricant. The evacuation process shall be carried out prior to returning the compressor to the suppliers. Only electric heating to the compressor body shall be employed to accelerate this process. When oil is drained from a system, it shall be carried out safely.

Control buttons

When pushing a button to change operation modes, the dehumidifier will beep to indicate that it is changing modes.

① Power Press to turn the dehumidifier on and off. NOTE: when the compressor starts or stops running, the unit may make a loud noise, which is normal.
② Mode Press to select the desired operation mode between Dehumidifying, Dryer, Continuous dehumidifying and Smart dehumidifying.
NOTE: Dryer and Smart dehumidifying modes are optional.

• Humidity Set Control

The humidity level can be set within a range of 35% RH (Relative Humidity) to 85% RH (Relative Humidity) in 5% increments. For drier air, press the button and set to a lower percent value (%) . For damper air, press the button and set a higher percent value (%)

- TIMER Set Control

Use the Up/Down buttons to set the Auto start and Auto stop time from 0.0 to 24.

⑤ Fan Control the fan speed. Press to select fan speed in three steps: low, medium and high. The fan speed indicator light illuminates under different fan speed settings. When selecting the High fan speed, both the Low and Med fan speed lights illuminate.
⑥ Timer Press to initiate the Auto start and Auto stop feature, together with the ⊕ and ⊖ buttons.
7 Wireless (optional) Press this button for 3 seconds to start the Wireless connection mode. The LED DISPLAY will show 'AP' (at this time the unit shuts off all other functions) to indicate you can set the Wireless connection. If the connection (router) is successful within 8 minutes, the unit will exit Wireless connection mode automatically, the Wireless indicator illuminates and the unit resumes the previous functions. If the connection fails within 8 minutes, the unit exits the Wireless connection mode automatically.
8 Display Shows the set % humidity level from 35 % to 85 % or auto start/stop time (0\~24) while setting, then shows the actual (±5 % accuracy) room % humidity level in a range of 30 % RH (Relative Humidity) to 90 % RH (Relative Humidity).

Error Codes and Protection Codes:

AS - Humidity sensor module error - Unplug the unit and plug it back in. If the error persists, call for service

ES - Temperature sensor error - Unplug the unit and plug it back in. If the error persists, call for service
P2 - Collector is full or collector is not in the correct position – Empty the collector and place it in the correct position.

Other features

Collector Full Light

It lights up when the collector is ready to be emptied or when the collector is removed or not replaced in the proper position.

Auto Shut Off

It shuts off when the collector is full or when the collector is removed or not replaced in the proper position. For some models, the fan motor will continue to run for 30 seconds.

Auto Defrost

When frost builds up on the evaporator coils, the compressor will cycle off and the fan will continue to run until the frost disappears.

NOTE: when performing the auto defrosting operation, the refrigerant flowing may make a noise, which is normal.

Wait 3 minutes before resuming operation

After the unit has stopped, its operation cannot restart for 3 minutes. This happens to protect the unit. Operation will resume automatically after 3 minutes.

Smart dehumidifying mode (optional)

With the smart dehumidifying mode, the unit will automatically control the room humidity in a comfortable range 45% \~ 55% according to the room temperature. The humidity setting function will be invalid.

Auto-Restart

If the unit breaks off unexpectedly due to a power cut, it will restart automatically with the previous function setting when power resumes.

Setting the Timer

  • Press to start the Auto start or Auto stop feature, together with the ⊕ and ⊖ buttons.
  • When the unit is on, press the Timer button to activate the AUTO STOP feature. When the unit is off, press this button to activate the AUTO START feature.
  • Press or hold the UP or DOWN buttons to change the Auto time by 0.5 hour increments, up to 10 hours, then by 1 hour increments up to 24 hours. The control will count down the time remaining until it starts operation.
  • The selected time will register in 5 seconds and the system will automatically revert to display the previous humidity setting.
  • Turning the unit ON or OFF at any time or adjusting the timer setting to 0.0 will cancel the Auto Start or Auto Stop feature.
  • When the LED display window displays the "P2" code, the Auto Start or Auto Stop feature will also be cancelled.

Dryer mode(optional)

The unit can run on the MAX dehumidification function when it is under the Dryer mode. The fan speed is fixed at high fan speed.

Allow a 30-50 cm distance between the top and right side of the unit in relation to wet clothes.

NOTE:

  • The Dryer mode must be operated in a closed room, with no doors and windows open.
  • For the optimal dehumidification, start by removing most of the clothes' humidity.
  • Direct the airflow at the wet clothes (See Fig. A).
  • For thick and heavy wet clothes, you may not get the optimal dehumidification.

CAUTION

  • Do not cover the unit's air outlet with clothes, as it may cause excessive heat, fire or the unit to fail.
  • Do not place wet clothes on top of the unit and do not let water get into the unit. It may cause electric shock, creepage or the unit to fail.

2.2. Product Usage

Positioning the unit

A dehumidifier operating in a basement will have little or no effect in drying an adjacent enclosed storage area, such as a closet, unless there is adequate air circulation in and out of the area.

  • Do not use the unit outdoors.
  • This dehumidifier is intended for indoor residential use only. This dehumidifier should not be used for commercial or industrial uses.
  • Place the dehumidifier on a smooth, levelled floor, strong enough to support the unit with a full water collector.
  • Allow at least 20 cm of air space on all sides of the unit for good air circulation.
  • Place the unit in an area where the temperature will not fall below 5^ C (41°F). The coils can become covered with frost at temperatures below 5^ C (41°F), which may reduce performance.

  • Place the unit away from the clothes dryer, heater or radiator.

  • Use the unit to prevent moisture damage anywhere books or valuables are stored.
  • Use the dehumidifier in a basement to help prevent moisture damage.
  • The dehumidifier must be operated in an enclosed area to be most effective.
  • Close all doors, windows and other outside openings to the room.

Casters (Install at four points on the bottom of the unit)

- Do not force casters to move over carpet, nor move the unit with water in the collector (the unit may tip over and spill water).

NOTE: Casters is optional; some models do not feature it.

When using the unit

  • When first using the dehumidifier, operate it continuously for 24 hours.
  • This unit is designed to operate with a working environment between 5^ / 41^ and 32^ / 90^ , and between 30% (RH) and 80% (RH).
  • If the unit has been switched off and needs to be switched on again quickly, allow approximately three minutes for the correct operation to resume.
  • Do not connect the dehumidifier to a multiple socket outlet, which is also being used for other electrical appliances.

  • Select a suitable location, making sure you have easy access to an electrical outlet.

  • Plug the unit into an electrical socket-outlet with earth connection.
  • Make sure the water collector is correctly fitted otherwise the unit will not operate properly.

NOTE: When the water in the collector reaches to a certain level, please be careful when moving the unit to avoid it spilling over.

Removing the collected water

There are two ways to remove collected water.

1. Use the collector

  • When the collector is full, the Full indicator light will illuminate and the digital display will show "P2".
  • Slowly pull out the collector. Grip the left and right handles securely, and carefully pull it out straight, so that water does not spill. Do not place the collector on the floor because the bottom of the collector is uneven. Otherwise, the collector will fall and spill water.
  • Throw away the water and replace the collector. This must be in place and securely seated for the dehumidifier to operate.
  • Hold both sides of the collector with even strength, and pull it out from the unit.

  • Slightly pull out the collector.

- The dehumidifier will resume its original operation when the collector is replaced in its correct position.

NOTES:

  • When you remove the collector, do not touch any parts inside of the unit. Doing so may damage the product.
  • Make sure you push the collector gently all the way back into the unit. Banging the collector against anything or failing to push it in securely may cause the unit not to operate.
  • When you remove the collector, if there is some water in the unit you must dry it.

2. Continuous draining

  • Water can be automatically emptied into a floor drain by attaching the unit to a water hose (not included).
  • Remove the rubber plug from the back drain hose outlet. Attach a drain hose (ID = 13.5 mm) and lead it to the floor drain or a suitable drainage facility (see Fig. 7).
  • Make sure the hose is secure so there are no leaks.
  • Direct the hose toward the drain, making sure that there are no kinks that will stop the water flowing.
  • Place the end of the hose into the drain and make sure the end of the hose is levelled or down to let the water flow smoothly. Never let it up.

  • Make sure the water hose is lower than the drain hose outlet.
  • Select the desired humidity setting and fan speed on the unit for continuous draining to start.

Remove the rubber plug

Attach the hose to the drain hose outlet.

NOTE: when the continuous drain feature is not being used, remove the drain hose from the outlet and reinstall the rubber plug.

2.3. Maintenance

PRODUCT DISPOSAL

When using this dehumidifier in the European countries, the following information must be followed:

DISPOSAL: Do not dispose of this product as unsorted municipal waste. Collection of such waste separately for special treatment is necessary.

It is prohibited to dispose of this appliance as domestic household waste. There are several disposal options available:

A) Your municipality may have established collection systems, where electronic waste can be disposed of free of charge.

B) When buying a new product, the retailer may take back the old product free of charge.
C) The manufacture may take back the old appliance for disposal free of charge to the user.
D) As old products contain valuable material, they can be sold to scrap metal dealers.

Wild disposal of waste in forests and landscapes endangers your health when hazardous substances leak into groundwaters and find their way into the food chain.

Turn the dehumidifier off and remove the plug from the wall outlet before cleaning it.

1. Clean the Grille and Case

  • Use water and a mild detergent. Do not use bleach or abrasives.
  • Do not splash water directly onto the main unit. Doing so may cause an electrical shock, cause the insulation to deteriorate, or cause the unit to rust.
  • The air intake and outlet grilles get soiled easily, so use a vacuum attachment or brush to clean.

2. Clean the collector

- Every few weeks, clean the collector to prevent growth of mold, mildew and bacteria. Partially fill the collector with clean water and add a little mild detergent. Swish it around in the collector, empty it and rinse it.

NOTE: do not use a dishwasher to clean the collector. After cleaning it, the collector must be in place and securely seated for the dehumidifier to operate.

3. Clean the air filter

- The air filter behind the front grille should be checked and cleaned at least every two weeks or more often if necessary.

NOTE: DO NOT RINSE OR PUT THE FILTER IN A DISHWASHER.

To remove:

  • Grip the tab on the filter and pull it upward, then pull it out as shown in Fig. 8.
  • Clean the filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse and let the filter dry before replacing it. Do not clean the filter in a dishwasher.

To attach:

- Insert the air filter into the unit from underside to upside. See Fig. 10.

CAUTION:

DO NOT operate the dehumidifier without a filter because dirt and lint will clog it and reduce its performance.

NOTE: The cabinet and front may be dusted with an oil-free cloth or washed with a cloth dampened in a solution of warm water and mild liquid dishwashing detergent. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry. Never use harsh cleansers, wax or polish on the cabinet front. Be sure to wring excess water from the cloth before wiping around the controls. Excess water in or around the controls may

4. When not using the unit for long time periods

  • After turning off the unit, wait one day before emptying the collector.
  • Clean the main unit, water collector and air filter.
    • Cover the unit with a plastic bag.
  • Store the unit upright in a dry, well-ventilated place.

2.4. Troubleshooting

Before calling for service, review the chart below first yourself.
